Ooooo, a food fight. Just what I need to get my aggression out. I had only a thread of a nerve left this afternoon, and Baby Phalon managed to tear it to shreds. So stubborn, (even more so then her sister and...uhm...me). She's like a pit bull - when she sinks her teeth into something, she just refuses to let go. Got in a snit over not being able to go down to the channel to feed the ducks. Geeze, a temper that can last for hours.
So let's see....what's left in the fridge and cupboards that is suitable for throwing? Hhmmm...apples? No, too hard. Marshmallows, (I promise not to make taffy)? No...not a satisfying enough projectile. I know, I know. Rediwhip - that fake whipped cream in a can stuff. Not exactly for throwing, but it does squirt pretty far. And in between shots, perhaps a shot of it for myself.

Xengab. But how do you battle the iron will of a three year old and come out with sanity intact? And then a day like today...sweet smiles and laughter all through dinner, and a look of total wonderment later as we watched the highschool band practice their drills on the football field. I suppose, like anything in life, you've got to take the good with the bad, letting all the icky stuff roll off your back. Perhaps this it just a phase she's going through, and before long will be on to the next, (hopefully a more calm and quiet one). I gave my class today to the seventh-graders, (talk about losing one's sanity!). One hundred and twenty of them, coming in groups of 25. Nearly an all day event and it was actually quite fun. Another class to a group of third and fourth graders coming up on Thursday, and then one more session for 5 to 10 year olds in mid-October and then I think I'm hanging up my teaching hat for the rest of the season. Fun, but draining. Ahh well...feel a bit of a cold coming on and I've got to run to the other Tavern before I'm too weak and feeble to sling some food. Night all. storage.proboards.com/893671/images/ljxEFlZASExudmonnAMT.gif[/mgi]

Good shot Phalon.........I was well surprised! My mom tells me on a yearly basis what a rotten contradictory child I was, but she also says that she wouldn't have changed a thing. Guess I turned out Ok. Keep the faith...that is faith in your ability to be a good mom.

Phalon...let me tell you battling with a three year old has to be better than the last 2 days I've spent battling with the British Court Service. I dutifully turned up to serve my jury service on Monday, only to be told that the person on trial wasn't at the court because someone had forgotten to tell the prison to bring him over...!!! ...so we were all sent home. So I turned up this morning, waited an hour, got into court only to be told that some witnesses hadn't turned up and the person on trial had changed his plea from not guilty to guilty so there was no trial to be had...once again we were sent home...you sensing a pattern?? Then to cap it all I've just had a phone call telling me I won't be needed for the rest of the week... now I've been signed off work for the week and so now have 4 more days off, which isn't bad but sure is boring! Sorry about the rant people but I'm starting to wonder why they bothered asking us to be a jury in the first place! How is everyone anyway? you all having nice weeks? Scrappy, your smiley is to die for...I love Taz, I have a stuffed Taz toy in a leather jacket, he's so cute! I want a smiley...but I don't know how to get one? Anyone help me? dixie

Hi everyone!
I better sneak in so as not to be noticed right away. Been a while since I have dropped in.
Phalon, I hope your youngest and your cold don't get the best of you.
Well, Jeanne came roaring through last night and she wasn't "whistlin dixie". What a night. Rain, flooding and wind so hard it rattled the windows all night. Schools were even delayed 2 hours. The road at the bottom of my drive was flooded and the highway road crew was there when I left, digging a new run off ditch. The official word is that our county had over 4" of rain in 12 hours and there were reportedly 12 tornadoes in nearby counties.
I'll let you all in on a secret. My middle name is Jeanne and all my life people have pronounced it Jeannie. I guess they'll get it right now. Although I don't like the association. What a deadly storm this has been. I hope this is the end of all storms.
This past weekend my family had a very nice occurance to celebrate. One of my sisters has been keeping foster children for the last 3 years, or so. About 3 weeks ago her adoption became final for 3 siblings she has had for 2 years. They had a very large "birthday" party for all of them and we had family and friends from all over in attendance. Although I have always considered them my niece and nephews, I can now make the announcement that I am the proud aunt of 2 nephews and one niece ( this is in addition to the other 10 nieces and nephews).
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Congratulations erco! Must be wonderful. I remember how I felt when my latest nephew was born. Not having children of my own I look at it as a prime opportunity to teach him all the things his parents will yell at me for later. Like how to swear convincingly and the precisely correct moment to wake them up with that really noisy toy I bought him for christmas. Only kidding. I wouldn't really do that......... Dixie- sorry to hear your week at the court went so bad. Makes you really want to do your civic duty the next time right. Good you got some more time off and I'm sure your shipmates can come up with something entertaining to keep you occupied. Walking the plank or dangling from the yard arm comes to mind. As for the smilie, Le gave it to me for reaching 500 posts.....so all I can say is keep posting and try to catch up! Plenty more food fighting to be done! Among other things.

Hey, Phalon. I knew you could do the speaking thing. I hope your cold doesn't turn into anything major, and that you get over it soon. Must be the change in seasons doing it to you. It was pretty cold this morning, a sure sign that winter is just around the corner. Geeze, Dixie. It sounds like your justice system is even more disorganized than ours, but how can that be? As for a smiley, you can find some at several free smiley sites like mysmilies.com , save it to your computer and upload it to our MSN group to use here, or you can just make 350 more posts and we can give you a :dixie:. Hi erco! What a crappy hurricane season this has been for everyone in the SE. I hope Jeanne is the last. That's great news with your sister and her newly adopted children! Now I'm sure everyone can be comfortable in knowing that they won't be thrown back into the system.

Congrats to you and your family, Auntie Erco! Hope you find the time to pop in more often. Miss your smiling face and blooming azaleas. Always brightens the day.
Dixe, LMAO. They forgot to tell the prison to bring the prisoner?! Too funny, but sorry for your misfortune. Enjoy your time off - I'm sure you can find something to do for entertainment. Or rest is good too.
Thanks all for the well wishes. Feeling better, unless I try to do something stupid...like breathe. Ahh well, tomorrow is my day off and maybe I'll get some rest. Enter three year old. Yeah, right.
Later all and take care.

Sorry to hear you are feeling bad Phalon. Find yourself a pepermint candle and burn it for at least an hour a day. It will help with the congestion.
And where is that Dixie anyway? She missed the whole food fight and everything. Anyone up for a little drink? Hot tody for Phalon. Extra tody. Or is it todie? Heck I couldn't spell my way out of a box. Anyway. Night all!

I'm here...just in a different time zone so always late for everything! I will be posting as much as possible now...must get to 500... ;D Congrats on the new additions to your family erco, its lovely to know that there are good homes for kids who are less fortunate than most. Phalon, you have no idea...I didn't know it was possible to be so incompetant as to not bring someone to their own trial Hope you're feeling better, Scrappy's peppermint candle is a good idea...you can also use a few drops of olbas oil in hot water and breathe in the steam, works like a charm. Did I hear xengab say cake? And I'll take my usual please Scrappy, its only 10am here but what the heck! dixie
