What will they think of next? Talking Virus Taunts VictimsBy Jennifer Dudley September 15, 2004 VIRUSES no longer simply irritate computer users - now they verbally taunt them as well. A Turkish virus has proven the point by infecting computers using Windows XP and using its voice software to talk to unsuspecting users while deleting vital system files. The Amus virus spreads via e-mail with the heading "Listen and Smile". Once the e-mail attachment is opened, the worm virus uses the Microsoft Speech Engine to speak to the user. The virus forces the computer to say: "How are you. I am back. My name is Mister Hamsi. You must come to Turkey. I am cleaning your computer. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. 0. Gule. Gule." (sic) "Hamsi" is a small, anchovy-like fish found in the Black Sea and "gule gule" is Turkish for bye-bye. Click here to read the full story...
