Question about episode w/ kidnapped baby

Last week (Jan. 4) a repeat was aired which featured a storyline where a baby had been kidnapped and Allison kept hearing it cry. Something confused me in this episode the first time I watched it, and I still haven't figured it out.

When Allison went to the home to check out the baby's room and talk to his parents, she met up with his sister- the ghost of a little girl who had died a year earlier. When she asked what the girl died of, they told her they didn't know and they acted strange.

This was never resolved in the story line, because the baby's kidnapping had to do with the maid taking him away to protect him from her cousin who wanted to hold him for ransom.

Any ideas, anyone? Did I miss something?

The little girl had had an illness. They kind of alluded that the mother might be the cause, but it was just a red herring. The little girl was warning about the kidnapping, and not that her mother was a killer. I didn't like how they left it either. They've done that in other eps too, and I've learned to just ignore it.
