I was googling for Laura Black... the one who was shot by her stalker, and had a movie made about it... and came across another person with the same name:

I may get through several of these sites but maybe not because of an eye condition of mine... so I'd like to ask, does anyone know of a site with many figure poses that one can use to draw from? It doesn't look as if the above sites qualify, just from the names. Unfortunately it needs to be free or very low-cost, because of my very low fixed income, which is where things fall apart, I guess. Why shouldn't anyone who poses, especially if it's nude poses, and not get paid for it, by the likes of me?
Over the next six months maybe I can make room in the budget for a grand total of $30 for an illustrator's pose book, but maybe not.

I've sent you a PM of google searches... due to the words such as "model" & "figure," some of the searches contained links to nudity.

Thanks J.... I'm starting out with nudity anyway. My sister was doing organs and muscles etc., but with my eye thing, I'm not going to go that far to prepare yet. I can't devote that huge an amount of time or I'll kill the eyes, as if I'm not already. I'm also trying to figure out facial expressions.

You're welcome... I PMed the links to you instead of posting them here because ProBoards is a PG-13 forum, and it's against their TOS to post links that lead to nudity.

Against the standards of the original Star Trek? Heaven forbid!
As for exhibiting artwork, Queenie, I consider any moral standards to be in flux, for better or for worse. I hope to exhibit stuff of mine at some point in the forseeable future.

Faces are difficult because they are so plastic, so expressive. But hands are the worst of it. Even guys like Chagall never got it.
When I was really, really poor (as opposed to now when I am just poor), I used a posable artist's wooden model. Cost is still under $5. US.

Great Greel,
You can also get wooden posable hands...
After WWII, my father graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Pity, but I totally missed the art talent gene. But I did retain lots of what he told me, some of it is funny, some serious. I thought you might enjoy some it.
My Father's Theories: Artists should not think. They should make art. When poor, check out the price of a roll of blank newsprint -- it works well. Do not use artist's fixative, hair spray is cheaper. Save everything. Old National Geographics are full of nudes you can use. Tempura or acrylics are almost as good as oil. Cigarette ash makes great shading when you use charcoal or pencil.
I know this one may be tough because of your eyes and/or mobility issues, but look at other artists nudes (maybe the net can help you here).
My father's best advice: don't be a whore, work from your heart.
Given my own lack of artistic ability, I keep hoping some one gets something from his distilled thinking.
Maeve
