Anyone ever have your media players get all screwy? Someone sent me something to download last week in my yahoo and yahoo scanned it and said it was okay. Then I downloaded it and my windowos media player played all the music except the person's voice. Then I looked at all the other stuff I already have that's downloaded and pulled them up to play and they were doing the same thing. they were all fine ealier in the day because I use this stuff daily. NowI can't listen to online streaming interviews, or music or diddly sqat. Do I uninstall my windows media, realplayer and quicktime and start from scratch? I tried to download a new Windows media 10 and that did nothing. then I got rid of the Windows Media 9 series and .... well you can see it's now beyond my knowledge. So of my already downloaded files allow to me hear everything but the lead signer vocals. What happened?

And I thought I was the only one that runs into problems that nobody else seems to have. I never use WMP, so I'm not very familiar with it. Are you able to hear the vocal tracks if you use a different media player to play the downloads? You mentioned Real Player, did you try that? From Microsoft's WMP newsgroup:(Click on "Cannot see 2nd audio track" link) Maybe the download your friend sent you somehow disabled the main audio track? WMP Q&A — The page is extremely long and deals with WMP, so it might have the answer you need. If all else fails, I suppose you could try Microsoft's WMP diagnostic tool. I've never downloaded it myself, and I don't know if it would help you. I hope you find something in the links that can help.

Oh how this suc*s. Yes, it affected all my media players and even just going online and listening to a streaming audio interview. Well, initially, that's what seemed to happen. But yesterday I couldn't get anything to play. I will look at your links and if I can't do anything I'm installing all the players. I don't know what else to do. I have checked my SOUND in the control panels. There's not much there to do with those. Maybe this has happened to someone else here. Anyhow, I'm off to go look around. Thanks for the links. ~Naj

Actually, L, the links you gave me were where I was and was going to try but I didn't know what to do. Well, for now, I got back up my streaming audio from the internet. I downloaded that Windows Media tool but I'm reading there is a problem with WM10 audio. Anyhow I uninstalled my quicktime, realplayer and some kind of duplicate of WM and I at leasst have my web radio and other radio audio up and back working. I'm kinda afraid to open up a video right now. I'll be happy with this than nothing for now.

If you haven't installed anything else in a while, you might be able to use system restore to revert back to WM9. But if it's working at least a little right now, I don't know if you want to mess with it. You're welcome. I wish I could help you better.

So far my windows media is working and I can access things online. I haven't tried to do anything in RealPlayer since I wiped that one off the computer. Yea, I orignally did a "rollback" (as they call it now) to WM9. But then I have it at WM10 as of right now where it was. So I'll just stay where I am. So you think this is just working temporarily? I'll just have to cross my fingers longer then.

I don't blame you for wiping RealPlayer from your computer. I don't like RP one bit. Maybe it was just NOT working temporarily. I think you should keep things the way they are unless it starts messing up again.

When that happens, the whole server (91) is having the problem, not just your forum. There's nothing you can do about it.
As you can see, Server 92 is having a problem as of this posting time. (« Reply #10 on Today at 3:24pm USA Central Daylight Savings Time ») Usually, if this keeps up, they move some of the boards to a different Server to solve the problem.
The ProBoards Support Forum is where you go when you're having problems with your forum. (Not that you can't ask here too.) If Le or I don't know the answer/s, the Support Forum will be your best place to find help.
