Got a big pot of spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. It's a spaghetti kind of day - cold, damp, and dreary, like it might rain, or snow; perfect kind of day of a nice hearty meal.
We've had some really nice, sunny days here lately - some spring-like temperatures off and on, mixed in with the 30s. It's supposed to turn cold again this coming week, and feel more like February is supposed to feel. I don't see any snow in the forecast though - this winter has been so un-snowy, it's scary.

The temperatures here have been pretty warm, when the wind isn't blowing. It's supposed to get below freezing the next few nights, and then go up . . . and then down . . . and then back up again. I'm betting March will be cold again, as February does tend to warm up. I haven't heard the peepers yet, so no idea what's up with that, since it has been warm enough . . . unless the ground isn't warming up. The breeze has been quite chilly, even on the warmest of days. Maybe that has something to do with it.
The days are getting longer. In a few weeks the sun will be setting at 6pm. Can't wait. And then the time change will have the sun setting after 7pm. I'll be a much happier camper when that happens. I only like the time change in March. I hate it in November. I was hoping they would do away with time change last year, but that didn't happen. I'm hoping they'll do away with it this year. I say just Spring forward 30 minutes and leave it there forever. Because morning people like the extra sun in the mornings, and evening people love the extra sun in the evenings, so just share the sun by cutting the hour in half so both morning & evening people get an extra 1/2 hour of sunlight.

It's been really warm here, more like April/May. Supposed to get some severe weather. The wind is blowing pretty hard. I haven't turned on the a/c yet. Hoping I can hold off until May.

80s here for the past several days but after tomorrow a front is moving through. They're predicting 86/60 for Tuesday, then 65/44 cool and breezy, Thursday 52/47 with sprinkles. Then upper 70's and lower 80's until next Wednesday. We're still seriously behind on rainfall amounts. Clearly, winter is done here and we need spring rains. We had a couple of good rainstorms in January and early February but then the faucet was cut off. It wasn't enough or soon enough though; my red maple is a stick. I'm going to have to figure out how to cut it all down - not the easiest thing to do under the circumstances but that's one of the big things I learned from the VA Rehab - adapt. Even if it's just a bit at a time, yes you can.
I should have had the surgeon who did my face with the last cancer removal do my back when they did the spinal surgery. My face is healing nicely, and I don't hardly scare off little kids at all. My back on the other hand is a mess - at least partly because they ended up having to gut me twice to "adjust misplaced hardware" which is polite for running a screw into my spinal cord which kept my leg from moving.
Phalon: I haven't heard back from mom so I don't know if she had any big winners but I'm guessing not. Otherwise, one of the sisters still up there would have sent a text message. She had a really great 101st birthday though - she talked about it for nearly an hour and for her, that's an especially extended conversation.
I'm hypertensive, but cancer free at last. I guess that's all the news from here.

From time to time, the outside temps have gotten into the mid- to high 70s. And the sun has turned the inside of my home into a roaster oven. This Monday, the sunset will be at 5:53pm, and next Monday, the sunset will be at 7:00pm. The highest daytime temp is predicted to be at 77F, the lowest daytime temp will be 54F. The highest nighttime temp will be 60F, and the lowest nighttime temp will be 36F. I wonder if Spring will have frigid temps? Spring isn't far off. I'm excited.

It's always possible we'll experience a cold snap in March; I don't see anything indicating that will happen, but Phalon might see it considering her location. Down here the trees and other nature oriented indications are that spring has sprung. My live oak is dropping leaves at a furious rate and the rose bushes put on impressive growth rates in mid February. If we get anything here, it'll almost certainly be in the form of some kind of spring storm.

Hey, Stepper. If El Niño sticks around for a few more weeks, we may be able to just skip the rest of the winter temps. I'm liking it staying above freezing most of the time, but I'd prefer the 70s temps waited until late April, early May. The weather just doesn't seem to want us to have nice, not too hot and not too cold, temps. It has to go from one extreme to the other. Never just right.
I hope your back has improved since you were here last. I've never been through what you've been through, so I have no bits of wisdom to share. I'm guessing the warmer weather does help some, as you're able to get out, and aren't forced to stay inside all of the time. I just learned something on TikTok. Someone in a video said that they were told that a pecan tree is the best predictor as to whether or not there would be another frost in the area. Her pecan tree had a bit of growth on the ends of its branches/limbs, which she said she was told meant there wouldn't be anymore frost this time of year. No growth means frost weather isn't over yet. She was in Texas, so you may be right about Spring sticking around for you. Being further north, I'm guessing I have more of a chance of getting frost, and freezing weather. The closer it gets to April, the lesser the chances of getting arctic temps, but it could still drop below freezing a wee bit.
I was hoping that Xena being on Amazon Prime would bring in new members to chat like the old days, but I guess message boards are truly dead. I love the BookTok videos, but the character limits are like Twitter/X, and doesn't do much for real discussions. I also thought that with streaming, and bringing back all of the old boards out of the burial grounds, fans would flock here to join and chat about their favorite shows/books/etc. I wonder how long Proboards will hang in there before shutting their doors for good? I can't imaging all of this being wiped from the web. So many interesting conversations, and witty remarks. I think the destruction of all message boards will be the only thing that will force me to move on. I really hate social media, and I've seen nothing new to replace it with. Sad.

Well, that is reason for a big whoo-hoo! WHOO-HOOO! Congratulations, Stepper! So happy for you.
I'm back at work already; last week was our first week. I've never been called back in February in more than 20 years there, except for a just couple of days one February years ago when we had a freaky few days of really warm weather. We did not have winter this year - or at least a Michigan winter. One week of snow and that was it, other than a day or two here and there. Like last week - went to work Monday, it was 50-60 degrees, rose to 70 degrees by Wednesday, and then plummeted overnight to a high of 30 with lows in the teens. Like WTF? Way too drastic of a temperature fluctuation. I hear the peach crop for this year is a total loss, and the cherry crops will be greatly reduced.
Gotta get ready for work. Later, Taters.

I hate that the cold hurt the cherry and peach crops! Both of those are high up my favorites list. A friend, knowing I like Xena and especially Gabrielle, sent me the below link. I have good friends! www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLdv2pun/

I haven't seen that one yet, but I do follow piratexwp on TikTok. Made a few comments they liked. I follow Adrienne Wilkinson on TikTok too. She's been doing skits as Eve with a cardboard cutout of Xena (Mom). She's liked a lot of my comments too. TikTok is okay, but I'd rather it were happening here on this board.

It's brrrrr cold here, with an off and on snow/rain mix the past 4 or 5 days. No accumulation that's stuck around for more than a day though. Typical for March, so maybe it's getting more back to normal? Though the mallard couple is back in the ravine already, and at work, the Canadian geese couple is on the pond - it seems kind of early for both. I've never gotten into TikTok, or any social media for that matter. Just don't have the time, or maybe it's more a lack of desire, to follow anyone, and have that constant bombardment of "dings" on my phone anytime anyone posts something - it would drive me nuts. I suppose that makes me anti-social, which is kinda weird considering I can talk up a storm about nothing to anyone. HA! Later, Taters. Gotta get going; BP and her boyfriend are in California for the week, and I said I'd feed their cats while they're gone (thankfully, they took the dog with them; she's a handful). Speaking of BP; she put on her third and biggest fashion show a couple of weeks ago, and got a nice write-up in a local magazine: www.sivairmagazine.com/articles/thekollective (she is not the model pictured)

Is the outfit BP's design, or someone else's?
I turned off the sound on all of my social media apps. I get quiet banners, and numbers floating half on/off the icon. You do a search for what interests you, and you'll start getting all kinds of videos on that subject on your For You page. I did a search for BookTok, and got all kinds of book chat videos. The ones with the books I've read and liked play the most because those are the ones I watch, and not scroll through past. Right now it's the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. It still lives in my head long after I've read it, and reread it . . . and I'm itching to reread it. It's one of my top favorite reads. (Twilight Saga and The Vampire Academy series'.) I love all of Sarah J. Maas' works. Her three series' are all connected somehow. There was a teeny crossover between TOG & ACOTAR . . . blink and you'll miss it. And a big crossover between CC & ACOTAR. There will be a few more books in the CC & ACOTAR series', and then supposedly a huge crossover novel, or series of novels, that unite all three worlds. Can't wait. SJM has two little ones now, so she's not writing as fast as she did before becoming a Mom. Unfortunately, TikTok has a set number of characters you can post, like Twitter/X, so there's no room for any real conversation. But the videos can be pretty long, so the book chat reviews and predictions can be engaging. Too bad Proboards doesn't have all of the cool things all of the social medias have all in one place. I'd love to have a message board connected to every social media out there.
It cooled down here for a few days. It got barely below freezing for a couple of nights. The temps are going back up though. It will be in the 70s for a few days. Then cool down again around the weekend. Unless a rare arctic weather system drops down low, I'm not expecting to get temps more than a few degrees below freezing between now and May. That's typically a January thing.
