Well, well it's starting to get a little busier in here. Do sit down, xengab. Guess I'll have a cup of coffee seeing as how it's so early and I'm on the job. Make that with milk and ice. I like my coffee tan and on the hot side of warm. It has to be fairly chuggable. I only sip at night.
Phalon, I fished a rocking chair sans seat cushion out of the dumpster the other day. Why don't you whip one up for me as long as youre already project-ing. Typically I wouldnt bother with a cushion but this is the kind of chair that was made to have one.

Dobs, you dumpster diver, you. Glad to learn of your trash-picking ways. I've gotten some of my best finds that way - or at least on the side of the road. I draw the line at going through dumpsters. Never know what could be in there....then again, you never know what could be in there. Does this cushion thing involve sewing? Read above, I had my curtins made. I paid someone to do it. I do not sew. Not even buttons. Or Brownie patches. Ever.
Weird - the coffee thing. Even in the heat of summer, I can not stand anything but piping hot coffee. It's got to be so hot, that is needs to be sipped and not gulped. But sheesh, does it ever burn if you happen to spill it. Dumped a cup on myself the other week, and Ouch! Couldn't even sue myself. I would have lost, either way.

You weren't kidding, were you, Phalon? Your next two shots are on me. If I didn't have to work six days next week, I'd probably offer to help you out, but I'll need that day off to catch up on some of my own stuff. Maybe in 5 years, I can bring over a sledge hammer and help you with the gutting, though. ;D

Yep, Gig - the destruction is the fun part. I say, we get a couple of sledgehammers, a box of cheap wine, and tear down these old walls, (if, that is, in five years I won't be too feeble to swing a sledgehammer).
Hi Eirene - welcome to Cyrene's.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

TEXTHey all and how was evryone's independance day? We had a bit of natures fireworks due to all the electrical storms. They are already starting today and I still have tons of work to do on the puter. Darn. At least I got a chance to stop by and say howyadoing before placing my nose to the grindstone. By now I should have it honed to a fine point. *Turning towards the barkeep...I'll take a mead pleade...oops sorry didn't mean to poke ya with my nose here*
Hope all is well with everyone. Everyone have a drink on me!!!GP

Welcome to Cyrene's, Eirene! Have a drink on me. I agree, Phalon, smashing things with sledgehammers is fun. ;D I like your plan, and I doubt you'll be too feeble. You're supermom, and supermom doesn't get feeble. GP, it didn't storm here, but we had pouring rain. I had to work until 10pm that night anyway, so it didn't really make a difference to me. I hope you had a good one!

Hi GP. Hi Gig. So you're both giving away drinks? Great, I just finished painting for the night, and could use a couple. The trim is almost done - Whoo-hoo! (doing things backwards again to avoid the papered walls getting any worse from the tape being pulled off).
On second thought, I guess I'd better call it a night. Those Jack Daniels shots that Joxie left me the other night nearly did me in.
Have a great Monday.

Rats, no sewing eh? I didnt read that. Guess Ill have to find another personal slave.
Oh and it was actually next to the dumpster, not in it. I also got a little table the other day. Homemade but good enough to suit my puposes. There's a tv out there now. Im thinking of dragging it in just to see whats wrong with it. Almost got a webber grill but someone beat me to it. Weve got a regular salvation army by our trash cans.

Xie! Glad to see you've found the cookie trail and followed it in here. Been saving your regular seat.
Uhm...Xena fans, sledgehammers and alcohol? In my house? Would there be anything left standing?
ScrappyAmazon - are the symbols you are asking about the little pushpin thingys and the paper? No clue what the paper means, but the pushpin keeps the thread up top.
Eirene - yes, there is always a pot of coffee going here. Usually Eroc makes it, (I wonder where she's off to). Never drink it if it's made by Xie. (Sorry Xie, but dang, yours is strong enough to wake the dead. Of course, sometimes that could be quite helpful, particularly after those late nights.)
Dobs, sounds like you live next to a treasure trove. My latest find - an old window. I noticed it standing next to someone's garage for quite awhile, and one day when out walking with Baby Phalon, stopped and asked the owner what he was planning on doing with it. "Trash", he says. "I'll take it", says I. It's very long and very deep, a bit of dry rot, but they make that wood hardener stuff to remedy that. I plan on painting it, taking out the glass and replacing it with batting and fabric, (no sewing, just staples), and using it as a headboard for BP. I picked it up a few days later when out running errands. Threw it in the trunk, and forgot about it for about a week. Oops. Hubs used the car to get groceries, found it and I had to hear again the "You are cluttering up my garage with junk" speech. Stuck the window in with the collection other other windows and old doors that I have big plans for that is currently gathering dust in his garage.
Oh man - the first blueberries of the season are ready. Big and sweet. I'll leave a bunch here. Maybe someone will feel the urge to whip up a batch of blueberry muffins? Or blueberry pancakes. Mmmm.

Good morning everyone!
Sorry about not having the coffee ready in the mornings Phalon. I have been getting a late start every morning for about a week now. Just too hot to be in too much of a hurry.
Hi Eirene. Welcome and I will get that coffee started in a jif.
Sorry Phalon, I don't do pancakes, but if anyone else wants to take a crack at them I would sure enjoy them.
I have a cat update in case anyone has been keeping a head count. As of yesterday, we became the proud owner of our 5th, yes I said 5th stray cat. And wait, did I say proud owner. Yikes!
Does anyone around here speak cat? How about LucyStar? I swear there must be signs, in cat language directing all strays to my house. I'm sure the signs read "If looking for a sucker, follow the arrows". My vet is currently holding post dated checks from me for the next century.
We have 4 females, now the latest is a male. He is currently being held in quarantine in a large cage on my front porch for 10 days. He got a little bit too playful and drew a little blood. Vet won't give him any shots until we observe him for a while to make sure he doesn't have rabies. You should see his set up on the porch. His cage is very large, big enough for a bed, litter box, toys, scratching post and food and water. Although my porch is covered, the afternoon sun can still be bad so he has an enourmous umbrella shading him and fan to cool his whiskers.
A review of their names. Pewter, Paisley, Piper, Piddle and now Porter, the new one. Just write crazy across my forehead.
Have a great day.

Thanks for the info Phalon......i was just curious. How about the little flaming folders? I love old windows, they make great photo frames. They add a liitle character. I'll take my blueberries au-natural if you don't mind. Havn't had fresh ones since I lived in Indiana. Mmmmm! Thanks!
Erco- There is no such thing as a sucker when it comes to rescuing animals. It wasn't that long ago that we had 13 dogs, 3 cats and 1 rabbit between us. (Can you tell I work with a rescue group?) We have lost a few over the last couple of years and are down to 5 dogs, 2 cats. I loved them all with equal abandon. Thank you for your compassion.
Hope every one has a good day!!!

Walking in and grabbing a seat on my favorite stool. Whew. A margarita please...extra rita.
Hey all how are things going...sorry about the last post but I went to edit out all my mistakes and an electrical storm hit with no warning and whammo the power went pop and the computer screen went dark...boohoo...
Cat speak you ask erco...I wish only cause I think mine is nutz and I would love to have the proof.
Hope all is well with the world. Not alot is going on around here. Oh I do have a question to pose though.
If you were working at a gas station and a firetruck full of firefighters in full gear show up and tell you they need gas to get to the house that is on fire down the street, but they don't have any money for the gas...What would you do?
It amazes me that a cashier would ever deny the purchase. Heck I would put it on my own card and know that they would reemburse me or that I was doing something for the greater good. But this jerk...what does he do? Oh he says no and the firefighters showed up 30 minutes late to a fire.
What in the world are people thinking these days? What if it was their house? Anyway that is my rant for the day.
I'll take another drink please...lots of slush for me please...the colder the better. Mmmm... Anyone care to join me?

Congrats Eroc, on being the proud new cat owner. Quite the kitty litter you have going there. And all starting with Ps, (have quite the need for kitty litter, I bet). Don't you mix up their names? My daughters' names both start with the same letter and we are forever saying one name when we mean the other. Of course, Dad always did that with my brothers, and their names are pretty much on opposite ends of the alphabet. Eventually they grew used to it, and stopped correcting him. I remember one brother saying though, he'd draw the line if Dad ever started calling him by my name.
Understand cat speak? I think I'd be way too scared to understand what Dusty was saying, though he's mellowed quite a bit as he's grown older. Which is not to say that there are not times when he will come flying into the room like a bat out of hell, jump up and bite something, usually my neck, then leave the room in the same fashion in which he came. Yep, it gives me shivers just imagining what is running through his mind.
GP, I think the gas station attendent ought to be fined. For impeding an officer, or something. Maybe just for being extremely stupid.
I think that is a pretty good indication of death, Eirene. If I'm without a cup of coffee in my hand in the morning, better start making funeral arrangements, cuz I've certainly died. Or without the coffee, feel pretty much dead anyway.
