Years ago, early 2000s, I joined the Official SUSA Xena Netforum. I signed up as: Gabby's Soul Pot. I had lurked there for years, but I didn't want the forum to shut down without never having posted. I joined in on a writing conversation. IIRC, writers were asking Steven Sears screenwriting questions, as he dropped in from time to time to chat with the fandom. I remember being appalled that screenwriters had very little rights to their own works, and that their hard work could be taken away from them once they sold their screenplays. So, I suggested that the screenwriters should turn their screenplays into short stories and then get them published in magazines. That way, as the "author" of the story, they would have more rights, and they would be able to make more money off of their hard work that way.
I wish I had screenshot my comment. Years later several of the screenwriters I followed started publishing novels. I have to admit, I did wonder if that turn of events led back to my comment on the Xena Forum. Over the years, more screenwriters have also become authors. In one of Christine Riccio's videos, she mentioned that she was given the advice to turn her screenplays into novels before trying to sell them as a screenplay. And I wish there was a way for me to know if that advice goes all of the way back to my advice on the Xena Forum. I really want to claim it. I really, really, want to claim that advice as coming from me. My ego is so miffed that I can't prove it as advice I gave back in the early 2000s.
