Hey Zena, I created a little blurb to go in my siggy with a link to this board, and several members commented they really liked it, so I added it to the header of this board. I'll take it out if you don't like it... just let me know.

I added an image to the top of the whoosher board... if anyone can find a fitting image for this board, post it here and I'll add it to the top.
BTW: Nice posts guys...

Hey Joxie - I like the blurb up at the top. The sentiment reminds me a lot of Zena's signature in her banner.
Finally, I got a post out. Can't believe the last time I posted here was back in April, which is probably the reason why it took me so long to write this one; I had a hard time getting a feel for Phalon again. Not real pleased with the post, but it's a start. Got about a million ideas now though, and am looking forward to writing again.
On the road again; just can't wait to be on the road again.
Is that how it goes? Close enough, I think.

I'm glad you liked the blurb... I thought your post was really good, but I understand how picky we can be about our own work... it never measures up to others... at least mine never seems to... to me anyways. On the one hand it's good that our inner critic is always on the job, but on the other hand it can be quite trying at times. In the books I've been reading, they say to keep the critic/editor quiet while creating, and only bring him out when the first draft is complete so that he can turn it into perfection. I did manage to lock that bugger up a couple of times when working on something, and the words just flowed onto the paper... then when I let him out he showed me all the garbage I let get by me. Well, at least he wasn't there to stop the flow like he usually does.

Thanks Joxie, for the tips. I'll keep them in mind. Only problem is my first draft is usually my only draft...with exceptions for typos, misspellings, or sometimes wording.
And my inner critic? You've seen what happens, not only in the stories here, but in a lot of the other threads I write in....if I subdue the critic and let the words flow, they usually overflow...into post, after post, after post. The critic tells me when to stop and be quiet for a change. LMAO.
The problem with this last post though, is that it has been way too long since I've written here. Writing - for me - becomes more difficult the less I do.
I plan on ammending that, though, by writing more often. I hope to do so anyway.

You're very welcome for the tips... I've got more at the writer's forum... There was just too much info for the one board here.

Is that your writer's website, Joxie, or the other forum here, (I never know what they're called now...forums or boards)?
I'm not a serious writer; I've never taken a course on writing or read any books on the subject matter. I do it just because I enjoy it; my only goal being to have fun doing it....and for it to make sense to someone other than myself....unless I am involving someone else's character, and then it is important to me that what I write does justice to that character.
Reading back the above to myself, and I think perhaps some tips on avoiding run-on sentences might be particularly helpful.

Yeppers, I was talking about my writer's forum... Here it is a forum with boards... at ezWhoosh it was a board with forums...
crap! thunder... gonna have to run soon. The lights have flickered a few times, but haven't stayed off yet.
And my writer's forum is for fun and for serious work. And it could use beta readers too. I'm terrible at critiquing... my own work and that of others.

...to see what's new and there was your post Phalon! I loved it! I think it had a wonderful flow of dialogue. You do that so much better than I do. Because Evergreen is in her head most of the time, I am making a concerted effort to have verbal exchanges with other characters. It's hard, though, when our merry band is some distance away. I don't want to lose track that this is an overall tale that at some points needs to converge again. Do you base your exchanges with Kaisa on your own mother? Your family? There is such a warmth between the two characters that really comes through the words... I love the Scrolls and hope the other Bards will rejoin soon with a contribution or two...or three...or four...or EG

Greetings Bards! You echo my thoughts Phalon, the less I write the less I can. Forgive my absence! This long hot summer has taken it's toll on me. When I sit at the computer I sweat into the keys and my brain is unable to be coherent. I promise to try again and write more than just emails to Evergreen although even those have been sparse and rather dull. Joxie, I love the little thingy with the words up there..nice work!!

Thank you... glad you approve. I was just thinking I should add one more word to it.
That's the problem with being a writer... I never seem to know when to leave something alone.

Thanks, Evergreen. Yes, Kaisa is patterned after my mom; my two brothers are rolled into one in the character Gelasius, whose name ends up with a different spelling every time I type it. Their conversations and interactions are similar to my own family. In fact, a small part of the last post is almost verbatim of a conversation I have with my oldest brother every time he comes to visit; it's always the same. "Don't forget your way back here." "Never." "Drive safely and be careful." "Always"
Zena!!! I understand you've been keeping yourself quite busy this summer. So glad you found a moment to check in. Hope you're able to write soon. I think Phalon will be catching up to your injured self at the hospice here shortly.

Geez, I leave for a couple of months and find a ton of reading that I need to do. Oh well, I enjoyed it. Excellent posts. I hope everyone's summer is going good. I spent a majority of my summer in Europe with my husband. First trip out of the country. It was really awesome. We visited England, France, Switzerland, Italy and Greece. I really don't have an idea for a post right now. I hope to have one soon. I believe my character was on her way to dreamland with Red. I'll need to check that out. Well, I'll catch y'all later. School starts for me tomorrow. Three more years and then I'm done. It's hard to believe. Scroll on!!

to say hey to all the Bards...wherever they too may be. Life has kept me busy. I will need to go back to see where I left off and if I have anything to add at this point. My muse has been sleeping. Perhaps its time to wake her back up. Hope all is well with the tribe. Evergreen

To my Zena Scrolls friends - wherever they may be, (echoing Evergreen's words). Hope this Thanksgiving finds you all in the best of times; safe, happy, and with much for to be thankful.
Stay safe and take care.

Hey Blackwolf... nice post.
NOTE TO OTHERS: Did anyone save Blackwolf's banner? If so, could you email it to her, Le, me, or upload it to the Whoosh group? Thanks.

Loved the post, Blackwolf. Glad to see one of us on the move again...(is there any of us left?)
Seems as if the dark wolf is going off on her own for a bit? Now who's going get all sarcastic with Phalon?
Gabbin and I were just discussing the other day about getting back in here, and start it up again. Soon; I need to rethink the post I've had in my head for about three months now.
Glad to see you; take care.

Thanks Phalon and Joxcie. I all of the sudden felt a huge "need" to post today, and so came up with that off the top of my head. I now have thousands of ideas of what my character can do trying to pop out of my head. Unfortunately, next week is finals for me, so any extra posting will have to wait until later.
Oh, and don't worry Phalon. Blackwolf isn't going too far hopefully. I do eventually want to meet up with the others at some point. We'll just have to see how it goes.
Scroll on.

Awesome, Phalon. I'm glad your muse decided to return. A very poignant post.
Well, finals are done for me, which means that I have more time to write now. I already have the next few posts lined up, but I just have to decide how they should be written. Hopefully I'll post something before Christmas rolls around.
Scroll on.

I think Sumire may show up next month. Blackwolf and I have been posting on her tag-board and here's her reply to Blackwolf's query of when she and Red were gonna pop in here to make a post:
KaMu/Trix: Um...I'm not gonna be able to properly resurface until January. Is that okay?

Bards:
I have been down for the count with flu gone to seed as pneumonia and when well enough this week, I popped in my two favorite ladies and watched more than a few Xena episodes. I rarely have time these days for such things and it was nice seeing "old friends" again. It never ceases to be fresh for me and I miss them.
And in thinking of old friends, I wondered if the Zena Scrolls had survived and indeed they have. Good to also see "old friends" there as well.
The Whoosh site is now very foreign to me with all the other topics and shows. Even though it is solid as a rock, I do miss the simplistic nature, and heated debates (does anyone really now care if they are or aren't they?), when the board and its focus was just "Xena Classic".
I hope all the Bards enjoyed the holidays and I send a belated wish for all the best for the coming year. Scroll on ladies...I will attempt to catch up where the story left off and enjoy your writing. EG
