Secrets from the Set of 'Threshold'
November 19, 2005
CBS' sci-fi thriller "Threshold" moves to Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. on Nov. 22, and executive producers DAVID HEYMAN, who also executive produced 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,' and BRANNON BRAGA want to get the word out.
"The network has been enormously supportive of the show and CBS traditionally is very supportive of its shows," Brannon says. "You can call it a second chance. Our numbers have been decent. It is not as if we were tanking on Fridays, but they want the numbers to be better."
To facilitate the move to Tuesday night, the producers cut together a one-minute trailer that is going to air just prior to the "Progeny" episode. It is a subtle reminder of who the team is and what is going on for fans, but it also contains enough information for new viewers to catch up.
Sneak peeks for the season include:
Molly (CARLA GUGINO) will have romantic tensions with Cavennaugh (BRIAN VAN HOLT). There is also something going on with Ramsey (PETER DINKLAGE), but it may be one sided. There is a character that will be introduced in an upcoming episode who turns out to be a vigilante. He is a unique infectee, who is neither alien nor quite human, who is killing off other aliens, and whom Molly is going to have an interesting romantic subtext with. So Molly will have a lot of suitors.
CATHERINE BELL ("JAG") is going to join as a recurring team member. The Red Team needs someone with expertise in genetic engineering, because of all these weird food experiments that the aliens are doing to contaminate the food supply, and she has the necessary knowledge.
We will finally meet Lucas' (ROB BENEDICT) fiancée in an upcoming episode. She, too, will be a recurring character. She will be a research physician at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. Lucas is going to go through a very traumatic experience, having watched the alien video in the pilot, and he starts to unravel. She is going to come into the story when they can't tell her what is going on with Lucas, and she is not allowed to see him. She is going to become a source of conflict for Molly.
Gunneson (WILLIAM MAPOTHER) -- the refrigerator dude -- returns in a very unexpected way when he appears in Molly's nightmares.
"We are definitely picking up threads from previous episodes and paying them off," Brannon concludes.
