Kathy Reichs Biography

Kathy Reichs is a forensic anthropologist for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of North Carolina, and for the Laboratoire des Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Quebec. She is one of only fifty forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and is on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. A professor of anthropology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Dr. Reichs is a native of Chicago, where she received her Ph.D. at Northwestern. She now divides her time between Charlotte and Montreal and is a frequent expert witness in criminal trials.

Kathy on Bones

I have always loved the idea of taking my character, Temperance Brennan, from traditional literature to the small or big screen. I love writing novels, but there are more plot lines than I can work into a lifetime of books. My years of experience in the lab and at the crime scene have provided a storehouse of ideas that are intense, chilling, heartwarming, and powerful. Television will now provide the opportunity to share theses stories through a brand new medium.

I always love it when writers get together with experts to make sure the details are plausible. It sounds to me that the stories for Bones will be coming directly from novels that have already been written by the expert, so this should be especially interesting.
