I have always enjoyed "how we met" stories. Here's one. In the 1950s, there was a young man who was one of the main breadwinners in his family. He didn't attend school regularly, because his mother felt that work was more important. One evening, he attended a high school basketball game with a friend, who had a plan: using the ball game to convince the young man to get back in school. As they sat in the bleachers, watching the game, the friend listed all the pros of attending that high school. As he listed them, his eyes lit on a young woman in the crowd. The friend said to the young man, "If you come here, you might get to date pretty girls like this," and tapped the young woman (who was with another boy) on the shoulder. She looked over her shoulder, and the young man later recalled that her eyes were so big, he thought he was looking at "a hoot owl". Happy ending: the young man did enroll at that high school. He made lifelong friends, became an excellent student, and lettered in two sports. He did date that pretty girl with the big eyes. They were married after graduation, and had three daughters.
My mom and dad have been together for fifty-three years.
Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!

What a great story, Siren. As TG would say, it gave me heart-smiles.
