I recently watched an episode of a program on the Food Network, called "Will Work For Food". The host of the show travels the country doing some of the food industry's most strangest jobs. In the episode I watched, he helped one of the designers of New York's annual chocolate fashion show - which in 2008, featured chocolate-clad super-heros. Although the segment featured a Barbarella costume, I was sure I saw a chocolate armored Xena in the background. A two-minute Internet drill proved my eyes weren't mistaken. Designer and chocolatier, Joelle Mahoney, recreated Xena's leather warrior princess garb - not just chocolate-colored this time around, but done in real chocolate. "Chocolate leather is a combination of chocolate and corn syrup," said Mahoney backstage, "And then when we finished making it, we then cut it out just like a dress because its like leather. You can touch it, feel it, it is all like leather and it tastes like tootsie roll if you were to eat it." I wonder how Xena would feel being compared to a tootsie roll? It doesn't seem like the designer was going for authenticity here: it looks like the main goal was to make the costume as dessert-like as possible. The breast-plates look like gold jello molds, and the round thingies in her hair look like those gold foil-covered pirate coin Halloween candy. And the crown looks....crown? Did Xena ever wear a crown? Xena: Chocolate Warrior must have won the show. Here's a link to a photo: www.flickr.com/photos/ohwaitnvm/3011428693/

I suspect a true Xena fight would make the flavor unpalatable.

I doubt it would last in a fight. It would crack up.

Looking at the large images, it's hard to believe it's made of chocolate.
