I'm thinking of writing serial fiction. So, I'm researching whatever I can think of that might help me figure it all out. Such as, how to write episodes for TV.
I first thought of 24 chapters/episodes/installments for 99-cents each. (At least 2,500 words or more per chapter.) But perhaps that is far too much for a reader. In my search there is mention of having 6 installments for $1.99 each. So, okay. Maybe I'll go with that. So, the 6 installments will end up being one complete novel in the end. And the complete story will need a hook/teaser, acts, turning points, climax/resolution, cliff hangers, etc. And each of the installments will also need to have a hook/teaser, acts, turning points, ups & downs, mini-climaxes, cliff hangers, etc.
And maybe the 6 installments can be:
1) Teaser 2) Act 1 3) Act 2 4) Act 3 5) Act 4 6) Climax/Resolution
And the first 5 installments will have:
1) Teaser 2) Act 1 3) Act 2 4) Act 3 5) Act 4 6) Cliff Hanger/Tag
And the 6th installment will have:
1) Teaser 2) Act 1 3) Act 2 4) Act 3 5) Act 4 6) Climax/Resolution (Possible Tag for a second 'season/serial.')
And of course there will be Turning Points peppered within, to move the story forward from one act to another. And there will need to be a Story Bible too, I suppose. This is the start of my template for writing serials. I'll add to it as I go along. Any suggestions are most welcomed. Links to valuable information, etc. would be nice too. Book suggestions would be great as well.

It's late, and I'm sleepy. This may not make any sense tomorrow.

Okay. I'm putting these here for safe keeping. I'll check them out later for research. And I'll check out the individual episodes too. Note the prices, page numbers, etc.

I just came across this for the first time, and thought it might also work just as well as serials for Indie-Publishers:
[A] vignette is a short impressionistic scene that focuses on one moment or character and gives a trenchant impression about that character, an idea, setting, and/or object. It's a short, descriptive passage that's more about evoking meaning through imagery than it is about plot.

I've always thought it'd be fun to take the short stories and flash fiction things I've written and compile them into one story - little vignettes that put together make an entire story.
I had a book like that - I can't remember the title exactly (and no time to drill this morning); it was something like "The Little Star of Bella Luna" by a South American writer. The first half of the book was a novella, with each chapter being a blurb (or vignette) about a place and time in a different character's life, that had nothing to do with anything or anyone previously mentioned. It wasn't until the very last chapter that everything was connected.
I sent the book to Scrappy - remember when we were writing The Scrolls Unroll (or whatever it was called), and suddenly a fish appeared in the story for no particular reason, which ended up being the magical fish running gag throughout the story? The first chapter of 'Bella Luna' (or whatever it was called) revolved around a magical fish, which seemingly out of nowhere, appears again in the last chapter, tying the whole story together. It wasn't meant to be funny, but because of the running gag in our story, I thought it was hilarious.

Sounds like a cool idea. Go for it.
It's been so long since I've read the scrolls, I don't recall the fish. Though I do think there was a fish at the dinner you guys cooked when I was with you?
