Clooney Named People's Sexiest Again
Thumbs nose at Brad Pitt
November 15, 2006
George ClooneySure, George Clooney got recognition for winning an Oscar and helping the troubled region of Darfur this year. But what will really boost his repuation is validation of his sexuality once again.
For the second time, the actor has been named People's Sexiest Man Alive, tying his "Ocean's Twelve" pal Brad Pitt.
"This one's going to be hard for Brad since he's been Sexiest Man Alive twice," says Clooney in the special issue, on newsstand Friday, Nov. 17. "He's enjoyed that mantle. I'd say 'Sexiest Man Alive' to him and he'd go, 'Two-time.' So that's been taken away. We used to call him Two Time. So Brad's going to be upset."
So evidently, a manly visage, killer smile, sharp mind and wicked sense of humor are appealing to the ladies, but what does he find attractive?
"Everybody says this, but sense of humor is No. 1 for me," he says. "It's certainly what's most attractive. It's not the first thing you notice at 21, but it's the first thing you notice now. You also have to have a sense of humor about my life. It certainly has had an effect on relationships, but I would bet less of an effect than my own issues or insecurities. You can't really blame outside forces for things not working out. You have to take some responsibility."
Women hoping to snag Clooney won't find much encouragement from the actor who vowed he'd "never marry again," after his marriage to actress Talia Balsam ended.
"The truth is, I haven't softened my position on anything, but it's not something I deal with on a regular basis," he explains. "Who knows? I've been married. It's not something I'm looking out for. The truth is, I'm really happy."
And there's bad news too for a woman who wants to dispense with wedding vows and just aspire to being his baby's mama.
"I think it's the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids," he says. "It's not something to be taken lightly. I don't have that gene that people have to replicate. But everything in my life has changed over time."
The 45-year-old actor isn't alone on this list. Among his sexy henchman are his pal Pitt, Ashton Kutcher, Taye Diggs, Johnny Depp, Josh Duhamel, Enrique Murciano, Leonard DiCaprio, "The Office's" John Krasinski, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Cho, Rodrigo Santoro, Omar Epps and "Ugly Betty's" Eric Mabius.
