Bright Eyes, Maeve? Really? Impressive...
Ok, I gotta do it - Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul, and Mary
Puff, the magic dragon Lived by the sea And frolicked in the AUTUMN MIST In a land called Honah Lee
Little Jackie Paper Loved that rascal Puff And brought him Strings and sealing wax And other fancy stuff, oh
Puff the magic dragon etc etc etc
Together, they would travel On a boat with billowed sail Jackie kept a lookout Perched on Puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes Would bow whene'er they came Pirate ships would lower their flag When Puff roared out his name, oh
Puff the magic etc
A dragon lives forever But not so little boys Painted wings and giant's rings Make way for other toys
One grey night it happened Jackie Paper came no more And Puff, that mighty dragon He ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow Green scales fell like rain Puff no longer went to Play along the cherry lane
Without his life-long friend Puff could not be brave So Puff that mighty dragon Sadly slipped into his cave, oh
Puff etc etc etc
What is this song really about again? new word - mist

Bright Eyes, Maeve? Really? Impressive... LMAO, Dr. Da Li Lo La AndPunkson. I ain't that hip. I only knew about Oberst/Bright Eyes because a kid named Maria Taylor hangs with him. I know Taylor cause she and another woman started a band in Athens GA. And she could be a good piano player if she lost the need to be so pop and "deep." I'll see your PP&M and raise you a Joan Baez. Hitchhiker's Song Joan Baez When the mist rolls in on Highway One like a curtain to the day A thousand silhouettes hold out their thumbs and I see them and I say You are my children my sweet children I am your poet. With hair just like the burning tree of Moses the girl beside you is your twin Behind your fiery make-up you should know this I am your sister, I am your kin, your flesh and kin I'll write this tune in matching phrases just to show it You are the orphans in an age of no tomorrows and with your walking you wage a war against the sorrows Your fathers left you a row to hoe and you'll hoe it. If I could write you easy directions on a list you would not read it, you could not see it for the mist Besides my pen is very righteous and I know it. So walk to the edges of a dying kingdom There's one more summer just around the bend The amber in your smile is brave and winsome for though your highway has no end, it never ends There is still the sky the windy cliff and the sea below it I'd take an angel's ram horn trumpet and I'd blow it I'd blow it. next word: BEND Maeve, the lunatic ravin' yet again

Tears In Heaven ~ Eric Clapton
would you know my name if i saw you in heaven? would you feel the same if i saw you in heaven? i must be strong and carry on 'cause i know i don't belong here in heaven...
would you hold my hand if i saw you in heaven? would you help me stand if i saw you in heaven? i'll find my way through night and day 'cause i know i just can't stay here in heaven...
time can bring you down, time can bend your knees time can break your heart, have you begging please...
beyond the door there's peace i'm sure and i know there'll be no more tears in heaven...

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Arlen and Harburg
Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high, There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far Behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow. Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? next word: BEHIND Maeve

The Gospel According To Darkness - Jane Siberry (now known as Sheeba) (?)
I know there's a place that you call your own and you're safe and warm and you feel like you're home and the peace of it and the faith involved and you go to say...but there's no need to explain it still you try and then you see that it's okay you're on your own
I see you lookin' around at the people on the street well, things aren't what they seem if you push them hard enough you'll find that most of them do not feel worthy of love now how did this come to be?
oh, my sweet sweet darlin' yes? look at me you're telling me you can't pierce the darkness into the light? yes can you see me? no, I cant... can you see the figure standing on your right? nobody. it's just darkness... it's just darkness... come on, I know you understand. I'm trying...
love, will you let us know when it's time when we can leave this DARKNESS BEHIND?
oh, my sweet sweet darlin'... wait... what? you know when you open up your eyes? oh, I'm afraid there wont be anyone there I'm beaming you all this light wait. something's happening... who is it? I'm holding my sweet mama in my arms is she dying? no, I think she's just been born and she looks so... sweet... and she looks so... hopeful and she looks so... trusting she doesn't know how hard...
I know there's a place that you call your own and you're safe and warm and you feel like you're home
I see you lookin' around at the people on the street well, things aren't what they seem if you push them hard enough you'll find that most of them do not feel worthy of love now how did this come to be?
I know there's a place that you call your own

I Will Remember You ~ Sarah Mclachlan
I'm so afraid to love you But more afraid to lose Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose Once there was a darkness Deep and endless night You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light

Walking to New Orleans Fats Domino
This time, I'm WALKING to New Orleans. I'm walking to New Orleans. I'm gonna need two pair of SHOES, When I get through walking these blues, When I get back to New Orleans. I've got my suitcase in my hand. Now, ain't that a shame? I'm leaving here today, Yes, I'm going back home to stay. Yes, I'm walking to New Orleans. You used to be my honey Til you spent all my money. No use for you to cry, I'll see you by and by. Cause I'm walking to New Orleans. I've got no time for talking. I've got to keep on walking. New Orleans is my home. That's the reason why I'm goin.' Yes, I'm walking to New Orleans. I'm walking to New Orleans.

Welcome to the party Sister Trout! Nice song that. And my reply for shoes has got to be Elvis.
Blue Suede Shoes
Well it's a one for the money, Two for the show, Three to get ready now go cat go and don't cha, Step on my blue suede shoes. You can do anything but stay off of my blue suede shoes.
Well you can knock me down, Step on my face, Slander my name all over the place. Do anything that you wanna do, But ah ha honey lay off of them shoes and don't cha, Step on my blue suede shoes You can do anything but stay off of my blue suede shoes.
Well you can rob my house, Steal my car, Drink my liquor from an old fruit jar, Do anything that you wanna do, But ah ha honey lay off of them shoes and don't cha, Step on my blue suede shoes You can do anything but stay off of my blue suede shoes.
Well it's a...blue blue, blue suede shoes baby, Blue blue, blue suede shoes honey, Blue blue, blue suede shoes darlin' Blue blue, blue suede shoes, Well you can do anything but stay off of my blue suede shoes.

Although I think the original Marilyn Monroe version is better, this one has a special place in my heart. I was on the route the funeral cortege took in London on the day of her funeral. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, this catylist for such a mass outpouring of grief. The shared experience of 25000 people in Hyde Park afterward as well. It's something I will never forget.
Candle In The Wind (Princess Diana Tribute)
Goodbye England's rose May you ever grow in our hearts You were the grace that placed itself Where lives were torn apart You called out to our country And you whispered to those in pain Now you belong to heaven And the stars spell out your name
And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never fading with the sunset When the rain set in And your footsteps will always fall Along England's greenest hills Your candle's burned out long before Your legend never will
Loveliness we've lost These empty days without your smile This torch we'll always carry For our nation's golden child And even though we try The truth brings us to tears All our words cannot express The joy you brought us through the years
And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never fading with the sunset When the rain set in And your footsteps will always fall you Along England's greenest hills Your candle's burned out long before Your legend never will
Goodbye England's rose May you ever grow in our hearts You were the grace that placed itself Where lives were torn apart Goodbye England's rose From a country lost without your soul Who'll miss the wings of your compassion More than you'll ever know
And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never fading with the sunset When the rain set in And you footsteps will always fall you Along England's greenest hills Your candle's burned out long before Your legend never will

Just Stop ~ Disturbed
Just stop enough of the limitless critical comments on my life Just stop the judgment and all of your pseudo-involvement in my life Step back a moment, and look at the miracle starting in our life Don't stop the moment, and let the incredible happen knowing that
All that you want is to criticize Something for nothing And all that I want is forgiveness one more time To be the best in the world
Just stop with all of your little deliberate problems with my life Enough of all the crippling, terrible pain we feel inside Step back a moment, remember how the miracle started in our life Take back the torment; I won't be enjoying this moment knowing that
All that you want is to criticize Something for nothing And all that I want is forgiveness one more time I know that All that we want is to feel inside Some kind of comfort And all that we've done We can hide We'll be the best in the world
All I ever wanted was to be a real source of compassion From the moment that we found ourselves drowning All I ever wanted was to be a real source of compassion From the moment that we found ourselves drowning
All that you want is to criticize Something for nothing And all that I want is forgiveness one more time I know that All that we want is to feel inside Some kind of comfort And all that we've done We can hide We'll be the best in the world We'll be the best in the world Just stop enough of the limitless critical comments on my life Just stop the judgment and all of your pseudo-involvement in my life

The one I love is knocking at my door, With the kind of look I never saw before. He said: "Hey, baby, you and me." Nothing like knowing when it's time to leave.
Took a listen to his advice, Thought about it once but I didn't think twice. I packed my life in a paper sack, Don't miss nothing that I never had.
This old car's our limousine, Riding on hope, living on dreams.
Don't wanna know nothing about reading the map. We're making it up as we go. Final destination, "Don't look back", 'Cause when you're SHOOTING the dice, you just TUMBLE and roll.

Ooh,Ooh. This was the first song Jane and I danced to.
KLF also known as JAM (Justified Ancients of MuMu)
Couldn't find the rest of the lyrics but these are the best anyway.

One ~ Creed
Affirmative may be justified, take from one give to another The goal is to be unified; take my hand, be my brother The payment silenced the masses sanctified by oppression Unity took a back seat, sliding further in regression
One, oh One, the only way is One
I feel angry; I feel helpless, want to change the world I feel violent; I feel alone, don't try and change my mind Society blind by color, why hold down one to raise another Discrimination now on both sides; seeds of hate blossom further
The world is heading for mutiny, when all we want is unity We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together

On a Foggy Night - Tom Waits
on a foggy night, an abandoned road in a twilight mirror mirage with no indication of a service station or an all night garage, I was misinformed I was misdirected cause the interchange never intersected leaving me MAROONED beneath a bloodshot moon all upon a foggy night, on a foggy night an abandoned road, in a blurred brocade collage, is that a road motel? I can't really tell, is that what you might call some kind of a vacancy lodge cause there's no consolation, what kind of situation to be aimlessly skewed amidst a powder blue? no tell tail light clue spun like the spell you spin this precarious PANDEMONIUM I'm stranded, all upon a foggy night all upon a foggy night on a foggy night

I was going to go with "For The Roses" from Joni and her line of lilac sprays but didn't have much more time than to think I should. That Siouxsie song you referenced reminds me how much I liked her stuff; I should get it out and listen.
This if from a Snoop song covered by The Gourds, a really fun folky remake of 'Gin and Juice'.
Rollin down the street smokin indo sippin on gin and JUICE Laid back with my mind on my money and my money on my mind
Later on that day My homey Dr. Dre He came by with a gang of Tanqueray And a fat ass J of some bubonic CHRONIC you know it made me choke It ain't no joke I had to back up off of it Set my cup of gin down

Ah...that fine whine...
Like A Stone ~ Audioslave
On a cobweb Afternoon In a room full of emptiness By a freeway I confess I was lost in the pages Of a book Full of death Reading how we'll die alone And if a god will lay to rest Anywhere we want to go
In your house I long to be Room by room Patiently I'll wait for you there Like a stone I'll wait for you there Alone
And on my death bed I will pray To the gods and the angels Like a pagan To anyone who will take me to heaven To a place I recall I was there so long ago The sky was bruised The ground was bled And there you led me on
In your house I long to be Room by room Patiently I'll wait for you there Like a stone I'll wait for you there Alone Alone
On and on I read Till the day was gone And I sat in regret For all the things I've done For all that I've blessed And all that I've wronged In dreams until my death I will wonder on
In your house I long to be Room by room Patiently I'll wait for you there Like a stone I'll wait for you there Alone Alone

Baby, It's Cold Outside ~ Ray Charles
I really can't stay - but baby it's cold outside I've got to go away - but baby it's cold outside This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful words you're humming And father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry Well, maybe just a half a drink more - Put some records on while I pore
The neighbors might think - But baby it's bad out there Say, what's in this drink? - No cabs to be had out there I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight now To break the spell - I'll take your hat, your hairs looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no sir - Mind if I move in closer? At least I'm gonna say that I tried - What's the sense of hurtin' my pride? I really can't stay - Oh baby don't hold out Ah but it's cold outside - Baby it's cold outside
I simply must go - But baby it's cold outside The answer is no - But baby it's cold outside The welcome has been - How lucky that you dropped in So nice and warm - Look out that window at that storm
My sister will be suspicious - God your lips look delicious My brother will be there at the door - Waves upon a tropical shore My maiden aunt's mind is vicious - Gosh your lips are delicious Well, mabye just a cigarette more - Never such a blizzard before
I got to get home - But baby you'd freeze out there Say, lend me a coat - It's up to your knees out there You've really been grand - I'm thrilled when you touch my hand Why don't you see - How can you do this thing to me?
There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Think of my lifelong sorrow At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died I really can't stay - Get over that hold-out Ah but it's cold outside - Ah but it's cold outside
Where could you be going When the wind is blowing And it's cold outside?
Baby it's cold, cold outside

Boy, I love old musicals. I really like "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" better, but no matter how I tried I couldn't make scurry be in it
The Surrey With The Fringe On Top Lyrics When I take you out, tonight, with me, Honey, here's the way it's goin' to be: You will set behind a team of snow white horses, In the slickest gig you ever see!
Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry When I take you out in the surrey, When I take you out in the surrey with the fringe on top! Watch that fringe and see how it flutters When I drive them high steppin' strutters. Nosey pokes'll peek thru' their shutters and their eyes will pop! The wheels are yeller, the upholstery's brown, The dashboard's genuine leather, With isinglass curtains y' can roll right down, In case there's a change in the weather. Two bright sidelight's winkin' and blinkin', Ain't no finer rig I'm a-thinkin' You c'n keep your rig if you're thinkin' 'at I'd keer to swap Fer that shiny, little surrey with the fringe on the top! All the world'll fly in a flurry When I take you out in the surrey, When I take you out in the surrey with the fringe on top! When we hit that road, hell fer leather, Cats and dogs'll dance in the heather, Birds and frogs'll sing all together and the toads will hop! The wind'll whistle as we rattle along, The cows'll moo in the clover, The river will ripple out a whispered song, And whisper it over and over: Don't you wisht y'd go on forever? Don't you wisht y'd go on forever? Don't you wisht y'd go on forever and ud never stop In that shiny, little surrey with the fringe on the top! I can see the stars gettin' blurry, When we drive back home in the surrey, Drivin' slowly home in the surrey with the fringe on top! I can feel the day gettin' older, Feel a sleepy head on my shoulder, Noddin', droopin' close to my shoulder, till it falls kerplop! The sun is swimmin' on the rim of a hill; The moon is takin' a header, And jist as I'm thinkin' all the earth is still, A lark'll wake up in the medder. Hush, you bird, my baby's a-sleepin'! Maybe got a dream worth a-keepin' Whoa! you team, and jist keep a-creepin' at a slow clip clop. Don't you hurry with the surrey with the fringe on the top!

Yes, indeedy, Sister Trout - welcome, welcome!
If tomorrow, all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life And I had to start again With just my children and my wife
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today 'cause the flag still stands for freedom And they can't take that away
And I'm proud to be an American Where at least I know I'm free And I won't forget the men who died And gave that right to me And I'd gladly stand up next to you And DEFEND her still today 'cause there ain't no DOUBT I love this land God bless the USA
