So this is it; Twilight opens here today, (which, given our small movie theather, is probably weeks after it was released to the rest of the world).
There are big plans this weekend to go see the movie - plans made by LX and her friends. I had no idea the books were so big among the middle-school age crowd. I didn't even know LX read the first in the series in school, and has been waiting for months to read the second; the books are always checked-out at the school's library, and she hasn't been able to get her hands on book two yet.
Sounds like a good Christmas gift for her, and one that I can use enjoy too.....unlike any of the music on her wish list.

"Twilight"'s opening is a HUGE event. We went to the movies last night, and outside our auditorium, at a big multi-screen theater, about a dozen young people were sitting on the floor waiting, IM'ing, chatting, eating, reading. When we emerged from our screening, almost 3 hours later, there were hundreds of young people anxiously waiting - for a special early showing of "Twilight". My friend and I were among the first few from our movie to exit. And as we did, the young people, waiting behind barricades, cheered and screamed like we were movie stars, they were so excited that our showing was over and theirs was about to begin. For a moment, as they cheered us, I had quite a rush, feeling like a big celebrity at a red carpet event.
Then, I felt really, really old.
Lol!
I wish you could've seen the kids waiting at the theater - over a thousand of them, milling about, waiting for early "Twilight" screenings. With their interesting clothes and hair and attitudes, it was a prime people-watching experience. There was amazing energy in the air, they were all so excited. I was glad I was there.
