I was more than quite pleased to hear my coffee intake was within the limits! At least that's what I'm convincing myself. I usually have 5 cups in the morning...uhm...at least once a week more later in the day when I meet my friends for coffee...and uhm, I have no idea if my "cups" are 8oz or more.
She talked about tea and red wine too, but I don't drink either so didn't pay attention. (Probably fidgeting in my seat because I had too much coffee before going to the program.)
Yes, yes, and yes (it'll also make you feel like you've got more overall energy.) And it reduces stress, which you've had a lot of lately, I'm sure.
But like Stepper said, start back slowly...especially if you're tired. When you're tired, you tend to do things more sloppily without paying attention to form, and can injure yourself.

If you are using standard cups like the ones that come with a set of dishes, then it'll be 8 oz, but if it's a commercial cup - one that is microwaveable for instance - it's probably more like 10 to 12 oz.
I'm sure tea is even better than coffee 'cause that's what I drink. Same rules though - don't load it up with extras like sugar.
Question: Have you made the three pound challenge? I put on .5 but that still leaves me -7.7 If we’ve both reached the goal, and since Joxcee isn’t playing, should we curtail the diets?

I've always drank my coffee black - except for the cappuccinos, which I stopped drinking every night.
As of last Monday's weigh-in, I've lost the 3 pounds; today's weigh-in shows the same - nothing lost last week/nothing gained (which is a good thing because LX was home, so I got off-track a few times; cappuccinos for example - her friend was home too, and kept bringing me them every time she came to the house!).
Whether you want to stop is completely up to you. I didn't go into this thinking of it as a diet; rather I am changing my eating habits and increasing my exercise level for a healthier life-style. I want to lose 15 pounds in the process, but once I reach that goal, I don't intend to go back to eating a bunch of crap I know isn't good for me.

Sadly, I have further to go than that, but I'm not giving up the crap - just backing off a bit.

I've lost 6 pounds since Tuesday, and not because of all this healthy eating and exercise I've been doing. In fact, it was a cr@ppy way to lose weight: The Dreaded 'Welcome to Being Fifty' Routine Procedure.
Blah.
It'd be great though, if I could keep off that 6 pounds. Unrealistic, I think, but I can hope.

I experienced several days of that - without the need for chemical enhancements like MoviPrep. Fortunately I can eat again, safely. As of the last time I got on a scale I was -14.4, but I'm sure I've put some of that back.

Hope you're feeling better, Stepper.
I've kept off 3 of the 6 pounds I lost during procedure preparation. Exercise plan flew out the window this past week though, unless I count hauling enough dusty, nasty junk out of a basement to fill a 30 yard dumpster mostly by myself. Blah.

Thanks Phalon – I’m certainly not as bad.
I put back a couple of the 14, but I’m still safely down 3+. With all the stress, it wouldn’t surprise me to hear Joxcee is also down more than three. For some, stress will limit appetite and the desire for snacking.

Nearing 40 pounds overweight. Got a good look at it in the full length mirror when trying on dresses Thursday. Gotta figure out something. I DO NOT want to get to 50 pounds overweight.

I've got to get back on schedule with some kind of exercise routine too; since the nursery reopened, I've been too tired at night to do much of any kind of physical activity. The exercise I get at work has been enough to keep off the weight I lost (which is a good thing, considering I'm starving when I get home and feel like I'm eating more than I should at dinner), but I'm not getting the benefits of the 30 minutes of aerobic exercise I was before going back to work.

I'm still extremely sore. I even stopped taking my cholesterol pill in case it was the culprit, which it seems it wasn't. I'm now taking 1,000mg of V-C & 800mg of V-E every day instead. And washing it down with V-8 V-Fusion Pomegranate Blueberry Juice. My sister said when she was getting normal cholesterol levels was when she was drinking this. I keep forgetting to get new Apple Cider Vinegar. Mine is watered down and purified.
Mom is doing really well, so maybe I can finally get back to an exercise routine in a couple of months.

I'm glad to hear that mom is doing well.
That you are so sore is something to be concerned about - what has happened that might have precipitated soreness?
And here's a suggestion - get an eight pack of Gator Aide and drink one bottle a day. And increase your water intake a little.

I'm assuming the soreness is from all the hospital/nursing home chairs. But now that I'm home more these days, it doesn't seem to be easing up any. Seems to be getting worse.

Hope you're feeling a little less sore now that your Mom is doing better, Joxie - less tension in your muscles maybe.
Lost three pounds last week, which brings it to total of nine lost, only six more to go! Wondering why my body seems to do everything in multiples of three? Nothing for three weeks, lose three, nothing for three weeks, etc, etc, and on and on.

Mom will get to come home . . . to my sister's house . . . Monday or Tuesday. I doubt my life will get back to full normal until she is at her home. She's Speedy Gonzales with a walker. We'll all be happy to have her back on her nighttime Cycler. Taking her for Hemo Dialysis 3 days a week is getting expensive and fattening. My sister and I kill time for 4 hours shopping and dining out after dropping Mom off and then going back to get her. Today I bought a mini-stair-stepper. Now I'll have another exercise to add to my routine. If/When I get back to one.

I am sure you mean "when", Joxie. Just five minutes a day on the stair-stepper to start - that is your mission for the next three weeks, should you accept it.

stare stepper - is this something I should know about? Maybe you should take it with you when you take mom, and instead of eating, walk off your excess energy on the stepper. Don't worry, all steppers are used to being walked all over.

ARGH!!! I am back to square one...and then some!
I either: a.) weighed more when we started this than I thought. b.) didn't lose as much weight as I thought. c.) over the last few weeks, gained back some of what I lost d.) a combination of a, b, and c.
The answer is, of course, "d". I've slacked up on both the exercise routine, and snacking discipline - just so hungry and tired when I get home from the nursery, that all of that previous hard work getting fit seems to fly out the window.
I got a new scale last night - an accurate scale, unlike the piece of cr@p scale I bought previously at the dollar-type store around the corner, and paid only $7 for because I could walk there, and not have to drive to Walmart, and actually go into Walmart, which I detest doing. I've had my doubts about the cheapo-scale's accuracy from the beginning, but figured it couldn't be too far off. Pfft!
Oddly though, I am relieved that it's inaccurate.
BP was sick early last week - just a fever, stuffy head, and sore throat; certainly not sick enough to warrant losing fifteen pounds! The kid honestly doesn't have an ounce to spare! She's grown by leaps and bounds since the beginning of the school year. Always about two heads shorter than her friends, everyone always thought she'd be the tiniest of the short women in the Phalon clan - I'm the tallest at slightly under 5'2". When school started, I could rest my chin on the top of her head when I have her a hug. She has since shot past LX in height, and now is just a hair taller than I am. She's still rail-thin though...a skinny bean-pole. She looked to me Monday as if she's lost weight since being sick, and I suggested she get on the scale. We were both shocked! Eighty-five pounds???!!!! That is way, way too skinny for a 5'2" thirteen-year old, and an alarming fifteen pounds lighter than what she thought she weighed. I called the doctor's office yesterday morning, just to be sure she was right about her weight last time she was there; she was correct - in February, she weighed 99 pounds. On the new scale she weighed 94.6 pounds - a slight loss, but about what I expected after eating next to nothing for a couple of days of fever and sore throat. Hubs, her, and I were all relieved.
I, on the other hand, weigh about 12 pounds more than what I did on the other scale.

Aww. Hope she's feeling better. Getting sick when the weather is getting better Hoovers big time. As much as she grew, I'm surprised that she didn't suffer literal growing pains. It was a problem my neighbor's son had - his ligaments (etc) had trouble keeping up with a couple growth spurts and he experienced more than a little discomfort. But based on the pictures you've posted, I agree that BP could not afford that kind of weight loss. Give her REAL food and not that s-word crap. Put some protein on her plate for goodness sakes. And ice cream. Have hubs grill something meaty for her. Make a surprise turkey dinner for LX and put lots of it on BP's plate.
Obvious question - you double checked the original scale, had it on a hard floor?
I wouldn't dismiss the results of the earlier losses, although they may be a bit less dramatic that we originally thought. Since the weigh-ins were relatively consistent, it's probable that the apparent weight losses were real and reflected an apparent loss; if not 100% accurate I suspect the losses were closer to a true comparison than indicated by the new scale. Remember, you commented that some clothes were a touch looser - or fit better or something like that. That's proof of real change.

I did do 5 minutes for a couple of days. And about 2-1/2 minutes for a third day. Then got busy getting Mom home, and doing a little needed cleaning. Mom is now at my sister's house, and back on her Cycler. No more hemo-dialysis. So maybe I'll get a routine set up soonish.

Watch out - I'm sending you back to back 80's! I don't know that it'll affect you all that much since you'll already be having upper 60's and 70s'. And freezing something off is cheating when it comes to losing weight.
You know the east coast already has tropical storm warns for next week?

When? When, when, when?! It's been so flippin' cold here, it's...it's ridiculous; that's the word people who come from anywhere inland use when they step out of their car wearing just a light jacket, and we're all in winter coats still. People have actually gotten back in their cars after a few minutes, and said they'd come back when it's not so cold. "Cooler along the lakeshore" is what the weather forecasters always say (news forecasts come from Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo - neither of which is anywhere near the lake); what they really mean is 'there's a frigid breeze blowing off the lake, and it doesn't matter that it looks absolutely gorgeous outside, you're going to freeze your @ss of unless you dress like it's February". My daily attire is a long-sleeved t-shirt, hoodie, flannel shirt, winter jacket, gloves, and two pairs of socks...I would have long-johns under my jeans, if I could remember or find time to do laundry.
She did too; her legs hurt, her back hurt, and at one time or another, she complained every other part of her body hurt. And she hit puberty at the same time. It's a wonder she made it through alive; it's a wonder any of us did.
I can't remember that I ever posted a picture of her...maybe one that LX did a painting of a long time ago?
Now why would I want to discourage her from eating SPINACH (HA! Said it! Pppbblllpt!), or any other vegetable? Or discourage her now from having healthy eating habits that hopefully, she will carry on into adulthood. Fact - adolescent obesity quadrupled in the last 30 years; 21 percent of adolescents in this country are obese (according to the CDC). She eats pretty good for a teenager - lots of fruits and veggies, doesn't drink pop, no fast food, and no fried foods. She does like chips (only the spicy jalapeno kind), cookies, ice-cream, and is a goldfish cracker junkie. And meat - told me this week as we were picking out steaks at the grocery, that she could never be a vegetarian.
Yes, I actually triple-checked the scale. It's twelve pounds off almost to the ounce. I called the doctor, the day I "acked" at my weight on the new scale, to find out what I weighed my last visit (which is when we started all this), and then "ACK!"ed into the phone with the nurse when she told me what I had weighed....which was twelve pounds more than the first weight I took on the old cheapo-scale (taking into account 1.6 pounds for clothing).
Good news is, I actually did lose 9 pounds...the same amount the cheapo-scale said I lost.
Bad news is, of course, with the 12 pound difference, I now have 18 to lose instead of six. Grrrr.
Yay for you and your Mom, Joxie!
