It's about time Kyra Sedgwick got a lead role in something. She's a good actress (her credits include Born on the Fourth of July, Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, Singles, Phenomenon, Behind the Red Door, Just a Kiss and Secondhand Lions, as well as Something to Talk About and Miss Rose White, both of which earned her Golden Globe nominations), but I've only seen her in supporting roles. It's just too bad I don't have cable to see here in The Closer. Kyra plays Deputy Chief Brenda Jean Johnson, a police detective with the reputation as the world's best interrogator. Her approach has a way of irritating her colleagues, but they soon grow to respect her. The Closer premieres June 13, 2005 on TNT. Cast:Kyra Sedgwick Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson Michael Arturo Detective G.W. Bailey Detective Lt. Provenza Anthony John Denison Andy Flynn Robert Gossett Capt. Taylor Corey Reynolds Sgt. David Gabriel J.K. Simmons Asst. Police Chief Will Pop Jon Tenney Fritz Howard

I was asking about the show and how good it looked on another thread. I like Kyra as an actress and the promos make her seem like a get down to the nitty gritty like the shields glenn close.

I saw her on The Early Show yesterday and she is a dead ringer for Kathryn Morris. They both have the same mannerisms. And the show kinda reminds me of Cold Case. Here's the website: alt.tnt.tv/tntoriginals/closer/I won't be able to tune in on June 13, I only have basic cable right now. ~Naj

Oh cool I didn't miss it. I thought it premiered tonight but it wasn't on my guide so I was lost and now when you see the commercial for it it says consult your local listings. Yeah right with my attention span...I forget until I see another ad. Maybe I should do something about that.

Oh I loved the first two eps. The pilot was cool here cause it was aired commercial free. Kyra is very quirky and the audience has to guess what she is thinking along with her coworkers. Plus her phone convos with her family are like looking in a mirror. I was concerned that it would be way bubble gum but this show actually gives you the same bs real law enforcement are faced with on a daily basis...ie getting test results back takes time, daily workplace harrassment us women are supposed to have a sense of humor about, all the politics involved and then the ever occuring too many chefs in the kitchen theory, proven without a doubt the soup sucks cause everyone has their own recipe. The cases she is working on have depth as well. You are either following along or you are caught off guard by the way it unfolds. All in all the show won me over. I will be taping and watching. So what was everyone elses opinion on the show?
