Hey there. Well, in the competition between Supernanny and Nanny 911, the winner is......Jo! (appaluse and whistles) We still don't know when Nanny 911 is coming back on the air cause they said, 'Coming soon'...neglecting to mention how soon is soon. While on abc.com they posted the new season of Supernanny Jo's coming back on...Friday, Sept 23, 8 PM. Unfortunatly God knows when we're gonna see any eps until then, if we are at all. (sigh) I miss jojo... Jojo

Welcome to Whoosh!, jojo! The nannies on Nanny 911 are great, but Jo is just so much fun to watch. I love her facial expressions when the kids are doing something "naughty" while she's observing and the parents aren't handling the situation very well. You know she wants to step in and do something, but she can't because it's only time for her to observe or she's watching a replay on her laptop.

Aw, thanks for the welcome! I'm so flattered! Anyway, well, like my screenname clearly states, I love Supernanny and I think Jojo's so pretty (did you know her full name is Joanne? I always loved that name) , but 'Nanny 911' isn't bad either. But I do prefer Supernanny, for many reasons. Well, to begin with the biggest problem I see on 'Nanny 911' is that they give the family presents. I mean, they don't see where that's eventually gonna go? You're gonna have familes telling their kids to act bad on purporse when cameras are on them, then the third day the Nanny is there they're gonna tell the kids to be nice and polite, that way they can get a trip. You're gonna be wondering how many of these families are real, and how many are acting JUST for the prizes? At least with Jo she doesn't give them gifts. her gift to them is the order she restores and the love she brings. You know she and the familes are for real and they're NOT in it for any presents. Also, while it IS fun to see the different Nannies in action, I don't really like them taking notes in notebooks. I don't know about you, but it would make me so nervous having someone taking notes in a book while observing me. It would make me feel like I was on trial. Jo takes mental nots and stays as out of sight as she can. Also the Nannies on Nanny 911 are way to formal. I can't tell if their hair is short or long, it's always up (with the exception of both Yvonnes, either the hair was down or in a ponytail). They have those uniforms. I don't see them getting too involved with the Kids either, (with maybe the exception of Deb). I never really see them playing with the kids or taking it easy with them, they're so stiff and formal. Jo while she's in that busniess suit and her hair is up the first day, by the second day her hair is down and she's in casual clothes playing with the kids. She actually gets involved with the kids, she's not just on the sidelines. Jo also lets the parents try her methonds on thjeir own. She doesn't just stay with them a week and leave to fend for themselves like Nanny 911. She stays with them for, I guess a week, then leaves to let them try it themsleves. Sghe then returns to see how they did and spends another weeks helping them perfect it. 2 weeks are mre believeable then 1, and she gives them kidn of a dry-run first. Well, I guess one nice thing about Nanny 911 is especially, Nanny Deb (no wonder she's the most popular). She gets SO atteched to the kids, she cries when she l;eaves them. I have yet to see a Nanny Deb ep where she HASN'T cried. Some migt say Jo doesn't cry...but rememebr, she comes in a limo. Who knows what happens when she's in the limo? She might be crying in there. All things considered, while I do like both nanny shows, I like Jo's better. (although someone once asked who she isn't put with single parents fmailes. isn't it obvious? If she was put with a single father, he's fall despirately in love and be trying to marry her by the time the show is over! -But I';d like to see that though, I really would! ) Jojo

Wow! That is a great analysis of the similarities and differences in the shows! I never realized how different they were until I read your post, but despite how little I've been able to see of them, I can remember instances of everything you've brought up.
That's a good point about the presents. I can see a lot of parents telling their kids to behave a certain way just so they can get a free trip. And of course the kids are willing to go along with it, because it's something they will enjoy as well. Some might argue that the promise of 15 minutes of fame is enough, but how many people really want the kind of fame that makes them look bad to the entire world? With the incentive of a trip or other major "gift," people might not mind so much if they look bad. If someone comes up to them on the street and tells them what a screwed up family they have, they could just say, "We were just pretending so we could get the free trip to Disneyland."
