Thanks to Ernie for posting this info! If you put in your DVD player here: www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks it'll tell you if you can make it play region 1 discs. With mine, I had to do something stupidly simple like open then tray and press 1,2,3 on the remote, and now it plays all regions fine. I managed to get hold of the Best Buy versions of the US DVDs for seasons 1-3 brand new off e-bay (and for half the price I payed for the UK ones).

4110 DVD players listed and yours isn't on there? It sounds like you have my kind of luck. I wonder if there's a way you can request a hack, because maybe it can be done with yours, but it's just that no one has posted it. Then again, I suppose anyone visiting the site with that knowledge would've posted the hack by now.

Think it may have to do with the fact that I got my DVD early in the game. I remember a few months ago, a co-worker and I were working on my laptop and he installed some software to enable me to view DVDs from other regions. Haven't tried it out yet, but I also didn't ask for it. He just installed it on here. LOL

Sounds like a nice co-worker. ;D You should try out that new software. Make sure the screen saver is disabled, though. The first time I rented a DVD and played it on my computer, I forgot to disable mine.

Some dvd players made in Brazil are already multi-regional, so I never bothered to 'hack' anything. We just go to the store and ask "I want a multi-regional dvd player"

Hi Oldchakram Anyone could probably get a multi-regional player these days, and I think that's definitely the way to go if you're already planning on buying a new player. But if someone already has a DVD player, why not hack it instead of spending the extra money on a new one? Especially if it's as easy to hack as Ernie's was. Of course, I haven't read any of the hacks on that site, so some of them might be more complicated than that, in which case a non-electronically-inclined person might be better off buying a new one.

wow - what a bump - Those 'hacks' are also tested and published in sound & video magazines. As far as I know, Sony dvd players are the only which can be converted using a special remote control. Anyway it will be better if you can change your player to 'Region 0' or 'code 0' - it will play everything.
