[/move][/font] On behalf of Cyrene and the staff we are glad to re-open the doors to all our patrons, old and new. Stop in, pull up a stool and grab a bite to eat or drink and chat with all your friends as they drop by.
In honor of the new site and the upcoming holiday. Cyrene will be keeping a big bowl of chips and salsa: hot (fireworks hot) and mild (for us wimps) out for your enjoyment. We also have the margarita machines moved in, so you will find a steady supply of regular and strawberry margaritas to cool your mouth. Especially after eating Cyrene's fireworks salsa. Cyrene said as the summer goes and you have other flavors you'd like to try for margaritas, just let her know. She's getting adventurous in her "old age" Just don't tell her that or she'll come after you with the
Hope you all enjoy the new "watering hole".Lucystar and

Hi Lucystar! Ah, this place is feeling more and more like home everyday. It's great to have Cyrene's back, and who better to bring it back than the Tavern's founder?

Thanks Gig. I'm guessing I was about to be used as a target for the for the delay in opening Cyrene's doors. I hope the "new" Cyrene's gets as busy as all the old ones were. By the way, the new place looks great LS

Hey, my old chair is still over there in the corner where I left it.
<grabs a bowl of salsa and chips, a margarita, and heads back to the corner table. leans back in the chair against the wall, and balances it on it's back two legs - exactly the thing her mother always told her not to do, and exactly what she tells her own daughter not to do, claiming one day she'll lose her balance and end up on the floor.>
It's thundering and lightening out now. Think I'll just ride out the storm here. Good thing there is plenty of salsa and margaritas. If someone finds me on the floor in the morning, I did not lose my balance from leaning back in the chair like Mom always said I would. Blame it strictly on the margaritas.

Hey everyone!
I looked high and low for this place for a few days. Finally stumbled upon it today. Glad to see it made the move.
Phalon, we have had so many thunderstorms in the last week that it is eerily quite when they take a break. "they" say that the drought our region has suffered from for so many years in a row may finally be over.
My weeds are growing weeds. Phew! or Pfft as you would say.
Thanks LucyStar for the drinks and snacks. I will try and reorganize an old tradition of having coffee ready in the mornings for any that get an early start, or for those like Phalon, who never left the place.
BTW, it probably is not too hard to figure out that erco used to be erocfanO2 at the old board. And before that I was erocfan at the even older board. I'm worn out. Is all this moving done?
Have a great day. I am off to the coast for a few days this coming weekend for a bit of sun, fun and relaxation. Oh wait, what was I thinking? My sisters and all the kids are coming.

Have a good trip, Eroc. Hope you enjoy the sun and the fun, even if relaxation is out of the question with your sister's kids along. Kids and relaxation don't often go hand in hand, do they?
Hope everyone has a good Friday.
Later, and sweet dreams.

Icky day today. I'm blaming it on the full moon, (because one always needs something - anything - to blame a bad day on).
I'll leave some fresh raspberries in the fridge. My favorite berries. They go great on vanilla ice cream. Or in margaritas. Eat them quick - they don't last long.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July weekend.

Oh geeze, LS! I missed your post! Sorry about that. Nope there was no bullseye on your head for the delay. I figured you'd do it eventually. I too hope Cyrene's is as busy as it's ever been. It should, without all the posting bugs of the old place, and with all the new people who have joined (and will be joining) us since after the move. BTW, thanks for the compliment. Oh, I thought I heard someone come in. Caught me napping in the corner.
Hello Piper and Lizzbitt. First round of drinks for newcomers is always on the house. Or, at least I hope it is, cuz that's what I've always told people. Dang, maybe my tab here has grown to portions insurmountable over the years. I wonder if Cyrene will let me work it off slowly. Here, let me wash those couple of glasses for you.

Hiya Xengab. Hey Melodic Mistress, (whoo-boy, that is a mouthful, especially after a few margaritas. A nickname? M&M perhaps?)
Hello there, Lou. I heard over in the other place that congratulations are in order. I think this deserves a round of drinks on the house for everybody.
Make mine a coffee please. Way too much tonight anyway, so what's another cup? Plus, it's quite chilly out here tonight - really weird July weather. Oh, and don't forget the Baileys.

I beg to differ there, Gig. Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot is quite tasty for a cheap wine - so cheap in fact, you have to serve it out of plastic cups. Actually, I don't think I've ever had a blackberry merlot that is not cheap. A friend of mine invited me over last week to share a bottle, (she painted a room in her house a merlot color, and by association we decided some wine was in order). Hers though, was a different brand - more expensive so we drank out of glass tumblers instead of plastic cups. It didn't taste any better than Wild Vines, so I decided the 2.00 difference in price between the plastic cup wine, and glass tumbler wine was not worth it.
And a cheap wine tip for you all....Never drink wine that comes in a box - it has dastardly effects and will cause kitchen brawls.
Sorry your day was wearing. Here's to a better tomorrow. (Geesh, I'm starting to sound like a Disneyland ride.)

The sun'll come out, tomoAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!! Don't put that song in my head! Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot, huh? I'll have to try it sometime. I'm drinking my Boone's out of a plastic cup right now, and my back is starting to feel a lot better than it was a couple of hours ago. I've only had two cups, though, and they're pretty small, with ice taking up about half of the cup. But I feel like I might actually be able to sleep soon. We sell some of that wine in a box at the store where I work, and all I can think of is how hard it must be to serve up. Thanks for the warning about the side effects, now I won't be tempted to try it. I work an 8-hour shift tomorrow, getting off at midnight. But luckily, I'll have the next two days after that off, so I'll be able to recouperate then.

About once a year my mom tells me of the horrors of alcohol by recounting the same story of she and her sister splitting a bottle of strawberry hill in high school and puking their guts out. Pretty tame I would say.
I do like the strawberry hill, though I'm more of a melon and that blue tropical kind fan. (Yes, Im still young enough to base my beverage choices off of color and sugar content.) I think you should drink it out of the bottle. Plastic cups are too good for boones farm. No not really. Plastic cups are too good for Mad Dog.
And what about man oh manischewitz or mogen david. Those are some cheap wines. Good with a little 7 up if you're into the spritzer thing.

"...that blue tropical kind..."Ah yes, the blue juice! That's good stuff, too! Your mom actually puked her guts out after only half a bottle of Strawberry Hill? She must have weighed about 80 pounds and drank it on an empty stomach.

I know, isn't it hilarious? To this day she wont touch the stuff. She probably just had the flu or something. The really funny thing is I've heard all the actual rowdy stories too, but she can't seem to get over this one.

Yep, could've been the flu. If you think that's not what made her sick, maybe you could buy some wine coolers that look like Strawberry Hill, then give her some Strawberry Hill in a glass and tell her it's a wine cooler. That should get her over her fear, after you tell her the next day what she was really drinking and she sees that she didn't get sick from it.

A quick hello before I'm off to bed. No, no, Gigs and Dobs - don't let me interrupt your in depth conversation about the merits of Strawberry Hill. Never had the stuff, myself, although now that dang I found my thrill, on Strawberry Hill song is bouncing around in my head. Thanks a bunch.
Sanded drywall mud and painted all day and into the night. Just now called it quits until tomorrow. Why do simple little projects snowball into headaches on a grand scale?
Later. Have a great Thursday.

Blueberry Hill popped into my head a few times today too, lol. It sounds like you had a busy day, Phalon. Sanding drywall is no small project. What were you remodeling? Welcome to Cyrene's, ReneeisXena! Of course you can join us! Did I hear beer? Better make mine a rootbeer tonight. I'm uploading, and wouldn't want to upload the same folder twice. Excellent choice of avatars, btw.

Hi scrappyamazon! Hmmm... Well, there's tequila (for the margaritas), so they might have some Jack around here. I've never tried ordering it here, so I'm not sure. As for me, I think I'll take a cup of coffee. I've been up all night playing, and alcohol would probably put me out before 8:00.

Blueberry Hill...Strawberry Hill. What the hill - I'm always mixing these things up.
Of course Cyrene's serves Jack, (and anyone else who has a few dinars to throw on the bar), Scrappy Amazon. What respectable tavern wouldn't? And Cyrene's is quite respectable, although that can not always be said of its patrons. <looking the other way to avoid those knowing stares thrown in her direction> Who me?
Gig, the project is the kitchen. It started out innocently enough...I've had some fabric for years that I've always intended to have made into curtins for the kitchen. I finally got around to having them made, and thus needed to paint the walls, cabinets, and trim to match. (and yes, I tend to do things backwards...match the kitchen to the curtins and not the curtins to the kitchen).
Only problems being...and this is where the nightmare starts...The kitchen really needs to be gutted - a 100 year old house, and some of the walls are still plaster, some drywall - all papered over by about three layers and paint on top of that. The gutting won't take place for at least another five years, (too many other things to do first). So I figured we'd just slap a coat or two of paint on the already painted papered walls. Just take off the hideous border. Ack! The border is contact paper and no matter how cautious I am, layers of the old paper come with it. Now we've got to mud to smooth out the rough edges. Then sand. Then prime. I'm starting to fear this simple little project will be going on for months.
Sheesh. Give me a shot of Jack.
