This has happened to me a few times too. I just click "go" and reload the page, and that always loads the whole page. ProBoards have been doing updates of late, so maybe it's when they're adding bug fixes that has the boards act up.

LMAO, Joxie. Would you believe that I never noticed that? Yes, you've heard enough of my questions, to believe it, I'm sure.
Thanks.

I believe it. But hey, it's understandable. I usually ignore the 'go' button and use the enter key on my keyboard instead. Anything to keep from going from the keyboard to mouse to keyboard to mouse.

Hey Joxie...oooo, I just noticed that character count thingy below this box...kinda mesmerizing to watch them tick away...9877, 9870...
Anyway...the purpose of this post....how do I fix my time...it's doing that one hour off thing again, and the time adjuster thing is not in my profile anymore - or maybe I'm just not seeing it...
9655...9650.
Too handy, that is.

I was wondering if anyone would notice that. I just stuck that in Monday or Tuesday night, can't remember which. I still need to check and see if 10,000 is still the limit though. They were going to give us a bigger limit with the upgrade, but I don't know if they've actually done that yet.

Yeah - I like the instant character counter....much better than the other way, which I could never figure out how to use. Comes in handy for those long rambling posts in the stories.

I was ecstatic when I ran across that code, and even happier when I realized it works in all browsers. I figured there must've been a reason they put 10000 in the code (as the limit) instead of 25000. Hopefully they'll raise it as advertised.

How come this won't work gigs? <style> .adminuser:link,.adminuser:visited,.adminuser:hover { color: 70890; font-weight: bold; } .gmoduser:link,.gmoduser:visited,.gmoduser:hover { color: 77BBEE; font-style: italic; } </style> to change admin and global mods name colors. I have tried to put in Global Headers and that didn't work. Then I put it in the Main Header and it didn't work, then I tried just one forum header and it didn't work.

The classes changed with v4. They are now .group1, .group2, etc. instead of .adminuser, .gmoduser, etc.
If you want to make each group the same color throughout the entire forum, get rid of the code completely and just put the color code in when you modify groups (make sure you have that capability before deleting the code... a bug prevents 'le' and 'joxcenia' from modifying groups here and only the main admin account can do it until the bug is fixed). Otherwise, change the class names in the code.
If you use the code method and you're not sure who has what class, view the source code (right-click, view source) and do a quick 'find'. Here, I can see you're in group 3 by searching for >~naj<. I use the brackets because they are around links:
class="group3">~Naj</a>

Oh, and get rid of the javascript that's used with that code, since it's no longer necessary.

gigs, I got this off of California's site and he wrote this for v4. (sigh). Could you tell me the exact code I need to insert and where. Otherwise I don't know how to figure it out. I'm too dumb. And if not I'll go bug California but alot of times I don't understand them when they post their answers. I wanted the admin names that bold grey and the mods that italic blue. edited: In case you want to check his place out sometime: socal.proboards26.com/here's one but it doesnt' work either: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function memberColor(Username,Color){var theMember = document.getElementsByTagName("A") for(mc=0;mc<theMember.length;mc++){ if(theMember[mc].href.indexOf("viewprofile&user=" + Username)!=-1){ theMember[mc].style.color=Color }}} memberColor("admin","696969") memberColor("naj","696969") memberColor("tvfan","2299EE") memberColor("ryebeach","2299EE") memberColor("trubluccfan","2299EE") memberColor("irishkale","696969") //--> </script> I'll keep looking.

I don't see why he would write that for v4 since he knows it isn't necessary to re-name classes that are already named.
Could you give me the link to the exact post?

Assuming adminuser is now group1 and gmoduser is now group2, just do this (I added to your style tag and threw in some html comments for proper coding, but basically all this is doing is changing the class names as per my original reply ): <style type="text/css"> <!-- .group1:link,.group1:visited,.group1:hover { color: 70890; font-weight: bold; } .group2:link,.group2:visited,.group2:hover { color: 77BBEE; font-style: italic; } --> </style> And get rid of the javascript that you posted above.

Actually it's not at California's site. I was at several sites yesterday looking for a code to work. It was at PB's Support in their "Frequently Asked Questions". support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&n=1&thread=1106175098******************** Admin/Gmod name styles This is to give the names of your admins and /or Global Moderators a style seperate from the names of your other members on your forum. Part 1, do no edit it: <style> Part 2, this is the part which changes the admin names edit the bold parts: .adminuser:link,.adminuser:visited,.adminuser:hover { X } Part 3, this is the part which changes the Global Moderator names edit the bold parts: .gmoduser:link,.gmoduser:visited,.gmoduser:hover { X } Ok, where the X is. This is where you need to enter what you want to change the names to, below is a list of options you have: text-decoration: *; Where the * is, you can use the following: none underline overline line-through font-size: 10px; You can just increase, or decrease the 10px until you get the size of font you like. color: *; Where the * is, put the color you want the font to be. font-weight: *; Where the star is, this is the weight of the font, eg, bold. You can use: normal bold lighter bolder font-style: *; Where the star is, this is the style of the font, eg, italic. You can use: normal italic oblique Glow filter:glow(color=red, strength=2); height: 1; Change the red, for the color you want the glow text to glow and change the 2 to the strength you want the glow to be For the width, you may need to increase or decrease the width Shadow filter: shadow(color=red, direction=0); width: 1; Change the red, for the color you want the glow text to glow and change the 0 for the direction, in degrees, you want it to face., these are the values: 0=top 45=top right 90=right 135=bottom right 180=bottom 225=bottom left 270=left 215=top left For the width, you may need to increase or decrease the width NOTE: I highly recommend against using Glow Or Shadow. Part 4, do not edit this part: </style> Part 5, put all the code in your headers. So, if i wanted my admin names to who up as bold and red, and my Global Moderator names to show up blue and italic, this is the code i would use: <style> .adminuser:link,.adminuser:visited,.adminuser:hover { color: FF0000; font-weight: bold; } .gmoduser:link,.gmoduser:visited,.gmoduser:hover { color: 0000FF; font-style: italic; } </style> ********************************** actually they have other stuff posted there that isn't correct like how to get back into your headers/footers if you put incompatible coding on your board and lock yourself out. Like I did! ;D Okay I'll try the code you sugggested. edited: the code worked! That was about the 5th code I used. I had gotten a few off of SSD yesterday and they didn't work either. Thanks!

See? I told you it would work. The last post in the FAQ was made in 2004, so of course a lot of those codes are obsolete, and you thought you had to question me? You're welcome, Naj.

I know their info is outdated. Why post it if they don't have the proper codes in there? It makes it appear that the code is compatible with v4. Well I knew you would know, gigs. But I was trying to locate it on my own even if it took me two hours. ~Naj

Wasn't it here that we had those story games where you had someone pick different words and then you put it in a xena story or something? I was wondering how to do that.

yea, I have a code but can't get it to work. <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- /* Code for user's display name in posts or PMs by california, http://socal.proboards26.com */
var usercode="\\[#username\\]";
var td=document.getElementsByTagName("td"); var dname = (td[2].innerHTML.match(/Hey, (.+?), you/i)) ? RegExp.$1 : 'guest'; var re = new RegExp(usercode,"g"); if(!location.href.match(/(headersfooters|modify)/)){ if(document.title.match(re)){ document.title=document.title.replace(re,dname); } for(i=0;i<td.length;i++){ if(td[i].innerHTML.match(re)){ td[i].innerHTML=td[i].innerHTML.replace(re,dname); } } } // --> </script> goes in global footer. i'm a bit confused as to what I actually type in the thread I want to create. Hey, #username. check this out cause that doesn't work.

Try adding the \\ after it and see if that works: #username\\ ... or leave off both the \\ & # and just try: username ... and if either does work then change it to LurkerLoo ...or to lurkerloo ... if that doesn't work you'll have to wait for Le to help... I don't know nothing about html.

It was mentioned somewhere that a lot of the codes in that FAQ thread aren't compatible with v4, and they haven't gotten around to editing all those posts or written a new FAQ yet. I appreciate the attempt. Or javascript. At first glance: California's lurkerloo code depends on seeing "Hey, username" in order to work, so I believe it might be the code that deletes that cell all together that is messing you up. Try putting the lurkerloo code above this code... ... so the lurkerloo code can read the welcome cell before the other code deletes it, and see if that works.

Well the code is getting too long for me. It doesn't work unless I just don't know what format to use the code in a thread. At the risk of locking myself out of the headers/footers, maybe I should pass on this code. ;D

You just have to type [#username] anywhere you want the name to appear.

I just found a bug with the code. When I put [#username] in a thread title, I couldn't access the main page of the board the thread was in.
Everything was fine if I just put it in a post, though.

You just have to type [#username] anywhere you want the name to appear. Okay so I put this code: <script language="javascript"> <!-- tablew = document.getElementsByTagName('TABLE'); for(t=0;t<tablew.length;t++) { if(tablew[t].width=="92%"){ tablew[t].width='600'; } } document.getElementsByTagName('tr')[1].deleteCell(1); document.getElementsByTagName('font')[1].innerHTML=''; //--></script> before the other code I posted at the top of my Global Footers, California said to put the code first in the GF. Then when I want to make a new thead I type: Hey, [#usermame] read this. (example of thread topic)

If you put
first, it's just going to delete the cell before the [#username] code can read it. You have to put the [#username] code before the cell deletion code. At least I believe that's the case, but you can try it the other way first.
Also, document.title=document.title.replace(re,dname); is supposed to change the blue title line but doesn't work, at least not in my IE browser.
