That's not a trait restricted or even perfected by LX.
But then you'd have to do no more than throw around some seed early in the morning, and sit on some eggs all day while they rule the roost. And you could drink coffee all day. And think of all the good Halloween stories you'd come up with while waiting on the eggs to hatch. Yeah, okay. But I still think it'd be a good idea, and you'd have fun too. Old people just have no sense of fun!
I hear that! It looks like they're experiencing severe cramps of some sort.
I'd never waste an Easter Egg that way - they go to waist if anything. Easter Egg salad 'cause the coloring agent penetrates the shell a touch. Green eggs, and red and blue and orange and others, diced into egg salad sandwiches. I was referring back to my "Raspberry, Strawberry, Cookie Dough, Coconut Cream..." comment.
Is that an option??? Bacon delivery systems are always of interest to some of us. You've heard of Mouseketeers? I'm an Baconeer!

Actually, none of those sound appealing to me. Now, if they were peanut butter filled, you'd probably have to fight me for them.
Bacon is one of those things like cookie dough - it seems to be in everything these days. Bacon ice-cream? Maybe I'd try it. Bacon toothpaste?! I can't even imagine.
Not a big fan of bacon here; we rarely have it except for BLTs a couple of times during the summer, or when BP makes deviled eggs - she puts chopped spinach and bacon in them. It is, of course, bad for you, but mainly the reason we don't have it more often is because it's a total pain in the butt to cook, and clean up afterward.
Kind of funny....LX, shortly after starting her freshman year, called home all excited - "Mom, in the Caf(eteria), you can get bacon on anything!!!"
I sometimes wonder if I've deprived my children of the biggest joys of life. (eye-roll)
Oh, and I "cheated" yesterday by not weighing myself more than once a week. I got on the scale...and had to double check just to be sure. I lost two pounds!

They have those too, but since they also have Reese's "Eggs" I get those. I like both the cookie dough and strawberry, but my favorite is Chocolate covered 'Whipped Chocolate' - it's the consistency of the Strawberry or Raspberry filling in the other eggs, but it very light, fluffy, and extra yummy chocolate. Fortunately, the base didn't get those this year which is a good thing; I'd be documenting weight gain rather than loss.
That's okay, I make up for you and several other people. I even like the turkey bacon. Every once in a while I make a version of the Egg McD - I even have a set of rings to keep the eggs in a nice circle while cooking - but of course I use bacon instead of a thin slice of ham.
That's why they go away to college instead of living at home - new experiences. Of all kinds.
Congratulations! It's been about two weeks so I checked again - I lost another 3.6 - but earlier I'd gained a couple ounces. That's why you don't weigh in every day - weight fluctuates too much in the short term.

And congratulations to you too!
You've obviously made the 3 pound goal and then some. So is today the day of the final weigh-in for February, or do I get one more day?

The final weigh in is the end of March - you've got a month to go yet. The trick is not only getting it off, but keeping it off.

Oooohhhh...I wonder why I thought the end of February/beginning of March? Probably because I was thinking losing 3 pounds in a month a was more than reasonable goal - easily attainable, actually. HA! Little did I know! While you've been losing more than that weekly, I've been working my butt off (hopefully) and the needle on my scale has barely budged. Check this out, though...at least I've got something to show for the past month's efforts... "Look MA! No handles!" Ok, so there are still handles, but not as much to hang onto as there was (and my vanity requires me to point out that the "handle" on the left in the photo is the folds of my shirt; the one on the photo's right what remains of my muffin top). Kinda proud of that, actually...and should probably be embarrassed to post of photo of my torso, but I figure we're all family in here, and in the Wide World of Weird Selfies this doesn't even come close to the worst of the bunch. So my goal for March is to not only lose the 3 pounds I thought I could lose in February, but to lose the remainder of the muffin top by the time everyone here sheds the bulky sweaters we've all been wearing. I think that's reasonable. Hopefully. And hopefully it's reasonable to think that by the end of March it'll be warm enough that we won't have to be wearing bulky sweaters anymore!

For some people it is, but not for everyone. I've had times when it seemed like nothing I did, or didn't do, mattered. My body just wasn't going to give up an ounce. Now that we've started tracking - I've set an unofficial goal to lose another eight - more really but for now that will do. Please explain to hubs it's not our fault. Those are called love handles and I wouldn't want hubs upset with us. And it's no wonder you're struggling to drop three - you don't hardly have three to spare! I, on the other handle, can spare another three and then some. Fibber - or your standard is way too strict. I thought you said you'd already lost two - but since the nursery will open and you'll be working - the 'work out' from nursery work will tone up the rest of what ever it is you're talking about. But I'm telling ya, if it's not enough to hold on to then it's not a love handle/muffin top. That's the kind of itty-bitty thing that models fuss about and have lipo'ed.

HA, Stepper! I think you've got it backwards - I don't think Hubs would mind one way or the other; it's me that minds. "Love handles" is a strange name. Don't know if Steppette's got love handles, but if she does, have you ever once grabbed hold of them, and said, "Hey Babe, I just love to hang on to this roll of fat you've got hanging over your top of jeans!" Go ahead and try it. I dare you.
No, I've certainly got more than that to spare. Don't forget I estimated I gained 15-20 pounds over those stressful few years, and haven't lost one bit of it since (except 2 pounds); now that I have a scale it's official - I am 19 pounds heavier than I was, counting already losing those 2 pounds (at least I didn't underestimate how much I had to lose; that would have been discouraging). I went up a clothing size, and have an entire closet and dresser full of clothes that don't fit. Women carry extra weight different than men do - most of it settles on our hips, butt, and thighs - most of which conveniently aren't visible in the photo. So yes, while my love handles have gotten smaller this past month, there's still a quite a way to go.
Yeah, I lost the two (Weigh-in Monday confirms it - no more/no less than last week's 2 pounds). Nursery work will help keep it off, but not necessarily take it off. Still gotta work on that part. And I still think 3 pounds in a month should be a very attainable goal for me, so 3 more pounds for March is what I'm shooting for.
Grocery shopping today too. Probably sounds weird, but I think it's kind of fun thinking up ways to satisfy my sweet tooth and still stick with eating healthy.

Clearly men have been editing their conversations when near you.
That's not they way you say it. To anyone. Ever. Not even if you're both really, really drunk and it's after the 2AM last call and you are the last two people in the bar. They make porn movies for everything and I'd bet they don't make that one - or at least that even they don't use that line.
Don't forget that you are naturally going to gain some weight as you age - er - are perfected by time - so you can't really expect to drop it all and stay healthy. And really - the picture says you carry what ever you've got well enough. But if you want to work on abs, that's up to you.
Okay - three more it is! Go team go! I sort of blew it this evening - again. Southern gravy over toast. Sigh - it was a craving you see...

Very kind of you. The ideal body weight charts for my height, build, and age though, say I should lose, so...
Go team, go!!!
Did the same Saturday night with pizza and beer after the game. <shrugs> It happens.
Here's one...we've all talked about night time snacking. Are you eliminating snacks, or changing what your snacks are?

Christie Brinkley and Elle Macpherson make a living by marketing a physique that makes people of both sexes drool, and is generally unattainable except by making at living at doing only what they do - train hard, work hard, and oh yeah, have the very best gene set going in a human. And of course for the rest of us there's Photoshop.
I would never discourage healthy living - but I insist on encouraging a healthy and realistic self perspective. Girl, you got nuttin to be worried about. Lose a pound or two if it makes you feel better about yourself - that's okay - but don't let standards skew the vision in the mirror. You're better than that. I promise.
I'm trying - you're succeeding!
It's a combination. Less salt during the day - my personality is salty enough anyways; I've all but stopped chips of all kinds - stock in Doritos is dropping I'm sure - and Lay's is probably feeling a pinch too - but as I said the other day, one of my weaknesses has come around. Those darned Easter Egg things are out. I restocked today. I'm eating too many of them and I know it. It's like Halloween when Pumpkin Delights come out - NO becomes no . I've backed off on soda - which I like - in favor of tea (a natural diuretic) and iced water which I drink in quantity. And I have so far managed to pretty much avoid all snacks after 7:30 with the exception of some fruit once in a while. And the other night when I had a potato chip attack. I don't have Doritos in the house so they can't call me.

I can assure you, Step, that I have no skewed perceptions when I look in the mirror, no unrealistic images in my head of what I "should" look like, nor do I look at models and celebrities and wish I could look like them, or even think I can have the body of my younger self. But I'm (only) 50; I don't have to accept that I put on 20 extra pounds just because I'm a few years older. I simply want to get back in shape by doing things I've gotten out of the habit of doing these last few years (exercising daily, which also means doing it in addition to my job when I go back to work), eliminating some bad habits I've fallen into (nightly cappuccinos, for example, are just a bunch of empty calories), and changing other bad habits I've always had (my love of bakery goods does not mean I need them daily). I'm not even eating less, just healthier.
I haven't cut out evening snacks; snack time for me usually falls between 8 and 9pm - never really did that late night snack thing. I've changed though what snacks I'm eating - the usuals were always either a cinnamon-chip, chocolate chip, or double-Dutch chocolate muffin, or chocolate chips cookies; apple turnovers made frequent appearances, as did ice-cream. Substituting the bakery stuff for half an apple with peanut butter and slivered almonds, or a bowl of (organic per BP) cereal without milk because I never liked cereal with milk; I usually have a glass afterward. Oooo...cocoa-dusted almonds are really good too.
Had a banana last night - I don't know why; I hate bananas. I always forget that until I eat one. (Eye-roll)

I knew I was doing something wrong. To see how much damage I had done I got on the scale. Not me - I like 'em, and peaches and oranges - especially when they're chilled. Cherries too but they're ridiculously expensive. Steppet's parents had a garden, cherry trees, one really big apple tree, green grapes, and something else but I don't remember what. I didn't understand their $$ value until I started having to purchase everything.

Bananas, I'll eat and sort of enjoy, but only if they're on the green side - very firm, and somewhat sour; I don't know if "sour" is exactly the word I'm looking for but they can't be have that banana icky-sweet taste like the one I had the other night. Bananas and grapefruit - probably the only two fruits I don't like. And canned fruit - bluck! Except for pineapples, because although fresh is much better, they're too much of a pain in the @ss to clean and cut. Oh, and canned mandarin oranges - one of our summer dinner favorites is a green salad with grilled chicken, mandarin oranges, and feta cheese. Other than that, I love all kinds of fruit, and it's gotta be fresh.
But you've lost so much already, it can't be that bad.

This probably shouldn't have, but it made me laugh. No, I'm not getting Ruby Reds. I'm not getting any other grapefruit either. Because I don't like them.
Yanno, I never really thought about that; I only buy them a few times a year for salads. Obviously I knew mandarin is Chinese, but I guess I assumed mandarin oranges are just a variety of oranges, like ruby reds are a variety of grapefruit, and since Dole is a U.S. company, that their oranges were grown in the U.S..
Shoot, I've been meaning to boil eggs for a few days now; BP likes to take one to school in her lunch. Hope you've got the cooking process figured out; I've never heard of baking eggs to boil them. Wouldn't they then be called baked eggs?
Crazy Cheryl said she'd bring eggs to the house this weekend. LMAO. We'll see.
Had one of those what-the-heck-was-I-thinking days yesterday...way too much starchy bready stuff, which I'm trying to limit because of the cholesterol thing.
Hey! Maybe all that starch will help with my wrinkles!

They taste better than the yellows, but it's up to you. They're good for you though - and your diet.
Same here, until I saw a show talking about how the US used to have a good reputation and manufacturing was a big thing, but now so much is imported that the situation is very different. They did a section on food and while they allowed that fresh fruit year round meant imports, there's so very much more. And now, even though the US is second in the world for meat production "they" want to allow meat imports from Brazil. Why?
I thought the same thing! I guess not though - it has to do with the condition of the egg after cooking maybe? I haven't tried again yet. Steppet finished the one's that weren't quite done by really boiling them. Since they were already pretty much all cooked before she started, they are now, of course, over done. Oh well - they're cooked.
That's what did me in last weekend. Steppet decided to nap so I made country gravy to put over toast, but a couple of the slices were starting to go on one edge so I pulled out all the slices that had a problem, trimmed off the one edge, and then toasted them all. And then I had it again the next day - with less toast of course. I'm still two pounds heavier than I should be. Actually, I usually put a hard boiled egg in the gravy but I didn't have any at the time.
Only if you use it externally and then iron them out.

I'm thinking I get enough vitamins C, A, fiber, and whatever else grapefruits have in the foods I like without eating foods I don't like.
Kind of an interesting side note...years ago, my boss took Lipitor for high cholesterol. She ended up back at the doctor's office because she developed an aching in her legs that wouldn't go away. Turned out that the citrusy juice she drank contained grapefruit; apparently grapefruit and Lipitor interact in some adverse ways.
One of the reasons BP is a stickler for reading labels in the meat department is that "Food Inc." had a section about chicken from China. Why, of all places, would we be importing chicken from China? Why import it at all?
Slip ups happen; getting back on track is the important thing.
Actually, that sounds unappealing to me. I think I've only had country gravy a couple of times, and didn't much care for it. Hard boiled eggs in it doesn't make it sound as if it'd taste any better to me. Great thing about food though - there is something for everyone's tastes.

By coincidence a BBQ show on this weekend was showing how to BBQ red grapefruit and use it with on cilantro. Grilled grapefruit? Yep.
This is true of several medications. For instance, dextromethorphan in Robitussin DM (and others) is a MAJOR no no. Same thing for estrogens and medications for high blood pressure (especially Calcium channel blockers) - MAJOR no no's. Grapefruit keeps the body from eliminating these properly.
I don't know, and I don't know. Especially since so many foods and products have been reported as having detrimental effects.
I went crash, bang, boom! Or as dad put it, ass-bitch-kerwallop.
But, but, but, you LIKE to experiment and eat weird (to me) food combinations. Maybe you're an eggist! You're an egg hater!

Mom's preferred phrase probably would have been the cliche, "it went to hell in a hand-basket" followed by "it builds character"; everything in Mom's book built character.
No, no, no you've got it backward - it's the country gravy I don't like. I like eggs, but the thought of the two together - the way it would look even - makes me say 'eeewww'.
Tell you what - I'll try your weird food combination experiments with eggs and gravy if you try one of my egg/other food combination experiments - a hamburger with wilted baby spinach, sauteed mushrooms, Muenster cheese, a hard-fried egg, with a slight smear of horseradish on the bun. First time I made it Hubs declared it was in the top 3 (maybe 5; I can't remember) burgers he ever had. Last time I made it, he said he was turning over his grill spatula to me.
No? I had a burger you'd probably like Saturday night at a restaurant - it had on it thick slices of apple-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper-jack cheese, and Chipotle sauce (I had them hold the jalapenos though). It was really, really good, and amazingly even after that...(and Friday's Day of Starch and Nearly Nothing but Starch)
Monday Weekly Weigh-in: I lost a pound.

You put that in there because you know it'd make this a "No." Not exactly a fan of pepper-jack but it won't stop me from eating a burger. And after all that you still lost a pound? Good for you!! I'm not weighing in every day yet. I save that for when I want to get mad at myself for not loosing.

I put it on the burgers because it's good. I used that particular egg combo experiment which includes spinach because I knew you wouldn't go for it...and then I wouldn't have to try country gravy and hard boiled eggs!
That's part of my problem, especially concerning my the high cholesterol - I love cheese! All kinds of cheese!
And don't forget the steak dinner on Sunday. Oh, and beers both Saturday and Sunday. But shhh....I weighed myself Thursday or Friday morning last week (I can't remember which) just because I was feeling as if I'd done really good. I really lost 2 pounds last week, but gained one back over the weekend!
I've been trying to stick with weighing myself just once a week - Mondays, because that's the day I first got the scale. Probably a bad day of the week though I'm thinking, just because it's after the weekend; if we're going to go out to eat, stay up late watching movies (and eating popcorn), have a couple of beers, it's going to be during the weekend.

I went fishing with a friend who liked catfish and used the appropriately named "stink bait" on his hook. I put wilted spinach in the same category as stink bait. It'll lore something that'll take a nibble, but I'm not gonna eat it nor taste the thing that eats it.
I prefer Saturday mornings. I'm not sure there's a logical reason behind it, that's just the day I picked. I tell myself it’s because I haven’t had the weekend to destroy anything I accomplished during the week – but it’s as much an arbitrary choice as any other day would be.
Beer - I know - lots of people drink beer including Steppet who occasionally has one. I almost can't. I forced one down once, twice actually, but I just don't like the taste, smell, or after taste. To quote a friend 'BLUCK BLUCK BLUCK!'

Did a little homework for us yesterday morning (I even took a few notes!) by going to a free presentation at the wellness center: "Hot Topics in Nutrition"....which was not about spicy-hot 5-alarm chili, or piping-hot fresh from the oven homemade bread with lots of butter. Drats!
It was interesting though, and we all got fruit smoothies - yum. The nutritionist discussed some of those often confusing and contradictory things you hear concerning healthy eating. Some of what she talked about...
No carb diets - bad. Fifty-five percent of energy your body needs should come from carbohydrates. The carbohydrates though, shouldn't come from refined or processed foods; beans, whole grains, fruits and vegetables are where you should get your carbohydrates.
High protein supplements - bad. They are hard on your kidneys. Instead get a little bit of protein in every meal. Divide your ideal body weight by half, and that amount is the total grams of protein your body needs per day.
Coffee - six 8oz cups per day is acceptable. It's not the coffee itself that is bad; it's the caffeine, and six 8oz cups of coffee doesn't have enough caffeine to adversely affect the health of most people. Caffeinated sodas and those high-energy drinks (like Red Bull) are a different story.
Kale - is it really as good for you as they claim? Yes - depending (like anything) how it's eaten: kale chips, for example, deep fried in oil and covered in salt might as well be potato chips. General rule - the darker green the vegetable, the better it is for you.
Hydrogenated oil. I had this completely backward because the words are confusing. Hydrogenated oil...fully hydrogenated oil is not as bad as partially hydrogenated oil. Hydrogenated oils make saturated fat; you should limit them, but at least your body can process them. Partially hydrogenated oil is far, far more dangerous; they translate into trans-fats, your body can't eliminate them so they keep building and building up, clogging arteries, messing with cholesterol levels, causing heart disease, and other bad stuff.
You shouldn't eat eggs - false. They are loaded with protein, vitamins, and low in calories. Most people can have 2 eggs per day unless they are diabetic.
Speaking of eggs...we went to dinner at Crazy Cheryl's last night; her daughter is home from college on spring break and wanted to try out her newly learned 'I am away from home for the first time so I'd better learn to cook for myself' cooking skills on other people (if it would have LX cooking, everyone would have eaten chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese from a box for dinner). The daughter called the other day, and asked if we liked tofu. Not wanting to be rude, but also not wanting to eat tofu "uhm...no" was my response. She made chicken lo mein instead; very, very good - we were all impressed. Anyway, the eggs....BP finally got her farm fresh eggs, and a chicken too - plucked and ready for the oven, not the backyard.
And when we came home, BP walked into the house and tripped over the dog who hovers at the door when we're gone. Eggs went flying everywhere. Six out of 18 weren't smashed; 2 out of those six she had to cook last night because they were cracked.

Dog sure knows how to get a treat. The cafeteria at the big city hospital had a spinach pizza the other day. I got one. It was okay. Probably would have been a whole lot better had it not been burnt. I finally just peeled off the top and ate it. I've gained weight. Been eating two meals a day, and snacking. Their rice crispy treats are yummy! I've no clue when I'll feel like getting back into some sort of routine. Gotta figure out a routine. Man. I started out ahead, and now I'm behind. Oh well. Summer isn't here yet, and I still have time.

Yeah. I'm going to wait until my body loses this soreness. I'm walking/feeling like I'm a couple of hundred years old. Although, exercise might help make the soreness go away faster? Wonder if it would perk up my fried brain?
Maybe Monday? We shall see how this weekend goes.
