I came up with an idea last night. A discussion club where we all read or watch the same thing and discuss it. We can discuss a book or book series, short story, movie or movie series/sequels, TV series or TV mini-series ... anything. (That's the cool thing about VHSs & DVDs, we can rent/borrow/buy the stuff we want to watch. Who cares if it isn't on TV anymore?)
The discussion can be one book/movie/episode/whatever per week, two per week ... or ... suggestions anyone?
So, what do you want to discuss first?
My vote: Farscape (TV Series)
If enough are interested, I'll set up a discussion board for these discussions. Once the discussions for that book/book series/movie/mini-series/TV series/whatever is over, I'll move those threads to their appropriate boards and leave them open for any continuing discussion to take place.
So, are you in? Or are you out?

I would be interested if I can obtain the material. Why not allow multiple discussion groups to be on-going at the same time? That way, if I was unable, unwilling, or uninterested in some, there would be others I might be interested in participating in ...

It isn't that I'm against multiple discussion groups going on at the same time ... it's that so very few members post these days, and I doubt there will be enough interest to have several going, let alone one. Hence my query on who would be interested in starting one.

My issue is time - I don't have a lot of spare time. Relevance to the group requires time and participation – I cannot assure more than an occasional passing comment. I like the idea though.

Is there a season/s, month/s, day/s of the week that is best for everyone?

I have plenty of time right now, just very little money with which to get new books, see new movies, etc.

Definitely not spring. Too busy. So tired. Thud.
My reason, whatever time of year, is the same as Q's and Steppers - and is the same reason I've balked at book discussions at Whoosh, or joining the book clubs my friends insist on pressuring me to join: I don't have time to be anything other than an occasional participate.
Remember those episode discussion at the old e-z board Whoosh? Dang, those were good! I loved reading them, but rarely joined in because I just couldn't keep up.

There are sites such as Netflix.com, Hulu.com, as well as various others, where you can rent DVDs or livestream shows and such. There is the library to borrow books, as well as sites with books in the public domain. There's also book swap sites, and used books sites.
None the less, that is why I opened up the discussion to suggestions. Then there would have been a vote as to what we would have done.
No worries, guys. Maybe later on. Sometime or other.
And, yes, Phalon, I miss those days from time to time.

Oh, and you can borrow DVDs from the library as well.

I like the idea Jox, but I've got a similar problem, ie time. I just don't have enough of it to spare. Also I'm guessing that there is still a sizable time difference between tv series and film releases between our two countries, so I would be shooting in the dark with those. Old series might not be too bad assuming that They were currently airing or I'd already seen them. I don't get to read many new books these days and because of time restraints it takes me ages to get through a book.

How about Harry Potter? That's fairly new, the series is complete, it's available at the library, there are books and movies, anything else I've missed?

Okay. That's two suggestions:
Farscape Harry Potter
