I'm pretty much new to the world of Xena Warrior Princess.
I got the first season on video about 2 years ago. I brought it on a whim. I started watching a few episodes back then but got distacted by other commitments such as work and University. But I've started watching them again to keep the dark winter nights light and fun. I'm halfway through "Ties That Bind".
I've also seen a fews episodes from season 4 on Bravo.
I've spoiled myself by reading all the spoilers I can on Wikipedia, but I don't really mind about that.
I'm liking what I've seen so far. At the moment I'm addicted to plot heavey shows like Lost, Heroes and Battlestar Galactica so it's nice to just watch a show where I can be more relaxed and just enjoy the ride.
Oh and hi everyone!
If I had the money I'd buy the complete DVD boxset.

Welcome to Whoosh, it's gotten very quiet here recently but should pick up again after the holidays.
If you keep looking, you might be able to pick up a second-hand boxset of dvd or vhs, from someone who upgraded or duplicated. Try amazon.com or ebay or half.com. Or just collect them one at a time. There also is the Xena greatest hits tenth anniversary or something boxset, I haven't seen it
And you can always try the Xena games, on Nintendo, or the card or boxed games, they are cheaper and a lot of fun.
Lastly, look around and see if a Xena/Herc group meets somewhere near you. Or start one!

Welcome to the World of Xena, and Whoosh too, sockbunny, (cute name - I must introduce you to my dust bunnies; they always welcome newcomers into the ever-increasing colony).
I like that. I've never been a must analyze, theorize, summarize, or accessorize Xena fan. It was just damned fun to watch.
And while it's quiet around here, why don't you and lambsmarch head over to Off-topic to ramble about whatever off-topic topic you wish to ramble about. Just watch out for flying snowballs, and don't eat the petrified fruitcakes - always a good traveling practice.

Did you say DON'T eat the petrified fruitcakes?
Owww...it tastes like burning.
I think I might start buying myself a Xena boxset once every 2 months. It might become my New Year's Resolution. That way I'll have the whole series by this time next year.
I believe the DVD boxsets used to be in half seasons. But I've seen them released by playback now in full season boxsets. And they were quite reasonably priced when I checked.

Years ago, my friend and I were really por and we couldn't really afford Xena vhs (that's all there was then). So we bought alternating seasons of the sets...she bought one, me two and three, and she four and then we copied them INCLUDING the slipcovers. I still have those copies and so does she, although we have long moved on to DVD and Hercules too! They are memories of poorer and simpler times when it was cheaper and easier to be happy hmph.
Some communities have the best people. For some reason, once upon a time, Stargate SG-1 was coming out, on Australian air, a season BEHIND the USA and I have many happy memories of recording Stargate and getting it out in international mail to Australians. Untill they had seen it, we had to be careful what we said in the forums, or they had to avoid the forums altogether to prevent accidental sneak peeks of the conclusions. They would excitedly wait to get their episode in the mail, and we would excitedly wait for them to watch it and come onto the forums and get their imput.
Ah the days of youth and poverty....
