DESPERATE TV BOSS SETS UP A GETAWAY TO SOOTHE THE WARRING HOUSEWIVES
By ROBIN MIZRAHI
The creator of Desperate Housewives is organizing a luxury retreat for warring cast members, hoping they will forgive and forget their feuds before filming starts on the new season.
The National Enquirer learned of the peace attempt as two of the five actresses were snubbed in the Emmy nominations.
Concerned over the bad blood between Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Nicollette Sheridan and Felicity Huffman, writer-producer Marc Cherry has offered them a weekend together in Palm Springs, Cal. "Marc, who's considered the resident guru for good behavior on the set, wants to jump-start the new filming with a positive vibe," said a showbiz insider. "He hopes gathering the cast at a relaxing, off-set site will help them all work through the stress and pressure of the all-important second season."
Although the show was nominated for 15 Emmys, Nicollette and Eva failed to make the running for the best actress award, which is sure to create even more jealousy among the women, who have already fallen out over salaries, photo-shoots and center-folds. The insider said: "Who knows if everyone will even be willing to attend the getaway."
The retreat — meant to be a close secret — will be held at The Lodge in Rancho Mirage, two hours outside L.A. In an attempt to get the stars to bond, partners are not invited and the women will be told they can't leave the hotel for 48 hours.
"Marc feels the group needs low-key down time together before the chaos sets in," said the insider. "The show is hot, everyone is making a lot of money — but if the actresses hate each other so much there's no chemistry on the set, there's no way it's going to last."
