Sounds like my DVD [ and VHS ] collection might pale in comparision with JJ's and MG's.
This one sounds like it could be ...........
A Streetcar Named Desire?

Sorry for the delay, let's see if this one at least causes a moments hesitation.
A big case may be my last chance to salvage my floundering career, but powerful forces are gathering against me, including one least expected.

The movie that sprang immediately to mind when I read this was The Verdict starring Paul Newman as down-at-heel lawyer Frank Galvin.
One of my all-time favourite films and actors.

Got it in one MG, Frank Galvin from "The Verdict."
High on my list of favourite films also, and a superb performance from Newman, the one he "should" have won the Oscar for IMO.
Wonder if Robert Redfort ever regrets turning the role down because he didn't think playing a drunk fit his image.
Bad luck JJ, dang annoying when you're that close but just can't think of the answer I know.

I'm glad he did Kat. I can't se RR playing the part as well as Paul did.
Ok here's the clue.
'I've been mistaken for somebody else'.

Same here MG, can't envisage anybody else in that role actually, Newman nailed it to perfection. 'I've been mistaken for somebody else'. ........ that's the clue to the next game? Sheesh you like too play hardball doncha. Ummm let's see, the first [ and only ] film that comes to mind is "The Wrong Man" with Henry Fonda?

Comedy?

Yeah, I suppose you could describe it as a comedy/drama. The kind that this actor specialised in.

"Specialised" past tense, does that mean s/he is retired or passed on to the great stage in the sky? Which would make it fairly old/ish I guess. Notice the clever way I snuck several questions in there?

Yes, he has passed on, yes it is oldish and yes I did notice that.

Yes it is indeed Cary Grant.

A thousand apologies for holding things up for so long.
Not sure I should post another game yet, think I'm supposed to get the character and film from the last clue first, but seeing as how things have been stalled for so long I'll go ahead anyway just to get things moving again.
A physcotic killer on the loose, a justice system that seems to coddle the bad guys while making my job almost impossible ... time to throw the rule book in the trash can.
