I couldn't get the trailer link you posted to come up, Joxie, so I did a drill. I wasn't aware, (surprise and eyeroll given my self-dug entertainment hole in which I live), "The Lovely Bones" was being made into a movie.
I read the book a couple (few?) years ago; it was given to me as a gift, along with another somewhat depressing, but good book. (I was sure I wrote about it in the "what are you reading" thread, though I can't find a post).
Hhmmmm....I can't say I'll run out to see the movie, or even break down the movie rental store doors when it's released on DVD. It was a great book, even funny in places; the main character has a wonderful sense of humor - even though she happens to be dead. It's a beautifully written story covering a disturbing subject, and I'm not sure I'd want to see it acted out. It'll be one of those I've-gotta-be-in-the-mood-for-a-good-but-depressing-movie movies.

I didn't remember the ez-board Whoosh discussion about the book; was I around at that time even?
Thanks for posting the links, Joxie - I knew I wasn't imagining I'd written a post about reading it. Weird, actually, that I can remember mentioning it two years ago, when half the time I can't remember what I had for dinner the night before.

Yeppers, you were around. I moved to ezWhoosh the same time as all the other O2ers, so if I was in the conversation, you were there too.
And you're welcome for the links.

Have you seen it yet Gams? Caught it a few weeks back and don't think you have to worry too much, it's not overly graphic [ though still disturbing ] A little overdone at times with the CGI during the fantasy/dream sequences, but still a good film overall with excellent performances from the lead character [ can't recall her name ] and Stanley Tucci as her killer. Do you recall how the book ended?

It's not really the graphicness (is that a word?) that would keep me from watching it, Katina, though it's good to know it wasn't made into an overly graphic display of an already disturbing subject, (I'm assuming you're talking about the death scene). If it was graphic, it'd be just for the shock effect and unneeded to tell the story.
It was a good book - and not necessarily depressing given the ending (which I remember), but not really a subject matter I'd want to see acted out for two hours.
