I stopped watching soaps in 1988. But I do flip around once in a while just to see what they're up to. Soaps used to be pretty much normal for the most part. (About normal people, their lives, etc.) There was Dark Shadows though, and I think it's Passions that is also a bit off the wall as well. (I'm not saying it's a bad thing.) Today I noticed that Army Wives was running their first five episodes back to back, and then I flipped the channel and caught a bit of Passions and thought: Why don't they have a 'daily' soap about a fictional military base? Shoot, there are various branches and ranks, so why not several different 'daily' soaps based in different locations within different branches? Does the military channel do anything besides educational stuff? Perhaps that network should start up original shows and create them.
