I'll start this one off with 'Herbie' that's gotta rate as neither the best or the worst! middle of the road is my guess! Anyone else got their favourites?

I totally agree you with you Phalon, a terrible movie, gotta rate as one of the worst. Some nice ones there Siren, but how abut The Cannon Ball Run? And the bet of all has got to be the Italian Job (I do like Michael Caine movies) lol

No classic but certainly one for the "petrol heads" and far better then a lot of the more recent and rather mindless action flicks was "Gone in Sixty Seconds" with Nic Cage, lot of burning rubber in that.

Ooooo....Nick Cage. Just something about his deadpan sarcastic delivery of lines.....<swoon>
And thanks, Vox - because of this thread, I've had the song "Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang" stuck in my head since this morning. Don't remember a whole lot about that car movie, except for that irritating won't-go-away song.

Oh sorry Phalon, just thought it might be a good thread, but I've a strange feeling that we are gonna run out of car films soon! But how about car chase films? i.e. Bullit and The French Connection!

No sorries, Vox. It's Katina who shall have to pay now. Grrr, Dear Man. That's it, I will no longer whisper sweet Vegemite Sangers into your ears.
Grease. I can't help but watch whenever it comes on television.

I do apologise Lady P, I tried to resist the urge [ honestly ] but just couldn't help myself I'm afraid, reckon I'm just plain evil. ;D A very good chase scene recently was in "The Bourne Supremacy" [ Matt Damon ] and of course I guess we have to mention Spielberg's classic "Duel." "because i really want to be able to zoom around in a fancy sports car with logo's all over it!" Sounds good to me syndrome, and welcome to Whoosh by the way.

Yep, evil you are. Anyone who'd sing that song to another oughta be tarred and feathered. It's enough to drive someone over the edge, and off a cliff.
Speaking of which....

Good one, Gams!
If we're talking "road" movies, one of the best is "It Happened One Night", with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. They travel by bus, then hitch-hike, then "borrow" an ancient convertible.

And then of course there's 'Genevieve' with John Gregson and Dinah Sheridan!

How about "Christine", about a malevolent bucket o' bolts? Or for pure turn-off-your-brain-and-enjoy action, "The Fast And The Furious"?

I was looking through this forum trying to find a long-forgotten thread, and came across this long-forgotten thread instead. Browsed through it, and can't believe this film wasn't mentioned:
"Death Proof", Quentin Tarantino's homage to grindhouse films. I don't quite know if it should be classified as a "best car movie" or a "worst car movie" - after-all, if you set out to pay homage to poor quality B-movies and achieve that goal, which would it be? Probably the best worst car movie.
It's a lot of fun though - in an I-can't-believe-I'm-watching....and-enjoying-this kind of way.
There's also a Xena connection: Zoe Bell, one of Lucy's stunt doubles, is one of the main characters in "Death Proof"; she plays herself.

If you didn't find it, it is most likely in the "Off Topics" Archive. Sometimes, if you click on Search at the top of the board, you can do a search for words/titles and what you're looking for can show up there.
If you find it in the archives and want me to move it back, just let me know. I move a lot of threads to archives because the links no longer work, and because a lot of the posters are long gone.

I'm not sure that we had it to begin with. I came across a list of the top sob-into-a-box-of-Klennex-cry-your-eyes-out movies, and thought I might post it...and thought we might have had a tear-jerker thread to post it in.

Okay. I obviously use the "Recent Threads" link at the top of the forum and didn't realize what board this thread is in. Silly me.
