So? Whadya think? All season, I've been hoping the rumors were just that - rumors. First J.J., and now Prentiss. Pfft. I really liked both characters, and if anyone had to go, I wish it would have been Rossi. Blah! The character is okay, but I can't stand the actor's voice mannerisms; it sounds forced to me, like someone reading off a script, stumbling over the words.
I was bummed a few weeks ago when they started Prentiss's storyline, because it meant the end for her was near. And yes, I cried, though I guessed even when the stick went into her that she wouldn't actually die, and the moment J.J. left the waiting room to talk to Hotch confirmed it for me. (As an aside, every once in a while, some facial expression or mannerism of hers would remind me of Xena. Paget Brewster and Lucy look very similar in some aspects, I think.)
I'm really glad they didn't kill her off, though I'm sad to see her go.
Have you been watching the spin-off - Criminal Minds Something-or-Other Behavior? I only watched the first episode. The cartoon-eared guy bugs me.

I always hate when a show makes changes that I feel aren't necessary. I really never liked Prentiss, I don't know why, maybe because she replaced Greenaway, just like Rossi replaced Gideon. A.J. is who I was really ticked off about losing, but then, she was an original cast member. I didn't tear up until Reid got emotional. I think he and Penelope are my favorites. I don't recall seeing Xena in Prentiss, but maybe that's because I never really liked her.
I do watch 'Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior' but am not impressed with it. I'm starting to get bored with a lot of these CSI/Criminal Mind type shows, but I'll probably keep watching until they get canceled. For now, anyway.

See, I never liked Elle....but then again, I wasn't watching the show when she was a regular; I've only caught episodes with her in reruns.
Most definitely. I love, love, love Reid - so hot-in-the-geekiest of ways. Penelope is my favorite, she just lights up the whole show.
There's an obvious basic similarity in their appearances - the straight hair with bangs, and their tall, slim statures. But every once in a while, Prentiss would have a facial expression that reminded me of Xena.
Actually, to me, the characters seem very similar. Both of them are strong women, physically and mentally. They're both very stoic - no-nonsense "let's get down to business and get the job done" type women, and then there'd be a sarcastic comment, a joke, or moments of tenderness. I loved how Prentiss joked around with Reid.
I read the actors who play the characters, Paget Brewster and Matthew Gray Gubler are also very good friends off-screen. Brewster even insisted that Gubler direct her final episode. He said he was honored to be able to tell "her" story. "That Paget wanted only to work with me on her final episode was a great vote of confidence, an honor. I think she's the greatest, so the love is mutual."
The rumor mill is busy it seems. Brewster's already signed for another show. Her character and AJ Cook's character were eliminated due to pressure from the network over budget cuts - reportedly to pay for Charlie Sheen's salary on Two and a Half Men. Since Sheen's salary is no longer an issue, rumors say the producers of Criminal Minds offered Brewster her job back should the new show she's in fail. Then there are other rumors that say J.J. and Prentiss were eliminated to pay for the cartoon-eared what's-his-name guy on the new Criminal Minds spin-off, and if that show fails, she has her old job back if she wants it.
Who knows.
I haven't watched CSI in about two years...I quit about the same time I started watching Criminal Minds, actually. Character changes ruined CSI for me, and I lost interest. I'll keep watching Criminal Minds, though; it's currently the only police-type show I watch. I can see your point - if I watched too many of those types of shows, I'd probably get bored with them all.

I watch all of the CSIs, NCISs, Criminal Minds ... so I am a bit overloaded. I just like most of the actors and/or their characters, so I feel the need to support them by hanging on. At some point I will start quitting a few of these shows, should they not get canceled in the next couple of years.

Two "not to be missed" shows on at present, Nurse Jackie with Edie Falco in the title role and reruns of Breaking Bad, which stands alongside Dexter as two of the best series ever IMO.
Recently watched an Aussie series called "Rake" about a Barrister [ Lawyer ] with a penchant for gambling, booze and white powder that he sticks up his nose with increasing frequency.
Great characters, witty dialogue, a superb show all round, shame it only ran for eight episodes, I'm gonna be extremely miffed if there isn't a second [ and third, fourth etc ] season.
So good I brought the DVD and I don't do that very often.
Don't know if many Aussie shows screen over there, but if this one crops up have a gander, ya won't be disappointed.

Hey, Katina!
I haven't noticed any Aussie shows here, but then again, we only have expanded "basic" cable in the house. I'm sure if we had premium channels or a dish network, I'd probably see some Australian television. I'll keep my eye out for "Rake", though.

McLeod's Sisters is the only Australian show I recall ever seeing on US TV. WeTv only showed the first three seasons. I've not yet seen the rest of the series. I plan on adding all the seasons to my Netflix queue when I get it dwindled down. It's nice to see that we're all the same, no matter what part of the world we live in. It does burst the bubble of believing life is better in other locals ... the grass just looks greener, and it takes just as much work next door as it does here. Plus, I learned that the twang really isn't as strong as it is played on US TV.

Today I caught a few eps of 'Lost in Austen' and decided to watch them. I missed how Amanda got dragged into the book, and why Elizabeth was locked in a room, but other than that I really liked the eps. I think I'll add it to my Netflix queue and watch the whole series.

Not only am I rereading the Twilight Saga, but Showtime has been airing all 3 movies back to back this weekend, so I'm reading and watching too.
Twilight New Moon Eclipse
Yes, I do have all 3 DVDs, plus I taped all 3 of them last night on one 8-hour tape . . . what's your point? (Okay, my Eclipse DVD has a glitch during Jasper's tale, cutting out a couple of words . . . "she was" . . . so I had to tape it so when I want to see that scene glitch free. And why not just go ahead and tape all of them since they're airing together?) No, I'm not obsessed!
It's research. Ya know . . . so I can glean how to write books that make the author huge amounts of money. Really, I wouldn't lie about something like that.

I'm just not a fan of Twilight, etc. There's just nothing there that intrests me. Reading the earlier posts, I watched McLeod's Daughters while it ran here, but the station that carried the shows dropped it after they killed Claire (played by Lisa Chappell who had roles in Hercules.)
Now that I think about it, nothing really captures my interest at the moment. NCIS and In Plain Sight come closest.

Yeah, the Harry Potter books and movies don't appeal to me. That doesn't mean that I won't read or watch at some point or time. Though I don't really think I ever will. Maybe it's because it's a boy's tale. I've only seen the first 3 seasons of McLeod's Daughters on WeTV, myself. I know the DVDs of all the seasons are sold in Region 1, and I might rent them at some point, but I hear the rest of the seasons weren't all that good, so I've not bothered to watch them. I do plan on renting seasons 1-3 sometime though.

Maybe it's the genre instead of the specific story? HP, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, The Belgariad - all fantasy/adventure and all escapist. And just to say it, I think I would have enjoyed the HP series whether it was Harry or Henrietta Potter.

Honestly, I don't really think I'd even be interested in HP if the lead was a girl. And I'm not sure that it's the genre either. I liked the 'Lord of the Ring' movies & the animated (cartoon) one too. (I haven't read the books yet though.) And I do like Adventure/Fantasy stories too. I would say it's because they're witches and I've had the fear of witchcraft preached to me all my life at Church, but I loved Wendy when I was a wee one, and I liked 'The Craft' movie, and I loved the 'Charmed' TV series ... so I don't really think it's that either.
Pretty much the only genre that tends to repulse me is Sci-fi. But there are exceptions. 'Invasions of the Body Snatchers' ... gag me. Billy Wirth and Gabrielle Anwar were in one remake, and I only ever flip on it from time to time just to try and catch those two in scenes. If they aren't being shown, I flip right back off. However, I love Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host' ... and one day I realized it too contained body snatching aliens. So it must have to do with the story and how it's told. I really don't know why some things catch my interest, and other things that seem to be similar don't. Personally, I think that Harry Potter should be right up my alley ... and I really don't understand why it isn't. And just because it isn't right now, doesn't mean it won't be years to come. I won't say I'll never read or watch HP. I can tell you I'll never, ever, get near 'The Invasion of the Body Snatchers' ... my repulsion for that one is far too strong. Which boggles the mind that I love 'The Host' so much.

Same thing happens to me Joxee. I think what got me started on HP was the fact that some of the fringe fanatics were against it because of the magic aspect to the books. That was a little too closed minded for me - their arguments sounded specious, even desperate. So, I had to check it out for myself and once I got started, it was good enough to keep me going. But why one story interests me and another doesn't work for me at all, I haven't a clue.

You're not missing a whole lot to be honest Gams, sad to say Aussie shows are generally pretty ordinary IMO, Rake being one of the exceptions to the rule. Sheesh, only took me three and a half months to reply. Anybody watch/ed "Falling Skies" here, caught back to back eps' last night, think they were the opening two shows but not really sure. A little underwhelmed to be honest, don't think I'll be adding it to my must see list.

(Okay, my Eclipse DVD has a glitch during Jasper's tale, cutting out a couple of words . . . "she was" . . . so I had to tape it so when I want to see that scene glitch free.
Okay. I don't think it's a glitch on the DVD. When I played the movie again the other day, it skipped right after Bella says, "Maria was creating an army?"
-skipped- Jasper: "They were very common in the south. A constant brutal battle for territory. Maria won them all. -skipped-
Jasper: "She was smart, careful, and she had me."
I swear the other times I watched the DVD 'she was' were the only words skipped. So I remembered that I have a CD/DVD cleaner and used it a couple of times. Now the DVD freezes up after Bella says, "Maria was creating an army?" and it jumps and freezes and then Jasper starts his speech at the skipped part above. Nothing spoken is missing. So that can't be a glitch in the DVD ... it has to be somewhere else. I've looked at the bottom of the DVD and it is shiny with no smears or scratches, so I can't figure what it could be.

Sheesh this thread has lain dormant for a while, nobody watchin' any tele?
A new channel added to the Foxtel package recently called FX, and it has some interesting shows.
"Justified" about a US Marshall, played by Timothy Olyphant, from the TV series "Deadwood" and the film "A Perfect Getaway" worth a look.
Anyone seen A Perfect Getaway by the way, a real "sleeper" IMO.
"The Living Dead" about, well about Zombies as the title implies, a better then usual offering from this genre.
"Hell on Wheels" a western about the building of a railroad and the efforts of the hero tracking down the gang who murdered his wife.
And finishing tonight on one of the movie channels is the nine part series "Luck" with Dustin Hoffman, one of the best things to hit the tele in many a long day.
Was going to be a second series of ten episodes but they were cancelled, apparently due to the death of three horses during series one.
Anyhoo, anybody seen any of these?

We've been watching the following, among others, on Netflix.
Nikita Star Trek Voyager Star Trek DS9 Monk Shawn the Sheep
We don't watch much live TV any more. This way we only watch what we want to watch, when we want to watch it, and hang all the rest!

Another I forgot to mention that started last week is "American Horror Story" looks kinda interesting. Watched the first two episodes of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" last night, nothing like plenty of gratuitous nudity, sex and violence to spice things up a bit.

Yeah I'll certainly give both another go for sure. AHS looks like it could go in any direction and really keep you wondering what's real and what's fantasy.
Liked Spartacus, though the accents were a bit off putting, as was some of the dialogue which seemed to modern for the time period, but they're just minor complaints, overall found it pretty good.
You seen "The Walking Dead" Jox, would be the type of show you'd like I'd imagine .

I do not own a TV... Instead, I download certian shows and keep them on my HD.
The shows I have are:
NCIS Night Court Family Ties Xena The Ricky Gervais Show Inside the Actor's Studio Buffy The Vampire Slayer House MD Terra Nova MTV's The Maxx Spartacus Ghost Hunters Smoking Gun Presents: Worlds Dumbest
That is pretty much all I watch... And for those of you wanting to claim a violation of Copywritgh law, I live in a house that has cable. I could record these shows onto my computer from cable. And when I do download them, they ALL have the watermark of the TV station they aired on... It is a grey area of the law, I know... But untill I know otherwise, I am keeping them on my computer. I also have a few movies on my computer, but I own the DVD of the movie. I have them on my HD for "Protection of the original disk"

Well this is the place to post this even though it's a bit of a dead zone here.
Just finished watching the eight part series "True Detective" starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson; totally riverting show from the opening credits of episode one to the closing credits of episode eight.
Superb performances from the two leads, a tight script, great atmosphere, all in all television at it's finest.
Any other fans out there?
