I'm like that too. I won't give my credit card number to just anyone, and I think it's good to be paranoid about things like that. I asked several people about PayPal before starting an account with them, and my stepdad has bought things through TigerDirect on more than one occasion without any problems and highly recommended them. When I first registered my domain and paid for my webhosting, I used PayPal to pay for it so I wouldn't have to give my host any info, but I used my cc to pay the renewal after they had gained my trust. I also checked them out on the Better Business Bureau's website before doing business with any of them. To date, those and AOL are the only 4 companies I have ever given any financial info to over the internet. It took me a couple of years to get up the courage to do that, too, because I'm probably one of the most (reasonably) paranoid people you'll ever meet on the net. Heck, I'm still mulling over whether I want to finally go public with my real first name. I hope your current computer holds up for you.

Thanks for all that info' Le, you sound as careful as myself. Paranoid but totally normal, I think that sums us both up pretty well don't you? It took you two years, with me it's been a little longer then that, so maybe, just maybe, I may take the plunge soon. Have you ever experienced any problems at all? ?? p.s. Perhaps we should start a new thread, '' Guess Lesigner Girl's real first name ''.

You're welcome, Katina. Yes, I think we have just about the right amount of paranoia to keep us safe. I don't know if you'd call that normal, though, because don't people usually go to one or the other extreme? Meaning, some people will post their full name without realizing how easily it would be to find them in real life, or what kind of people might be reading that info, and some will quickly respond to those fake eBay and PayPal emails, giving their name and password to scammers wanting to get into their accounts to get their financial info... While others are just super-paranoid and freak out over anything and everything. However, those extremes aren't nearly as common as having easy-to-guess passwords, like admins of Lord of the Rings boards having "Frodo" for their password. You should take the plunge. If you ask around, check the BBB site, and don't fall for those fake emails trying to get your passwords *, you should be ok. And to answer your question, I've had 2 transactions with TigerDirect and a few with PayPal, and I haven't had any problems with any of them. *Read PayPal's tips to Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Emails and Websites. Many of the same tips apply for most other eCommerce websites as well. I think a "Guess Lesigner Girl's real first name" thread would be fun. There are a few people here who already know, so they'll have to be excluded. Most people should have enough info to guess, if they've been reading my posts, know what name I used on Whoosh's staff page and how I came up with it, and read my I vs E comments to Corin recently in this forum.
Yes, G-Stick, you are sly.
