Wow! A real ghost story. I've been up in Tongario. Can appreciate what it'd be like to lose one's bearings in bad weather----scary, and a friendly ghost would be very welcome.

I lived in a house where a mother had killed her 2 children. We moved in about 20 years after it happend. I was about 12 years old One night about 2 weeks after we moved in I heard some one in the hall around 2am. 2 little voices crying . I didnt see anyone a few minutes later I want to the bathroom to wash my hands because I was eating a orange. Well I saw a little boy. I asked him who he was and he told me. And told me what happend. His mother had drowned him and his sister , that was the last time I saw him. We lived there about 4 years after that. When I rent a house I ask if its haunted if they say no,I dont rent.I prefer a haunted house or apt. Everyone thinks im weird. This is a true story!

After one strange occurrance, I've always asked the realtor the same question, Freebird....but for the opposite reason. I definately want my house to be ghost-free.
Once, when buying our second home, we looked at the coolest old Tudor. It was perfect - exactly what we were looking for and more, in a really great neighborhood. The amount of house, the style, the upgrades and the neighborhood, and we couldn't figure out why the asking price was so low. After walking through all the rooms, and falling in love with everything, we had definately made up our minds that this was it.
Then we went into a storage room off the garage.
I got a strange feeling leaving the room, like there was something behind me. A chill ran down my spine.
We decided to make an offer on the house the next morning. No rush, the sellers had already vacated, and the house stood empty for some time, our realtor told us.
That night, I had the most unsettling dream that I was in that storage room and couldn't breathe. I tried to get out, but could not. I woke up panicked, gasping for air. Hubs asked me what was wrong, and I told him about the dream and that I wanted to forget about putting in an offer on the house, because I felt something was definately wrong in that room.
He agreed, without so much as a question....which is sooooooooo very unlike him. He's the type that claims he doesn't believe in ghosts and he'd have to see it to believe it. I think he felt something odd in that room also or he never would have given up our "dream" house so easily without any discussion.
It was very unnerving and we never did find out if anything ever happened in that storage room.
In our current house, I do believe the soul of the man who owned the house for more than fifty years passed through on the day he died.

Ack! Someone add another topic quick. The little counter thingy at the bottom of the board reads, "Total Topics - 666".
Oh damn. I can't stop my head from spinning. Call in the exorcist...hand me a bible.
Oh wait. Hand me an aspirin instead. Too much to drink perhaps, and that could be the reason my head is spinning.

I loved the haunted house site.
There is a place in Louisville, KY called the Waverly Manor. Its been a confirmed Haunted House. It was on Sci-Fi channel story on hauntings. Check it out. They had it on last year. The place was a tourist site but things got so bad they stopped the tours. It used to be a hospital back in the 30's. I think.

Ah hah! I see, so Internet Explorer is the only browser equiped to help you view paranormal happenings, such as the ones here at Whoosh. Well, I guess that despite all of the criticism they've recieved, you still have to give due respect to Gates and company, heh.

I think we have a ghost in our house...she seems very friendly though so I'm not too scared of her. I assume I'm the only one ever to have noticed the things she gets up to as they mostly seem to happen when the rest of my family is away. Our house is 3 storeys and was divided into 2 flats before we moved in. My parents have a huge bedroom on the 2nd floor and there's a small piece of landing with the stairs up to the third floor and sometimes when I'm up there I suddenly get a really big whiff of roses, like a rose cologne ( my mum doesn't wear anything like this...and neither does my dad!) And I often find things in the middle of the floor up there, one time I found all the attachments for the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the hall, and another time there was paper scattered all over the place. Bear in mind this is only when my family is away from home. Don't know if she's looking after me while I'm on my own or trying to scare the heck out of me!

Heheh, I love that Norma website Jox We have a show here in the UK called 'So Graham Norton'...don't know if you know if you've heard of him, he's this really, really camp Irish chat show host and when he has guests on his show he goes on line with them and shows them different kinds of websites about them, like fan sites and stuff. He had Lucy Lawless on one time and he showed her the Norma page and she thought it was hilarious...and a little bit worrying! She was saying that she hoped the costume wasn't as uncomfortable as the real one! I was wondering if anyone here's ever made their own Xena costume and if so , how did it turn out?

I made a costume for Little Xena one Halloween, (she was six at the time). Breast plate, modified of course. The costume turned out well - all the adults while she was treat or treating knew who she was, but the kids had no clue. Go figure. She loved it, although towards the end of the night, she said she was really, really wiped out. I asked her why, and she said she was tired of the adults giving out the candy, asking her to do the Xena yell.
She wanted me to dress as Gabrielle and go with her, (my hair is similiar to the classic Gabby look, and my stature similiar as well). But dang it, my green bra was in the laundry.

Here's a little spooky tale, just in time for Halloween. The Viper author unknown, (that even sounds a little scary, no? One Halloween, four 10 year old boys decided to spend the night in an abandoned mansion, rumored to be haunted, on the edge of town. Close to midnight, they sat down in the spooky, cobwebbed filled cellar, scaring each other with ghost stories, when they heard a loud banging on the cellar window. A voice calls out, "I am the Viper."The boys screamed and ran unstairs to the foyer of the old house. Huddled together and shaking, they suddenly heard a thudding at the front door, and the same voice, more insistant now, screeches again, "I am the Viper."In panic, the boys headed up the stairs to the second story and stood on the landing, scared out of their senses. It was quiet for a long time, and they calmed down and began to relax a bit. Then without warning, the huge window on the landing began to rattle and shake, and the voice bellowed again, "I am the Viper!"Nearing hysteria now, the boys scrambled up the staircase, this time ending up in the attic. The roof line was low, and they had to sit in the middle of the floor, eyes bulging, and hanging on to each other for dear life. Through their sobs, they contemplated their gruesome death at the hands of the hideous creature to whom this voice belonged. Rats scurried all around them, and the flapping of bat wings whooshed by their heads. Then they heard it. A low, deep rumbling seeming to come from deep in the bowels of the house, spreading upward, until the entire house seemed to shake in violent reverberations. 'I AM THE VIPER!!!", the voice screamed. The attic shutters flew open with such a force that they were ripped off their hinges. A hairy, haggard, misshapen face peered in through the opening. Green eyes glowed in the dark from the center of that horrible face. Bloodless lips parted, revealing a toothless, black opening. "I AM THE VIPER!", it sneered. And then, with the slightest twinkle in it's eyes and a sly smile spreading across that gruesome face, he muttered, "I come to vipe your vindows."

That's funny and cute. Got another true ghost story for all of you. My mother had lived in this house for 18 years now. Every time there is a U.K. ( Kentucky Wildcats) basketball game on, the attic door opens and a inprint on the sofa is seen as if someone is sitting there. And when the game is over you can see the seat rise up again. Also you can hear a baby laughing sometimes or crying. My grandson and all of mom's other grand babies (i'm the only one with a grandbaby)my sister and brother's kids are under the age of 10 . will stand in the hallway and "talk,Play,Laugh" with the ghost baby. They will talk for a long time. Then when she moved because the owner was going to tear it down, the ghost's moved with her. We find the babies in the hallway again, talking about whatever babies have to talk about.

That's weird, but kind of sweet too. They say animals and kids are more open to the spirit world than adults. I'm working a 12 hour shift on Halloween...so that's nice! I will still be celebrating though, won't get to go trick or treating but will be having a little ritual at my altar when I get home from work...it will probably be about midnight then...how appropriate! Am also baking a pumpkin pie for the boys at work, its the first time I've tried to make my own so goddess knows how it will turn out!

Oops, I haven't been to this thread in quite a few days. Thanks, Freebird! Thanks, Q! Sorry I've only decorated a few threads for Halloween this year, instead of going all out like last year. I finally got around to decorating the Peanuts Gang thread, and hopefully I can get in another little trick before Sunday. Stop around more often, you and ILB both!
