Gemini Award Presented To 'Stargate Atlantis'

"Stargate Atlantis" recently took home the Gemini Award for Best Visual Effects for their work on the show's pilot episode, "Rising," according to gateworld.net.
The visual effects team of Michelle Comens, John Gajdecki, Bruce Woloshyn, Jinnie Pak, Tom Brydon, José Burgos, Dan Mayer, and Wes Sargen received the trophy, which was one of four nominations in the visual effects category. Their work on "Rising" won over the "Atlantis" episode "The Eye" and the "Stargate SG-1" episodes "Lost City, Part 2" and "New Order, Part 1."
The Stargate franchise had also been nominated for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series to Martin Gero and Best Achievement in Make-Up to Leah Ehman and Todd Masters.
The Gemini Awards are presented by Canadian Cinema & Television, recognizing the best in film and television production in Canada. They are one of the highest honors presented in Canada. The Geminis' twentieth annual awards ceremony were presented in Vancouver, British Columbia.
New episodes of "Stargate Atlantis" and "Stargate SG-1" return to the SciFi Channel on Friday, January 6.
