Boston Rob Joins CBS' 'Early Show'

Rob Mariano is putting his Machiavellian ways behind him. But he's still on TV. The kinder, gentler Boston Rob is now part of "The Early Show," CBS' morning-news program. Mariano will be taking part in a series called "Rob to the Rescue," in which he travels to locales across the country and tries to help people in need -- sort of a smaller-scale "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" or "Three Wishes."
His first appearance on "The Early Show" was Tuesday (Nov. 22), when he traveled to a small town in Michigan to help a woman who rescues animals renovate her facilities.
The do-gooding is something of a switch from Mariano's previous TV persona. He became known as a master manipulator on two editions of CBS' "Survivor" -- including last year's "All-Stars" -- and built on that reputation when he ran "The Amazing Race" with his future wife, fellow "Survivor" Amber Brkich. Prior to finding and extending his reality-show fame, Mariano worked as a foreman for a construction company in his hometown
