Hi, I'm new to this board, but I've been a xenite since about the 6th grade. I'm now in college and I'm doing a class project for a theatre costume class. We all got to choose our own assignments, and I chose to do Xena's breastplate. I've been trying to do some research to see what other xenites have done in their process for making Xena armor. I've seen some stuff about polyurethane, but I haven't found much (surprisingly). Has anyone here had any experience with making Xena armor? I'm specifically looking for what sort of supplies/materials I would need. I'm focusing only on the breastplate, nothing else: Any information would really help. Thanks.

Xena costume
Have you thought to do a paper mache model of the breastplate . . . then wrap it in aluminum foil?

Making a breast-plate out of paper-mache is doable. Here's a woman who made one patterned after Xena's out of some nearly-indestructable super-doper special paper-mache stuff. She gives detailed instructions: www.britta.com/costumes/amazon/index.htmlAnd another woman who made one out of twisted copper wire - a heavy metal mama called, Twisted Amazon Sister? www.toddscostumes.com/Xena%20Fans/casey_wohlwend.htmI dunno - the only breast plate I ever made was a platter of turkey white meat. Or the one I painstakingly painted with a template I made on my daughter's Halloween costume years ago. Good luck to you, xenaqueen, and welcome to Whoosh.
