Being able to treat (spray) burn patients within hours and getting that kind of result might be the discovery of the decade.

Yeah. I wonder what it would do for 3rd degree burns? It would be super amazing if burn victims could look human again after such a tragedy.
Both videos are amazing, but the first one is the most important as far as new technology goes.

In no particular order, here are the top 10 NEW concessions that baseball fans can order around the big leagues in 2011: 1. Pulled Pork and Pierogi Stacker, PNC Park, Pittsburgh: This tasty towering treat is a contestant in a Pirates fan poll this season at PNC Park. The stacker consists of pulled pork atop of a pretzel roll with caramelized onions and two potato pierogi for good measure. The $8 sandwich will be sold alongside the Stuffed Pepper Hoagie, a banana pepper filled with sausage and cheese, served on a hoagie roll that's doused with marinara. Fans will be able to vote on their favorite concession up to the All-Star Break. Winner stays on the menu, loser hits the dumpster out back. the rest of the article is here, but since Phalon likes her pulled pork so much... Click Me

I have a feeling I'd end up with more of those sandwiches on my shirt than in my belly.

I agree, Siren - there is no way to eat pulled-pork and be neat about it!
Here's a neat video about food. My co-worker turned me on to it. When I told him after watching it, it made me want to give the little old lady a hug, he said, "No, I want her to give me a hug", and I had to agree. She just seems like the type you'd want to receive hugs from - she's 93 years old, and is as sweet as can be!

I agree, Siren - there is no way to eat pulled-pork and be neat about it! If neatness mattered, I'd have to wear a slicker at all meals. I'm not a slob, but too often something drips, splatters, or plops, and it seems what I'm wearing is always in the way when the permanent stain making goo starts to fly.

I don't know how many of you are using the icon at the top of the forum, but I got hooked on it recently. I don't have to jump from board to board to find comments ... I just go to the top of the forum and they're all in one spot. How cool is that?

This isn't really a new interesting find - sky lanterns have been around for thousands of years. I saw them for the first time Sunday night though, when after the fireworks at the beach, bunches of them were released throughout town. We sat on the porch for a long time, way into the night, watching them fly over the house. www.flyingchineselanterns.com/index2.htm

Friday evening was a night of interesting finds. We went to the beach; not "our" beach because BP wanted to take Quetta, and dogs aren't allowed on the beaches in town. Instead we went a few miles south, to a small public beach that's particularly rocky. While Hubs scoured the sand with his metal detector, and BP and Quetta played in the water, I scanned the water's edge for Lucky Stones. You remember me talking about Lucky Stones? They are pieces of ancient reed that was once native to this area. Fossilized, they are like tiny beads. Finding them is tricky; just as you spot one, a wave will come in, and wash it away. It's kind of addictive too - once you find one, you just have to continue searching for more. I found eight of them Friday night - the smallest is no bigger than the head of a pin; the largest is about the size of a pea. Hubs was lucky with his metal detector too. He unearthed a round, flat chunk of rusted metal that at first looked like the lid of a paint can. On closer inspection though, we discovered it had a thin, ornately shaped dial, and on the back, has some type of mechanism. An old clock face? Or some kind of device once used to navigate a boat? Just out of curiosity, we'll take it to the Maritime Museum today to see if they can determine what it was used for.

It's invaluable, having a survivor of the Depression give a first-hand account, as she did. And how awesome of her to demonstrate the recipes. It's like having your granny show you how it was done. Honestly, it was hard for me to watch the video; she reminded me so of our dear granny, who passed in 1996. It's a testament to how much she was loved that we still grieve for her today. We have many funny, happy memories of her. But we really do miss her terribly.

The link didn't work for me, but I was able to find other videos. Thanks for the introduction. Here's a fellow who explains how he makes lanterns to fly: www.skylighter.com/fireworks/how-to-make/sky-lanterns.aspThose lucky stones are very neat! Thanks for the photo. And what a find for Hubs! Let us know what you find out.

Aw, Siren. Hugs. Sorry if the video made you sad, but hopefully it also brought back some of those happy memories of your granny.
I will, Siren....whenever I find out anything. Unfortunately, we never did make it to the Maritime Museum that day. I was going to take it this Wednesday instead, but got busy with other things. There never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything done.
I never heard of her either, Siren. She sounds like she was an interesting woman; I looked up the stamp too. It's part of a series titled "Distinguished Americans" which has featured a different person each year since 2000. Don't you just love finding unexpected but interesting bits of information from running across such a little thing like a stamp?

It really is, Gams. I felt I'd found a buried treasure. I guess that's just what that stamp series is about - drawing attention to some lesser-known folks who deserve the recognition.
Thanks, Gams. The vid did, indeed, bring back happy memories, too. Here's a memory about cooking AND my granny's sense of humor. The last Christmas she was alive, I stopped by her house. Mom was 89, and couldn't see that well, but was still living alone, very independent. As I walked up the steps, I could see her in her little kitchen. She was making fruit salad, a mixture of chopped fruits, nuts, and a unique glaze which includes, in part, crushed Christmas candy (the colorful hard candy mixture). She was just finishing it up. She spooned some into a bowl, put some Saran wrap over it, and gave it to me, saying, "Take this to your Mama, so she'll know mine's better." See, my mom makes fruit salad, too. Mom just wanted her to know who was the old master at making it. Lol! She was always thinking of ways to give my mom a bit of a hard time. Oh, she was "a mess", as we say here in Okieland. One of a kind. And we so, so miss her.

Siren, you are on a roll here, posting links to all these cool sites in the book thread, the little pleasures thread, and here, (there's some pretty strange and disturbing minds to come up with some of those movie posters). I got so engrossed reading the sites last night, it got way too late for me to post anything. Thanks! I found an interesting article about interesting finds the other day, but never got around to posting it - it's about finding messages in bottles. I think it would be so neat to be walking down the beach, maybe playing chicken with the waves, and see a bottle bobbing along the shoreline. Screw however cold the water happened to be - I have to retrieve the message. news.yahoo.com/blogs/upshot/found-messages-bottles-183933342.html

Glad you're enjoying the links. Me, too! I love the one about messages in bottles. Something very romantic about that. But the one about the bottle found 50 years later is truly amazing. What a story!

When I went outside with my cup of coffee this morning, I found a 128 foot blimp in my backyard! Now, that would be an interesting find, wouldn't it? It's what happened to a 94 year old woman in Ohio yesterday morning when the blimp broke from its moorings at a nearby airport during a storm. When asked by reporters if she was going to try the Hangar 1 Vodka that the blimp advertised, the woman replied that she could use a stiff drink after all the ruckus. Too bad it wasn't the country's most famous blimp. Then she could fondly recall the incident in years to come by saying, "It was a Goodyear". Here's the article; the woman looks so cute standing in front of her interesting find.....and at 94 years old, quite spry also: news.yahoo.com/ohioan-94-wakes-blimp-landed-yard-150759648.html

94?? She looks fantastic! And as you say, seems quite spry and sharp, too. Good for her! I have a feeling she's be fun to have that "stiff drink" with, too.

Thanks, Jox! That is a fun site for people who are interested in romance books, and in getting published. I'm interested in neither, but enjoy the humor of the bloggers. And I've enjoyed some of their book recommendations, too. The girls from another of my favorite blogs, www.gofugyourself.com, pointed out this article about the almost-grown-up daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. I thought the music fans here might be interested, too. She is beautiful! And the photos are striking. It's interesting to me that in some, she looks like a sexy siren, and in others, like a young girl (which she is) playing dress-up. www.celebitchy.com/175421/frances_bean_cobain_19_is_lovely_and_tatted_up_in_new_portraits/

It must be incomplete. I didn't see "world's best blogger lost in Michigan" - but maybe she's just on vacation and she'll be posting again soon. I'll just have to use my world class grill I got for Christmas a few virtual presents ago, along with the coolest setting ever, and kill time until she shows up. I still owe you a steak don't I?
