Yeah, he seemed a rather odd choice for that role, but he didn't do that bad a job of it .................. I think.

I agree...he was for one too old to be playing Hamlet...however he didn't mess up the lines and for some who have a hard time with the language he made it easy. And I must say...I always love classical Shakespear.

I've never considered Mel as much more then adequate as an actor myself, but as you say, he made a reasonable fist of it though.

Ah well..I love Mel as an actor and a human being. Good guy. Now I feel the same way about Keanu Reeves as you do about Mel....great movies he's done but the boy can't act his way out of a box.
And I also loved yes minister....BBC america addict!

Ummm, don't really mind Mel, just always considered him a bit light weight, best suited in roles like Maverick, but he surprised with Hamlet, and especially Braveheart, did a great job on that.
