ABC, WXYZ-TV, Channel 7 Jo Frost wants to eliminate the stress of the holidays and make it a magical time for parents and children.
Sounds like a job for a superhero. Or a supernanny.
Frost, the star of the ABC reality show "Supernanny," has teamed with Pampers and the National Sleep Foundation to educate parents about the importance of getting enough sleep.
Recently, Frost shared her tips on how to make the rest of December less frazzled and more fun.
Sleep. It's important to stick to bedtime routines as much as possible, even if you're throwing a party or spending the night with relatives. "Make sleep a priority, so everybody is able to maintain the enthusiasm and the spirit of Christmas."
Snacks. All things in moderation, from candy canes to eggnog. Remember, "just because we, as adults, allow ourselves to indulge, it doesn't mean that we have to be irresponsible and overindulge our children," advises Frost.
Finding meaning. To teach your kids about the giving side of the holidays, "parents need to set the example," says Frost. They'll learn by watching you volunteer for a favorite charity or donate presents to families in need.
Discipline. Be consistent and don't drag Santa into it. Frost isn't keen on warning kids to behave or Mr. Claus won't bring them anything. "Now poor old Santa, he's being used as a threat alongside Supernanny," laughs Frost. "What can I say?"
