'Bones,' 'War at Home' Get Full Seasons on FOX
(Wednesday, October 12 01:49 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) FOX has picked up two more of its freshman series for full seasons, adding nine more episodes to both "Bones" and "The War at Home."
Both have performed reasonably well in their time periods, helping the network enjoy a much more successful start to the 2005-06 season than it did last year. Both are set to return to the schedule after FOX finishes broadcasting baseball's World Series.
Through its first three episodes, "Bones" has averaged about 8.7 million viewers per week and a respectable 3.1 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic. The show stars Emily Deschanel as a forensic anthropologist who teams with an FBI agent (David Boreanaz) to solve crimes.
Its ratings could get a major boost come January if FOX sticks with its previously announced plan to place "Bones" in the post-"American Idol" timeslot.
"The War at Home," meanwhile, has found its place among the network's animation-heavy Sunday comedy block. The family comedy starring Michael Rapaport and Anita Barone averages just over 8.5 million viewers per week and has done a good job of holding onto the audience of its lead-in, "The Simpsons," retaining about 80 percent of the venerable cartoon's viewers. Its 4.1 rating among adults 18-49 makes it the No. 2 new comedy of the season in that demographic, behind NBC's "My Name Is Earl."
FOX has now ordered full seasons of three of the seven new series on its fall lineup; "Prison Break" earned its back nine late last month. "Head Cases" was quickly cancelled, while the fates of "Kitchen Confidential," "Reunion" and "Killer Instinct" have yet to be determined
