"The Shootist" is becoming one of those films that's on television a couple of times a week. You're right, Step - it's a powerful, touching film.

Flashdance with Jennifer Beals. I wasn’t particularly impressed by Flashdance but the then-barely-a-teenager boy child was clearly quite impressed. Sigh.

The Goonies with Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman. The pirate ship with One-Eyed Willie was a full sized three masted ship. When filming was done the entire set, ship and all, was simply torn down. No one wanted it.

Joan of Arc, with Ingrid Bergman, based on Maxwell Anderson’s play Joan of Lorraine. Bergman played the role of Joan both on Broadway and in the 1948 film.
My favorite Joan of Arc film was The Passion of Joan of Arc, a French silent film made in 1928. It is based on the actual record of Joan’s trial. Directed by Carl Dreyer and starring Renee Jeanne Falconetti, it is a brilliant film -- the cinematography is amazing. Falconetti's performance has been described as being among the finest in cinematic history. If you even get the chance to see it, do, it is haunting and, well, perfect. I am stunned that it was made in 1928 -- it is timeless.

Scamp, a friend has told me how brilliant that film is. I need to overcome my general bias against silent films and watch it. Silent comedies are fine with me. But silent dramas have always been a long row for me to hoe. ~~~~~~~~ The Snows Of Kilimanjaro (1952) Writer Harry Street reflects on his life as he lies dying from an infection while on safari in the shadow of Mount Kilamanjaro. www.imdb.com/title/tt0045162/?ref_=sr_2What a cast - Gregory Peck, Susan Hayward, and Ava Gardner.

It is brilliantly filmed, uses all sorts of planes of vision, and the actors are divine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Naked and the Dead, great war film based on Norman Mailer's book.
