Oh, goody - another chance to post one of my all-time favorite sad songs!
Her hat is hanging by the door The one she bought in Mexico It blocked the wind It stopped the rain She'd never leave that one So, she can't be really gone
The SHOES she bought on Christmas Eve She laughed and said they called her name It's like they're waiting in the HALL For her to slip them on So, she can't be really gone
I don't know when she'll come back She must intend to come back I've seen the error of my ways Don't waste the tears on me What more proof do you need Just look around the room So much of her remains
Her book is lying on the bed The two of hearts to mark her page Now who could ever walk away at chapter 21 So, she can't be really gone
Just look around this room So much of her remains Her book is lying on the bed The two of hearts to mark her page Now who could ever walk away With so much left undone So, she can't be really gone No, she can't be really gone

Another Suitcase In Another Hall
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long Never fool myself that my dreams will come true Being used to trouble I anticipate it But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you?
[Eva:] So what happens now? [Che:] Another suitcase in another hall [Eva:] So what happens now? [Che:] Take your picture off another wall [Eva:] Where am I going to? [Che:] You'll get by, you always have before [Eva:] Where am I going to?
Time and time again I've said that I don't care That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through But every time it matters all my words desert me So anyone can hurt me, and they do
Call in three months time and I'll be fine, I know Well maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion But that's no consolation here and now.
Don't ask anymore.

One of my favorites from the King of Rock n Roll. A lovely, melodic song:
When no one else can understand me When everything I do is wrong You give me hope and CONSOLATION You give me strength to carry on
And you're always there to lend a hand In everything I do That's the WONDER The wonder of you

She said 'I'm going out with my girlfriends' Marguerite is at the Holiday Inn Oh have mercy my only thought Was tequila makes her clothes fall off I told her put an extra layer on I know what happens when she drinks Patron Her closet's missing half the things she bought Yea tequila makes her clothes fall off
She'll start by kicking out of her shoes Lose an earring in her drink Leave her jacket in the bathroom stall Drop a contact down the sink
Them panty hose ain't gonna last too long If the DJ puts Bon Jovi on She might come home in a table cloth Yea tequila makes her clothes fall off

I think we're stuck, Vox. How about "bride"?
Dancy was a deacon Every Sunday found him there At the Lighthouse Gospel Church with his hands folded in prayer. And standing right beside him was his pretty HOMETOWN BRIDE. But no one could have guessed what he was praying deep inside. Dancy has a demon living somewhere in his past. A dark-haired cajun angel was the devil dressed in black. Was it really voodoo, or just weakness in the man? The only time he ever felt was when she took his hand.
Oh, its been so long, but its still so strong; Every night the devil comes and walks through Dancy's dream. She takes him by the hand and leads him back to New Orleans. The good man's going crazy somewhere in between The hymns on Sunday morning, And the sins in Dancy's dreams.

My friend from college and I used to sing that when we were doing our little coffeehouse gigs. That girl could wail on a twelve-string like Jimi Hendrix and I think she outplayed the Doobies on "China Grove". Remember..."When the sun comes up on a sleepy little town, down around San Antone" etc...? We worked out some decent harmonies too.
A million lifetimes ago. <sigh>

from Eagle Song ~ ABBA
They came flying from far away, now I’m under their spell I love hearing the stories that they tell They’ve seen places beyond my land and they’ve found new horizons They speak strangely but I understand And I dream I’m an eagle And I dream I can spread my wings
Flying high, high, I’m a bird in the sky I’m an eagle that rides on the breeze High, high, what a feeling to fly Over mountains and forests and seas And to go anywhere that I please
As all good friends we talk all night, and we fly wing to wing I have questions and they know everything There’s no limit to what I feel, we climb higher and higher Am I dreaming or is it all real? Is it true I’m an eagle? Is it true I can spread my wings?
