How is it that I never read this thread in the 3-1/2 months it's been up? It's an interesting story and there are some interesting theories on it as well. But how do they know her name was Mary, how do they know she was buried in that dress and didn't die in that dress, and how could it be so difficult to figure out who she is if the ghost does exist? If I were to investigate her identity, I would have eyewitnesses describe her to a sketch artist and check it against photographs of young women who had died around the time just before her first sighting. It would have been easier to do back in the 30's, of course, as the sketch could have been shown to families of the deceased, and photographs of the live woman would be harder to come by these days. Still an interesting story, though. ;D Google Search: Resurrection MaryGoogle Search: Resurrection CemeteryGoogle Image Search: Resurrection MaryGoogle Image Search: Resurrection Cemetery

Don't most cities and small towns have their own Resurrection Marys or dead hitchhikers? Although after watching the Supernatural episode about that I wouldn't want to see her at all! :eek!!

Yep, we have ghost stories in our own little town, although I'm not real familiar with them. I did wait on a real living legend at the store just last week, who has been well-known throughout our county since the 1950's. They call him Slippery Bob, although his real name isn't Bob. Contrary to popular legend, he didn't have mirrors on his shoes. Trust me, I looked. Maybe he stopped when the ladies got wise to that ploy, or maybe he just doesn't expect to see much in the winter...

There's the spirit of a little boy on my property and my grandmother's proptery (we pretty much share the same land) that has been here since before my grandparents moved and built thier home there years back. He stays in the forest area between my house and her house and sorta hides among the trees. You can see him if you know what you're looking for. It will startle you and scare you a bit at first.
I've saw some things on this property from time to time (part of the house is built on a very old wagon trial from waaaaaaaaaay back when) which might explain the odd sightings from time to time.
There's even some family lore about an uncle who saw a headless horseman in the forest further on behind my house...not about to check into that one or not! LOL
