Greetings everyone!
My name is Brian Myers and I am a graduate student in Media and Cultural Studies at Florida State University. I am currently seeking participants for a study of the relationship between Xena and its international fans. I am doing research on how Xena has been interpreted by audiences around the world and figured there was no better place to start than the International Association of Xena Studies! I am also a fan of the show (the first episode that I ever saw was “Cradle of Hope” all the way back in ’95) and I am fascinated by the fact that it has meant so many different things to so many audiences. I know that Xena has greatly shaped my own sense of identity, and I would love to formally research how it has impacted other people as well.
If you volunteer to participate, you will take part in a short email-based interview (6 questions), with the possibility of follow-up interviews if you are willing. The interview(s) will focus on viewings of Xena and how it impacted your own sense of cultural/national identity. Only I will have access to the data. Your name will not be used in any transcription or report, and data that identifies you will be disguised unless you specifically agree to be identified.
If you are interested, please email me at bhm02c [at] fsu.edu. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
