Seems I missed a lot in the past couple of days. But reading the treads made me think of this song.
Forever Young - Rod Stewart
May the good lord be with you Down every road you roam And may sunshine and happiness Surround you when you're far from home And may you grow to be proud Dignified and true And do unto others As youd have done to you Be courageous and be brave And in my heart youll always stay Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young
May good fortune be with you May your guiding light be strong Build a stairway to heaven With a prince or a vagabond
And may you never love in vain And in my heart you will remain Forever young, forever young Forever young, forever young Forever young Forever young
And when you finally fly away I'll be hoping that I served you well For all the wisdom of a lifetime No one can ever tell
But whatever road you choose I'm right behind you, win or lose Forever young, forever young Forever young ,forever young Forever young, forever young For, forever young, forever young

Not too terribly bad to have stuck in your head. Thanks, Stepper; "Forever Young" is much better than what's been stuck there all night. Not necessarily a bad one either, except that it's been on replay for hours and I only know a few words of the lyrics.
"Hey Mambo! Mambo Italiano!"

The Dean Martin or Rosemary Clooney version? Hopefully the Deano. His was better.

Actually, it's neither, Stepper. The "Mambo Italiano" version stuck there is by Renato Carosone. It got amazing stickability helped along by the Visa commercial which features both the song and the world famous pizza tosser, Juan Hermosillo. Whether it's because of the song, or the cute pizza tosser, I love this commercial: www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-XyjkhTAsmc8/visa_pizza_commercial/

I love Rosemary Clooney, Stepper. Was lucky enough to see her in concert in Tulsa. She was fantastic! A friend bought the tix, and we were so excited. Then, the show was canceled, due to Rosemary's poor health. Then, they rescheduled. When my friend received her tix for the new date, they were for the FRONT ROW. So we got to hear that legendary lady from some of the best seats in the house. We were in heaven! One of my go-to albums is her cd, "For The Duration", featuring simply-arranged recordings of great WW II-era tunes, like "I'll Be Seeing You" and "For All We Know". I've listened to it for almost 20 years now. www.amazon.com/Duration-Rosemary-Clooney/dp/B0000006JBMy new favorite album is from a blues guitarist / singer / songwriter who fits none of the stereotypes: she's British, female, and white. I am not a blues fan. But Joanne Shaw Taylor has won me over: www.myspace.com/joanneshawtaylor

I'm jealous Siren. And you ended up with front row seats too! Did you try for an autograph?

Just dropping this off before I go to bed in hopes I won't be laying awake humming it all night - it's been stuck there all day.
I love, love, love this song; it's one of my favorites of the season. It would be a dream for me to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert - the strings, the screaming guitars, the lights, pyrotechnics, all of it I can imagine is phenomenal. Everyone I've know who has seen TSO has said they walked away breathless.
Here it is - The Carol of the Bells. (with a bit of Beethoven and Mozart in the beginning)

This song is stuck inside my head, cuz Ellie sent me this vid this morning. Why...? Dunno. It's an old vid by her. Maybe she just wanted to annoy me! The vid is good and makes me smile, though.

For some reason, this melody popped into my head, and has stuck with me for most of the week. I've nearly driven myself crazy, humming it all the time. I do think, though, that it's one of the most beautiful of all the Disney songs (even in Swedish!).

For me it's a crazy mix of 'Island of Misfit Toys', thanks to a cell phone commercial (though I'm not complaining about that, been trying to find an mp3 download for it) and Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face'. It's so terribly top 40/dance but I have no shame in admitting my love for it.
Damn you, Gams! I should know not to read this thread prior to posting something because now I have to concentrate REALLY hard on my songs and convince myself there's no room for 'Mambo' in the loop.

Pfft, Dear Lola...and damn you too! Poker Face? Do you know how hard I've had to work the past few months to keep this - one of LX's favorites that plays incessantly on her favorite HitList television station - out of my head. Luckily for me, between that and Pink's Funhouse (second only to Poker Face on HitList's repeat list), there is no room for Midnight at the Oasis anymore (and I refuse to click on Siren's link in the other thread.)

Lola!!! Seeing you is a true holiday treat!!
It's perfect that you popped in; you've been on my mind this week. We need to catch up, discussing OU hoops, among other things. Will give you a shout this weekend.
Til then..*a hug and a wet kiss on the head*
On my hitlist this week - Diana Krall's Christmas album. I took a copy to work, and most everyone's been bebopping along with it.

This came up because of Phalon and TG stringing Line and Dancing together in the word association thread. Personally, I prefer slow dancing, which led to remembering one of the songs I like...
Neil Youngs Harvest Moon
Come a little bit closer Hear what I have to say Just like children sleepin' We could dream this night away.
But there's a full moon risin' Let's go dancin' in the light We know where the music's playin' Let's go out and feel the night.
Because I'm still in love with you I want to see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon.
When we were strangers I watched you from afar When we were lovers I loved you with all my heart.
But now it's gettin' late And the moon is climbin' high I want to celebrate See it shinin' in your eye.
Because I'm still in love with you I want to see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon.

ARGH! I need help with this one. Playing off TG's "L.A. or Los Angeles" next word in Lyrically Speaking, a song immediately popped into my head....or rather, the line from a song:
"Flew to Los Angeles to visit your deadbeat brother..."
Maybe I got the mode of transportation wrong, and he drove to Los Angeles. Maybe it wasn't even mentioned how he got there, but he just "went" to Los Angeles. Maybe he's not actually a "deadbeat" brother, but he's definitely not the most of upstanding citizens.
Though I can specifically remember a particular moment I was listening to the song while driving, I only remember that one line....and that I liked the song, but Hubs hated it. Two-minute drilling produced nothing. I was thinking maybe Everlast or Everclear, but neither came up as having these lyrics. The song would have been released about 12-15 years ago, and (trying to think which radio stations I was listening to at the time) would have been played on either rock stations, or the old Z Rock format, which would have been leaning more toward the metal side of rock (though the song was definitely not of the Screamo genre).
Damn! This is one of those "it's really bugging me bad" things, that's going to stick with me until I figure out what song is actually stuck in my head.

HA! Nevermind. I remembered the brother is an @sshole.
"Should I fly to Los Angeles Find my @sshole brother"
The song is "Everything Zen" by Bush.
Ok, I can move on now.

Ellie was using The Ballad of Joxer the Mighty for her newest vid.... so now it's stuck in my head. Don't mind it too much, but if it stays stuck for much longer, I might start to mind it. Joxer the mighty Roams through the countryside He never needs a place to hide With Gabby as his sidekick Fighting with her little stick Righting wrongs and singing songs Being mighty all day long He's Joxer— Joxer the mighty! Joxer the mighty He's very tidy Everyone admires him He's so handsome it's a sin When things get grim He'll take it on the chin If you're in jeopardy Caused by the enemy Don't call the cavalry There's a better remedy (Although he doesn't work for free) He's every man's trusty, He's every woman's fantasy, Plus he's good company Look out! Golly gee! He's Joxer— Joxer the mighty Joxer— Joxer the miiiiiighty!

Ah, the Eighties! A fun decade in music. Interesting, in the least.
It seems like 80s music was all about appearances. The Hair Bands done up with enough Aqua-Net to supply every teenage girl in the country with Mall Hair for the span of their Jr. High and High School years. Then there were the Glam Bands who raided Tammy Faye Bakker's makeup case while she was out PTLing with Jim.
The pop scene seemed very slick and polished, the epitome (one that sticks out in my mind, anyway) being the Expressionless Glamor Clones....otherwise known as the Robert Palmer Girls.
It was all very fun stuff at the time; thanks for jogging the memories, Siren.
Then along came Grunge, which tried to wipe the entire decade off the music history map. Or at least cover it up with flannel.

Breathe Me, by Sia, is stuck in my head. Because there's a Coke/Olympics commercial that plays part of it. It annoys me that they don't play the whole thing, but whatever.

Her Expressionless Glamour Clones wore no less makeup than Robert Palmer's. But Shania's were MALE: I heard this the other night, and have had it on the brain ever since. Take some Kelly Clarkson, add a dash of Avril, mix in some hot guitar licks, and stir:

Heard this on the radio and now it's stuck: Jumping Jack Flash. With the brain audio is the movie clip from that Whoopie Goldberg movie in which she's trying to decipher the lyrics to that song ( to help find a gov covert guy) and that automatically flips me to the scene where her gown gets caught in the shredder. I'm way too stuck on the song repeating in my head to even try and remember which movie that was. The two are forever linked in my head though.

Somebody mentioned Rob Thomas today, and it reminded me of this tune, which he wrote with (or maybe for) Antigone Rising. Here's a video from better days for the band. They've since broken up. *sigh*
