Strings and cats. Ugh. Dusty, (the supposed smart one and not a lovable idiot like Ranger), ate a two to three foot piece of string once. I saw just about an inch hanging out of his mouth and then one swallow and it was gone. Panic stricken, I called the vet, afraid it would get wound around his insides. Yep, that was a concern, and down goes a tube of hair-ball remedy. That was the plan anyway - he wouldn't eat it.
Butter? No. Argh - as stubborn as the kids sometimes.
Poor thing. Finally, it was...uhm...expelled. We never, ever leave anything that remotely resembles string laying about now.
And he likes toothpaste too - won't leave my toothbrush alone, and drags it through the house. I've resorted to keeping a drawer full of spares.
Scrappy - quit that heavy breathing. And here, have a breath mint.

Love all the piercings...I almost have as many as you do. So how long did it take for your tongue to heal?

Phalon I hope you had a steady supply of toothbrushes there. I hate to think you had to use it after the cat did. I have to say i am at the thought. My icy hot cat used to steal my makeup brushes and drag them around...and little man loves kiddo's feather pens...You know the ones that kids buy for the fun and well lets just say she always has to dig it out of the cat's bed

Brush after the cat has chewed it? ACK! That'd make me gag - and possibly ack up a hairball.
No, no - I'm sure he's got them stashed all over the house, along with the stolen earrings, candy, and whatever else he decides he must have - he is a horder, and I can never find where he keeps his finds hidden.

I used to have a lhasa apso when I was a kid that tried to hide his goodies in the carpet. It was the funniest thing to watch him try and dig the shag up and scoot the bone into it...then turn in circles until he was satisfied and plopped down on it to protect it. You'd think we were eating his treats.

A customer told me kind of a cute story today. A summer person; only here on weekends, having a second home on the lake.
It seems someone was playing a practical joke on him; putting all kinds of icky stuff on the deck of his boat, under the boat cover, while he was away during the week. Dead fish, rodents, birds - all smelling quite ripe by the time he returned to his summer home towards the end of the week.
Getting angry, and who would do such a cruel and gross thing?
He gets in town last night, and this morning is drinking coffee out on the deck by the boat slip. He spies a stray cat that he feeds while he's here. The cat has a bird in his mouth, and he watches it start to slip the bird under the tarp covering his boat. He calls out to the cat to stop, and instead the stray brings the bird over to him and drops it at his feet.
Little gifts of gratitude to the man for feeding him while he's around.
And today, one of my cats swatted my toothbrush off the sink and into the toilet.

Ok folks!!! I need a favor. There is a contest going on here to win renovations for a local charity. The place I work is listed as one of the charities. We have the potential to win a whole bunch of stuff. Trust me we need it. So if you all could please click on the link below. Look to the right side where it says help make over a local charity then vote for the Humane Society I'd appreciate it! Thank you in advance. VOTE FOR HSSAOne more thing I should add just to tip the scales a little.....we survive on donations and intake fees only. We don't get any kind of grant or government funding at all. Thanks again. And don't get me wrong. The other charities are great too. It's just that obviously that one is closer to my heart.

vote cast...hope you all get what you need Scrappy. Oh man and I have to tell you this. Night before last kiddo and I were eating peanut butter and crackers which the pup loves but the little man kitty has never been exposed to. So kiddo puts some on her finger and puts it out for him to smell. He actually dry heaved at the smell. I have never seen an animal dry heave before in fact I never knew they could other then hairball issues, and not to seem sick or anything but it was hilarious. He arched his back and made this face along with the sound that cracked my butt up.
