You're trying to stump us all aren't you Ms. Punk....ppppbblllttt. You're forcing me to pull out some Elvis....ACK!!! I'm thinking you may owe me for this one....lol
Big Hunk O' Love - Elvis
Hey baby, I ain't askin' much of you No no no no no no no no baby, I ain't askin' much of you Just a big-a big-a hunk o' love will do
Don't be a stingy little mama You're 'bout to starve me half to death Well you can spare a kiss or two and Still have plenty left, no no no Baby, I ain't askin' much of you Just a big-a big-a hunk o' love will do
You're just a natural born beehive Filled with honey to the top Well I ain't greedy baby All I want is all you got, no no no Baby, I ain't askin' much of you Just a big-a big-a hunk o' love will do
I got wishbone in my pocket I got a rabbit's foot 'round my wrist You know I’d have all the things these lucky charms could bring If you'd give me just one sweet kiss, no no no no no no no Baby, I ain't askin' much of you Just a big-a big-a hunk o' love will do
Hey baby, I ain't askin' much of you No no no no no no no no baby, I ain't askin' much of you Just a big-a big-a hunk o' love will do
wishbone
Come on....with lyrics like that how can you not like Elvis...(eye Roll)

Hey Scrapgold, you could have done Terri Clark's Honky Tonk, or the classic, New River Train, or the Nits' Abandoned Mine for beehive. <giggling and ducking>
Wishbone Architecture In Helsinki
Choking on a wishbone, In the firing line of lovers, Who will never slow down.
And I won't let you steer, Comand the atmosphere, Since you suggested running away, It's romantic.
Hit the redial, Maybe we should sit a while, Save our second wind for sentimental warm weather.
Four forever, Two together, We'll play dead, We'll play dead, We'll play deadly....

That would have been way too easy Maeve and I'd have missed an opportunity to tease Ms. Punk.
Last Chance Lost - Joni Mitchell Last chance lost-- In the tyranny of a long good-bye Last chance lost-- We talk of us with deadly earnest eyes Last chance lost-- We talk of love in terms of sacrifice and compromise Last chance-- Last chance lost
Last chance lost-- The hero cannot make the change Last chance lost-- The shrew will not be tamed Last chance lost-- They bicker on the rifle range Blame takes aim Last chance-- Last chance lost tyranny
I saw part of a documentary with Joni Mitchell yesterday....she said she's tired of the MTV style artists, all look and no substance. I was thinking how true. Did anyone know that Paris Hilton has a new CD.....gimmie a break.

Siren, my musical muse, thank you for your kind words. I need your expertise. Everytime I burn a CD (or do a mp3), the first few cuts work well together. Then everything just falls apart and it gets incoherent. How do you put together a playlist?
And SG, shouldn't that be Ms. JoLo LoNi Punkchel, presiding music guru?
Anyway. A real oldie. A fine Republican Song (NB *not* USA definition of Republican)
A Rebel Song From Songs of Freedom, Connolly (1907)
Come workers, sing a rebel song, a song of love and hate, Of love unto the lowly, and of hatred to the great The great who trod our fathers down, who steal our children's bread, Whose hand of greed is stretched to rob the living and the dead
Chorus
Then sing our rebel song, as we proudly sweep along To end the age-long tyranny that makes for human tears Our march is nearer done with each setting of the sun, And the tyrant's might is passing with the passing of the years.
We sing no song of wailing, and no song of sights or tears, High are our hopes and stout our hearts, and banished all our fears Our flag is raised above us so that all the world may see 'Tis Labour's faith and Labours arm alone can labour free.
Out from the depths of misery we march with hearts aflame, With wrath against the rulers false who wreck our manhood's name The serf who licks his tyrant's rod may bend forgiving knee. The slave who breaks his slave’s chain a wrathful man must be.
Our army Marches onward with its face towards the dawn, In trust secure in that one thing the slave may lean upon, The might within the arm of him who, knowing Freedom's worth, Strikes home to banish tyranny from off the face of earth BANISH

Straight Out of Line ~ Godsmack
There's no reason There's no compromise Changing seasons Living the high life I don't know you So don't freak on me I can't control you You're not my destiny
Straight out of line I can't find a reason Why I should justify my ways Straight out of line I don't need a reason You don't need to lie to me
I'll confess this You're my tragedy I paid you to rest just As fast as you turned on me Gone forever Banish the memories Displays of pleasure Are masked by your misery
Straight out of line I can't find a reason Why I should justify my ways Straight out of line I don't need a reason You don't need to lie to me Lie to me

Maeve - I don't have much of a formula about putting cds together. Some have a theme, like good summer songs or dance music or great vocalists. But I'm too impatient to spend much time on it. Sorry I'm not much help with this. And thank you for the compliment. I'm glad some of my suggestions have panned out for you. They don't always. For instance, I don't think I ever made Gams a Diana Krall fan. But it's a testament to Gams' open mind that our resident metal fan gave Diana a chance. I'm glad you're liking "the cat in the hat". Terri Clark's been a favorite of mine for years, and is a fun live entertainer, too. Speaking of good shows, I saw Sugarland again recently, and am an even bigger fan than before. If they're putting on a show that intense and high-energy on every date, I don't know how they do it. Here's a link to hear/see them "unplugged". They're clearly a band that feeds off their audience. So, they're a bit subdued in this in-studio performance. But I think you'll be impressed. Jennifer is one powerful, passionate vocalist. www.kxy.com/cc-common/stripped/sugarland/ Back to the game: In a pawn shop in Chicago On a sunny summer's day A COUPLE gazes at the wedding rings there on DISPLAY from "Golden Ring" by George Jones and Tammy Wynette next: couple

A favorite "oldie" from Megadeth.
Sweating Bullets
Hello me... Meet the real me And my misfits way of life A dark black past is my Most valued possession Hindsight is always 20-20, But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy Speak of mutually assured destruction? Nice story... Tell it to Reader's Digest!
Feeling paranoid True enemy or false friend? Anxiety's attacking me, and My air is getting thin I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet I'm chomping at the bit, and my Palms are getting wet, sweating bullets.
Hello me... It's me again You can subdue, but never tame me It gives me a migraine headache Thinking down to your level Yea, just keep on thinking it's my fault And stay an inch or two outta kicking distance Mankind has got to know His limitations
Feeling claustrophobic Like the walls are closing in Blood stains on my hands and I don't know where I've been I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet I'm sharpening the axe and my Palms are getting wet, sweating bullets
Well, me... it's nice talking to myself A credit to dementia Some day you too will know my pain And smile its blacktooth grin If the war inside my head Won't take a day off I'll be dead My icy fingers claw your back Here I come again
Feeling paranoid True enemy or false friend? Anxiety's attacking me And my air is getting thin Feeling claustrophobic Like the walls are closing in Blood stains on my hands and I don't know where I've been Once you committed me Now you've acquitted me Claiming validity For your stupidity I'm chomping at the bit I'm sharpening the axe Here I come again, whoa! Sweating bullets
Dang, so many good words in this one, I can't choose. I'll just stick with a word from the same line "axe" appears in: sharpening is the next word.

Woo-Hoo chance to quote one of the best...Come on lets sing-a-long!
Artist: Aretha Franklin Song: Freeway Of Love
Knew you'd be a vision in white How'd you get those pants so tight? Don't know what you're doin' But you must be livin' right
We got some places to see I brought all the maps with me So jump right in...Ain't no sin Take a ride in my machine
City traffic movin' way too slow Drop the pedal and go...go...go
Goin' ridin' on the freeway of love Wind's against our back Goin' ridin' on the freeway of love In my pink cadillac Goin' ridin' on the freeway of love Wind's against our back Ain't we ridin' on the freeway of love In my pink Cadillac?
Never you mind the exit signs We got lots of time We can't quit 'til we get To the other side
With the radio playin' our song We keep rollin' on Who knows how far a car can get Before you think about slowin' on down
City traffic movin' way too slow Drop the pedal and go...go...go Next word: Cadillac

LA Freeway Guy Clark
Pack up all your dishes. Make note of all good wishes. Say goodbye to the landlord for me. That son of a shrew has always bored me. Throw out them LA papers And that moldy box of vanilla wafers. Adios to all this concrete. Gonna get me some dirt road back street
Chorus If I can just get off of this LA freeway Without getting killed or caught I'd be down that road in a cloud of smoke For some land that I ain't bought
Freeway of Love ReRe
Knew you'd be a vision in white How'd you get those pants so tight? Don't know what you're doin' But you must be livin' right

Oh great segway for a Johnny cash number... JOHNNY CASH MAN IN BLACK
Well, you wonder why I always dress in black, Why you never see bright colors on my back, And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone. Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town, I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, But is there because he's a victim of the times.
I wear the black for those who never read, Or listened to the words that Jesus said, About the road to happiness through love and charity, Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.
Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose, In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes, But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back, Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.
I wear it for the sick and lonely old, For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold, I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been, Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.
And, I wear it for the thousands who have died, Believen' that the Lord was on their side, I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died, Believen' that we all were on their side.
Well, there's things that never will be right I know, And things need changin' everywhere you go, But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right, You'll never see me wear a suit of white.
Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day, And tell the world that everything's OK, But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, 'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black. New word Rainbow

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Judy, Judy, Judy
Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high, There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far Behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow. Why then, oh why can't I?

Oh yes, don't give in and change this; I'm going to get it. 'Perpetual' is a perpetual thought now and there's a song just below the surface, I just know it. Wow!! <happy dance> I got a note from Dr. Punkchell!!! There is a secret way to tell me apart from other Maeves. At least, maeve it will work; maeve not. Just look at any given Maeve's left hand. It the hand is deviated to the inside by about 40%, that's me -- as my hand doc says, there is no law saying hands must be in line with the arm. Now if you do find a Maeve fitting that description, run, it's me. If you find two Maeves, see who can sing the "Latin School Song." If one can, it's me and you can be a hero and grab the other Maeve and run... All together now: [auto-edit, it's schoolboy Latin: no bad words] Gaudeamus igitur Juvenes dum sumus Post jucundum juventutem Post molestam senectutem Nos habebit. etc. Perpetually, Maeve

Good on ya, yinyang, with that Faith Hill song and 'perpetual'.
Siren, I FINALLY heard the new Sugarland song. I really need to listen to the radio more often. Your enthusiasm towards the band is so welcomed; you know how much I was worried about the departure of Kristin Hall affecting them. Live, I have to say those two, Jennifer and Christian, are pretty energetic so I'm not surprised that hasn't changed. Oh, and have I already said how I think Jennifer and Jon Bon Jovi should get married and live happily ever after and keep singing songs together? Apologies to the current Mrs. Bon Jovi if she's reading this. Their duet is without a doubt one of my very favorites and their video... they look good together too. I never wanted Paul McCartney and Micheal Jackson to get married so it's not just the duet thing... I don't know, I LOVE that song though. I'm gushing, I'll stop.
Maeve... ha, I feel like I'm sticking post-its on everyone... my Maeve only had a 32% turn of the wrist, that's what I eyeballed it at anyway, so now I know it wasn't you. Thanks for clarifying.

Lolo, the only way that Sugarland show would've been better the other night, would be if you had been with me. (And wouldn't THAT have been a blast??) They were absolutely great - so fun, so charismatic, enthusiastic, and so very talented. Jennifer is one of the best in the biz, bar none.
I agree that she and John would make beautiful babies. And the way he was looking at her during their "Crossroads" show, he was ready to start to work on that right away. If I'd been his wife, I'd have killed him! They are great together, though. Their voices blend beautifully.
I must say, I wasn't as immediately blown away by "Want To" as I have been some of their other songs. But it's good, just the same. And maybe nothing could've lived up to my anticipation, anyway. But I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
BTW, atta girl, quoting some good ole Terri Clark.
And I'm with you, Hippy - this is a great thread!

Sorry, if I don't mention the first two, it will be earworm hell. Women Walk More Determined Kristen Lems
Y'know, women walk more determined than they ever have Women walk with a stronger stride than they ever did before Take a look sisters and brothers, cause you're gonna find you got another kind of woman Who will ask a lot and give a lot and live a whole lot more My friend, you and I have come a long way And we're gonna go farther still

Your eyes pull me in I'm drawn to your face This picture is set in a beautiful place near church bells surrounded by cobblestone streets We're forcing a smile in the summer...
Do we take a quick picture then be on our way Or unpack our longings determined to stay Do we fight back our fears with a tear or a laugh what will become of this glossy photograph
I Dare You Leann Rimes
God only knows how I've needed a friend Who can see the boldness and pride Someone strong enough I can put my faith in Someone willing to let me inside So be a man and be my man
