cherries & banana=cherban How's it going, everyone! Last night was interesting. Well, part of it, anyway. For the first time in my life, I was a couple of feet away from a living legend, when the one and only Muhammad Ali came into our store. We made eye contact a few times... first he caught me looking at him from a distance and we smiled at each other, then a couple of times I glanced up and caught him looking at me with a smile on his face. The last time we made eye contact, he was about 5 feet away from me. That time I caught him looking at me, so I said "Hi" with a smile and respectful nod, afraid to either overdo or underdo the acknowledgement in front of his wife and my supervisor. When he left, the 17-year-old guy who waited on him looked up and asked, "Was that Muhammad Ali?" I just burst out in laughter and said, "Yep, that was him," and his next customer said, "I thought that looked like him but I wasn't sure until you asked." You know, I kinda thought he would be bigger. But despite the fact that he didn't say a word, he seemed very nice, and he looked well, despite his Parkinson's.

Neat, Gig. I bet it's kinda of strange meeting someone famous doing an everyday activitity, like shopping, and not knowing exactly what to do, or say....not wanting to make a big deal out of knowing it's them, but wanting to acknowledge in some way you recognize who they are. I've only met one famous person in such a way, actually on quite a regular basis, and that was before he was really famous - or maybe I should say infamous.
Hi Dixie, Scrappy, Xengab, Eroc, Eirene and everyone else. Hope everyone is enjoying the start of their weekend.

Exactly, Phalon. I didn't want to make a big hairy deal out of it, but I wanted to acknowledge that I knew who he was, and let him know that I admire and respect him. Do you think the "Hi" was enough? So, who is this infamous person who wasn't famous yet when you met him? If you had only said famous, I might've guessed Sinbad the comedian, but I don't think I'd call him infamous. You're welcome, Eirene. ;D I remembered you explaining it once but didn't remember what it was or know which page it was on, so I had to do a for your post. Did I understand correctly that you're going to be a Grandma in a few weeks?

Hi Gig. When I lived in Philadelphia, Charles Barkley, then playing for the 76ers, used to frequent the place I worked. He was hilarious...doing things like answering the phone and freaking out clients on the other end when he said who he was.
This was of course, when he was in the spotlight for his playing abilities, and not for fines caused by his temper and foul mouth.
I am a new mother today! And at my age! Ok, ok...so not exactly a new mother, but we do have a new baby...a bundle of fur. A baby bundle of fur. A five week old kitten has entered our family. He has seemed to adjust to the place quickly, but our other cat, Dusty Bunny Kitty, has not adjusted to him quite yet. But then again, Dusty was never one to be called well adjusted...a bit pyschotic.
Cigars and champagne all around.

OMG! That's too funny! Did the clients believe it was really him? Congrats on your new furry bundle of joy!

Yep, they knew it was him. He was quite the sports hero in Philly at that time, and there was no mistaking his voice.
Just a quick stop in this Sunday morning before I get ready for that rare Sunday that I have to work. Actually, working a few Sundays this month. The season is coming to a close and some have already had their schedules cut back. A bittersweet time of year for me....autumn is my favorite season of the year - I love everything about it - but sitting on pins and needles waiting for the day when the boss says, "See you next spring."
It's supposed to be a beautiful fall day today...sunny and in the sixties...a day that reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.
The mood in which you set out on a spring or autumn ramble... Is the mood in which your best thoughts and impulses come to you... Life is sweet in such moods, the universe is complete, and there is not Failure or imperfection anywhere." ~ John Burroughs (1837-1921)

Good day to you all. Not feeling much like a party, myself...been up half the night with Little Xena, who caught my cold, which has settled in her chest and is causing her to have problems with her asthma.
Home from work today with two sick kids, and I'll certainly partake of some of that coffee though. Hope the caffiene is enough to keep me going through the day.
Later all. Got to break up an argument - sick enough to have to stay home from school and you'd think they'd be too sick to pester each other.

You must be kidding. It's when they are sick that the real arguments get started! But then you must know that. Hope the little ones get better. And I hope you get some sleep soon.
Xengab....maybe we should wait on that party. In the meantime I'll put on a pot of my special get well tea for Phalon and the kiddies. Have a good day all.

Hey Phalon... try Airborne and see if it helps with your "cold" problems. I learned of it on Oprah the other day. I'm thinking on getting some and trying it out myself.

Morning all. Thanks for the advice and well wishes for my girls. Baby Phalon is doing fine. Home again with a sick Little Xena. We couldn't seem to get her breathing under control yesterday, despite giving her breathing treatments every three to four hours. Finally, this morning she seems to be much better, but the asthma medication makes her jittery and shaking. Poor kid is totally wiped out.
I am fine, despite my nerves being shot from being on edge all night. Need some coffee, (although not exactly what is needed when one is one edge, but hey, I can not function without it). Thanks Xengab, for making it extra strong.
Later all, and take care.

Good afternoon everyone! Hope your week is going nicely, so far.
Congratulations Phalon! Just think, if you keep expanding your family you will soon catch up with me. Then you, LucyStar and myself will all be "crazy cat ladies". Just don't ever run out of cat food and be stranded alone in your house for a few days. I'm afraid that would be an unpleasant way to make the headlines. You know those cats. Gotta have their food. Hope you and the young ones are feeling better soon.
Le, I think the only famous person I have seen around here is Ric Flair. Ever heard of him? I have seen him many times over the years. He and his wife were attending a play when I saw him and he has a son that plays H.S. football. I have seen him several times then. He very quitely sits off by himself.
This area is known to be the hub of NASCAR, wrestling and banking. Now, you may run into a driver or a wrestler, but I don't know of any famous bankers.
Since I have been told I have a fettish with my hair, I am going to avoid the food fights and sit in the corner, sip on a drink and observe others get goo in their hair. If anyone cares to join me in the "quite corner", I'll buy.
Have a great day! The sun in shining and temps are still in the low 80's.

Cyrene's is a good place to be if you want to miss the food fights. We would definately loose our heads if we even thought about throwing food in here. However if you ever decide you want to be a pirate then slap on a shower cap and head over to Z's Seven Seas Tavern & Inn. We are always looking for more victims.
For now I'd be happy to sit and have a drink with you both. There seems to be a runnaway Pirate having a bit too much fun with rubber bands.............this seems to be a safe place to hide. Remind me to put on my goggles before I go back there.........
