Sci-Fi Channel's freshman action show won't be back for another season; 22-episode season will air as planned.
She can heal all she wants, but "Painkiller" Jane Vasco isn't coming back to the Sci-Fi Channel.
Ouch, that hurts. The genre cable network has cancelled the show Painkiller Jane, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show is currently 16 episodes through its premiere season, and will run its entire 22-episode series as planned.
Painkiller Jane is based on the comic book series of the same name created by Jimmy Palmiotti. The lead character Jane Vasco, played by Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), is a DEA agent with the superhuman ability to regenerate and heal from injury. Along with a team of secret government agents, she is tasked with tracking down other mutants with special powers.
In 2005, Sci-Fi aired a made-for-television Painkiller Jane movie also based on the comic book and starring Emmanuelle Vaugier as Jane. The television series premiered earlier this year and was not directly related to the movie.
Painkiller Jane currently airs on Friday nights on Sci-Fi. For more information, check out TV.com's previous coverage.
